[Bug 715185] Re: Non-removable volume doesn't show up in Unity dock after mount.

2011-04-19 Thread Henrique Rocha
I can't use Unity anymore so I can't test this. Using nvidia drivers freezes X
just after login (bug 749524).
I have to use Ubuntu with Classic Gnome with no effects.

@C10uD Your approach didn't work, and I'm using emesene2.
The function total_fail in the patch doesn't even exist in my code (freshly
updated natty).
I'll try to fix this bug.

[Bug 747614] Re: Maximized windows do not scale correctly with Unity and TwinView

2011-04-07 Thread Ramón Rocha
I'm not sure what other info I can add besides what's included in the
attached log files. The left monitor is 1280 x 1024 and the right
monitor is 1920 x 1080. If there is something specific needed then I
can provide it.

When I attempted to maximize on the left monitor, a portion of the
window overlapped onto the right monitor. See previously attached
screenshot.

I will try to reproduce the issue when the tracker at xorg.qa.ubuntu.com
resets for week 4 testing.

[Bug 715185] Re: Non-removable volume doesn't show up in Unity dock after mount.

2011-04-05 Thread Henrique Rocha
I'll test it this evening because I'm not using Unity anymore, I'm using the
classic Gnome with no effects session.
Compiz crashes became so frequent that I can't use Unity anymore.
Alt+tab crashes compiz, desktop switch also, etc, etc. so I gave up using Unity.
I'm thinking about formatting the / partition and installing beta-1 from
scratch because Unity functionality to search applications is not working for
me either.

[Bug 747614] [NEW] Maximized windows do not scale correctly with Unity and TwinView

2011-04-01 Thread Ramón Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Normally, a maximized window on TwinView just maximizes on one monitor.
On Natty, with two monitors and nvidia TwinView, a maximized window will
cover one entire monitor and part of the second monitor or sometimes
part of the window will be off the screen depending on the layout of the
monitors This is confusing.

[Bug 527428] Re: There is no way to rotate a display using nvidia proprietary drivers

2011-04-01 Thread Ramón Rocha
I just tested this again in natty.

I can confirm that adding the "RandRRotation" option to the xorg.conf
file manually makes the setting appear in the nvidia config tool.
However, when you try to rotate the monitor it crashes and this is
displayed on the terminal:

The program 'nvidia-settings' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 314 error_code 2 request_code 154 minor_code 2)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

include the password you used in plain text so don't use a password you

[Bug 631104] Re: lirc_ite8709 kernel module failure on suspend/resume

2011-02-14 Thread Sebastien DA ROCHA
Hi,

I have that problem too.

I've installed the mainline kernel as you (automaticaly) suggested and the
problem happened again.
21:20 seba@seba-EasyNote-MB87: ~/Téléchargements$ uname -a

The problem doesn't occur when the module is blacklisted.

I have a Packard Bell Easynote MB87 (should be almost the same has
Sebastien's MB85).

[Bug 717190] [NEW] Mounting Windows partition asks for root password.

2011-02-11 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi,
When I try to mount my Windows partition in Nautilus I'm asked for the root
password so my user's password doesn't work.
This should be integrated with sudo so that I can mount the partition with my
regular account.

Since I've never set the root password I had to set it to be able to
mount the Windows partition.

I've attached a screenshot.

[Bug 714543] Re: Eye of Gnome doesn't update titlebar while changing images.

This is not a bug in eog, that's why I didn't choose a package as the
code is correct and works if the user is using the classic desktop.

Maybe the bug should be associated to compiz instead since this is
surely a windows manager related issue.

[Bug 714543] [NEW] Eye of Gnome doesn't update titlebar while changing images.

2011-02-07 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

I took some screen shots for a bug report and noticed that when using
"Page Down" (or even the Next button in the app) to "scroll" through the
images, the title bar doesn't get updated to report the file name of the
image being viewed.

I thought this was an easy bug to fix so I tried to download the source code of
the application.
After a while of being familiar with GTK, I found the function where the code
should be changed.
Even after using the "set_title" function on the window, the title bar doesn't
get updated so I thought that this was a window manager bug and not a bug from
eog.

Since compiz has been very buggy I logged out from Unity and logged in
with the classic desktop without 3D and the bug is not present.

I don't know to which package the bug belongs to, maybe compiz?

[Bug 711877] Re: Unity top menu bar doesn't display correctly.

Yes, one is about Firefox, the other is about ALL other apps, since the menu
bar of each app gets on top of a portion of the title bar of that app in the
top bar like you can see in the screenshots.
The example was just for Firefox and Take Screenshot but it works with any
other app.

As you can see, you can only read "Take Scr" and then the File menu item

[Bug 712971] [NEW] Closing a Firefox tab that uses Flash, sometimes breaks other tabs that use Flash.

2011-02-04 Thread Henrique Rocha

[Bug 711895] [NEW] Unable to change "Close/Minimize/Maximize" from left to right.

2011-02-02 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

There isn't a way to easily change the icons mentioned in the subject to the
"Windows way".
I'm just reporting this because a colleague of mine just told me that the first
thing he does when he installs Ubuntu is change the icons through gconf-editor,
which simply doesn't make sense for such a basic thing in my opinion.

There should be an option somewhere, where the user can configure it's

[Bug 711877] [NEW] Unity top menu bar doesn't display correctly.

2011-02-02 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

If you have Firefox maximized and you move your mouse pointer to the top
bar, the title disappears. (I don't know if this is the supposed
behaviour).

If you don't have Firefox maximized and you move the pointer to the top
bar, the title "Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 Web Browser" changes to "Firefox 4"
with a gradient starting just before the "4" and all the rest of the
strings disappears.

If you open Terminal and move your mouse to the Unity top menu bar it displays
the word
"Terminal" with a gradient starting in "al" and then Terminal's menu bar starts.
I suppose that the top bar should only display the menu bar or at least, don't
overwrite the title with the menu bar.

Maybe it was using an old version of upstart.

Now I'm getting errors on sm-notify.
Probebly I'm seeing bug #690401 or #525154.

[Bug 708400] [NEW] gdm doesn't work when I boot the laptop

2011-01-26 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

I don't know what causes this behaviour.
When I boot the laptop, gdm doesn't work. I get a very small (0.5cm) purple
horizontal bar at the top of the screen.
The system is not crashed, but I can't even use Ctrl+Alt+F1 to switch to a text
terminal.
I can reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Del, but I get the same behaviour.

If I boot in recovery mode and run /etc/init.d/gdm restart, it also doesn't
work.
But if I reboot and boot normally again, it works.

Please let me know if you need the output of some files to help solve
this issue.

Thanks.

[Bug 707445] [NEW] Stand-by now working in natty

I don't normally use this feature because it never worked in Ubuntu but
since the new Indicators are not capturing my mouse clicks (I've

not working. Fortunately, I Ctrl+Alt+F1 got captured and I could

[Bug 707425] [NEW] Capture of mouse clicks not working well.

2011-01-25 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu natty and mouse clicking is not working very well.
I've noticed the behaviour when clicking Indicator icons.
For example, when I want to shutdown my laptop and I click the icon to perform
that action, I don't get the options, same for the clock, so that I can check
the calendar.

Also, If I have Chromium maximized I can't click the Archive button in
Gmail. I have to move the window to the right to be able to click the
button (I've tested with Firefox and get the same behaviour).

I have no idea why this is happening.

g_object_set (engine, "images-location", location, NULL);
}

to something like

if (location != NULL) {

wordexp(location, &expanded_location, 0);
location = expanded_location.we_wordv[0];
g_object_set (engine, "images-location", location, NULL);

[Bug 484209] Re: /etc/init/statd.conf: race with portmap startup

2010-11-26 Thread Bruno Rocha Coutinho
I have a workstation that the fix dosn't worked too.
I'm not gettting errors on "start portmap" but on "status portmap | grep -q
start/running"
because status portmap is returning "start/spawned".

Puting "sleep 1" afeter "start portmap || true" worked,
probably because it gave portmap time to start up before
"status portmap | grep -q start/running" test if portmap is runing.

Probably a real solution is to put a loop to wait portmap start up,
like:

start portmap || true
while status portmap | grep -v -q start/running
do
# if isn't running because a error ocurred, give up
...
sleep 1
done
exec sm-notify

[Bug 667822] [NEW] kdeinit4 crashes on login with via cards

2010-10-28 Thread Pedro Eugênio Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome

When using openchrome xorg driver with composite enabled on kwin,
kdeinit4 crashes after login. To fix the problem it's necessary to
disable composite feature on /usr/share/kubuntu-default-
settings/kde4-profile/default/share/config/kwinrc, to disable composite
extension directly in xorg.conf or to disable the 3d acceleration. This
issue occurs only on via cards, specifically with the model described
below:

# lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M890 [S3 UniChrome
Pro] (rev 02)

The bug can be reproduced on any fresh new installation of Kubuntu 10.04
LTS with composite enabled on kwin. The driver version is:

# dpkg -l xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
ii xserver-xorg-video-openchrome 1:0.2.904+svn827-1 X.Org X server
-- VIA display driver

It seems to be a bug on the driver itself. However, just the X client
crashes and nothing is shown on the xsever log. .xsession-errors will be
attached.

[Bug 638674] Re: kern.log and syslog are spammed with "ieee80211_tx_status: headroom too small"

2010-09-21 Thread Ramón Rocha
Jeremy,

I am not in a position right now where I can make this computer
potentially unstable. I consider it a "production" machine even if it's
just a home server. Right now, everything is working. I'm just having
to keep an eye on disk space as the log files grow.

Is testing the upstream kernel the only way to move this issue towards a
resolution? Is there any way to determine if the two patches I
mentioned in the bug description have made their way into the Ubuntu
kernel?

[Bug 638674] [NEW] kern.log and syslog are spammed with "ieee80211_tx_status: headroom too small"

2010-09-14 Thread Ramón Rocha
Public bug reported:

I recently setup my Ubuntu 10.04 server installation as a wired/wireless
router. My wireless card uses the rt61pci driver. Now, my kern.log and
syslog are getting spammed with the following message:
"ieee80211_tx_status: headroom too small". The log files grow at a rate
of about 50MB per day.

This link seemingly describes my exact issue and references a couple of
patches that resolve the issue:

[Bug 629965] [NEW] gnome-power-manager not detecting battery changes

2010-09-03 Thread Rafael Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

gnome-power-manager version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu1
Ubuntu 10.04.01 LTS
Acer Aspire 5745-3428 recently bought
SMBIOS 2.6 revision: 8.240 - according to dmidecode

g-p-m does not notice the power cable presence/disconnection, it shows the
battery icon as fully charged all the time; under its properties is shown the
battery as 100% charged all the time and the battery icon does not indicates
the battery discharging.
g-p-m is using preferences as the laptop is pluged on charger.
Running acpi returns message of "rate information unavailable"; running acpi -a
shows "Adapter 0= on" all the time, even if the power cable is off; running
acpi -bi shows "Battery 0=unknown...;
So, the power manager and acpi are not detecting the battery discharging and
both of them indicate the power line cable as on all the time.
YACPI command returns that AC ADAPTER is on, even if it isnt.
All the system power monitors indicates that the power cable is on all the
time, so there is no difference when the notebook is using batteries or charger.
The only indicator that is OK is the laptop charging light.
Tried booting with ec_burst=1 and acpi=force parameters but there was no change.

I just cant use the ubuntu with the laptop unpluged cause i dont know
the battery status.

[Bug 629459] Re: [needs-packaging] LMMS 0.4.8

2010-09-03 Thread Henrique Rocha
I tried upgrading from Debian's 0.4.7 package and it doesn't build in pbuilder.
Tried upgrading from Ubuntu's 0.4.5 and the diff doesn't apply successfully.

Any help?

This package already has a maintainer in Debian so I'll just compile
from source while Ubuntu doesn't get in sync with Debian.
