On some architectures, the Linux kernel doesn't provide a platform string to the dynamic linker. The value of this string is taken from the AT_PLATFORM value in the auxiliary vector (see getauxval(3)). [Bug 1296093] Re: Allow ungrouping window or application switchers
yes, please. however, in the mean time, there is a workaround - use static application switcher instead of unity switcher. 0) install compizconfig-settings-manager 1) close all apps (you'll see later why) 2) run "ccsm". 3) enable static app switcher in the "window management" section, disabled by default. it will report conflicts of key bindings, enable anyway. note: you want "static application switcher", not the regular "application switcher". yes, there are two, the regular one works but icons look screwy, don't use it. "static application switcher" is the shit. 3a) WARNING: this will cause session to re-initialize, and once i had it get completely screwed up and had to re-login. but this is why you closed all apps in step (1), haven't you? so you'll be fine. press ctrl-alt-f2, log in from the text console, "sudo killall Xorg" and re-login. or just reboot. 4) you'll note that ubuntu unity switcher is still active, we're not done yet. run ccsm again, go to desktop -> ubuntu unity plugin -> switcher tab and disable all the shortcuts (click the pencil icon, untick enabled). 5) still in ccsm, go back to window management -> static app switcher, which should be enabled, click on it and set shortcuts for "Next window (all windows)" and "Previous window (all windows)". you want "all windows", not just next/previous, which are also there and work like ubuntu switcher. set then to alt-tab and shift-alt-tab or whatever you prefer. presto! easy-peasy. but really, this should be an option of the ubuntu switcher. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296093 Title: Allow ungrouping window or application switchers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1296093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

booting kernel with the following patch http://pastebin.com/NBeRfwYJ and running "dmesg | grep fb_fix" comes back empty, so vmw_fb_check_var is not invoked. however, in my setup there is a reliably reproducible link between changes to info->fix.line_length and the split screen issue: comment out info->fix.line_length changes => everything's fine, put them back in info->fix.line_length => "split screen" on boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1328898 Title: VMware guest video broken by the 3.2.0.64 kernel update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-vmware/+bug/1328898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1328898] Re: VMware guest video broken by the 3.2.0.64 kernel update
Hi Chris. my host is a custom distro derived from Ubuntu with custom 3.13 kernel, guest is a plain 12.04 x64. i have performed steps 1-6, this is how i isolated your patch: 1) sudo apt-get install linux-source-3.2.0=3.2.0-63.95 2) make -j3 deb-pkg, this produces linux-image-3.2.59_3.2.59-0_amd64.deb 3) dpkg -i linux-image-3.2.59_3.2.59-0_amd64.deb this kernel boots fine, no issues. repeat with linux-source-3.2.0=3.2.0-64.97 - this kernel boots into a "split screen". in the same source tree, edit drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_fb.c to manually back out changes made in lkml/2014/2/1/41, make deb-pkg, install -> this kernel (3.2.59-2) boots normally. i'll try removing vmw_write now.

[Bug 1094176] [NEW] Multi-monitor - Maximized windows move to the larger monitor after opening/closing the lid
Public bug reported: I've found quite a few issues with multi-monitor setups and maximized windows, but none seem quite like this one. What i see is that windows that were maximized on the smaller screen always move to the larger one after i close and then open the laptop lid and unlock the session. Windows that were not maximized at the time are not affected. This 40 second video demonstrates the behavior: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU8KCm6Edv8 In it, i have two screens one on top of another, the external monitor is the larger one and is on top of the smaller one, which is a built-in screen. i have two windows on the smaller screen, a gnome-terminal and a help window. i maximize the help window, close and open the lid, unlock the session and return to find the help window maximized but on the larger screen above. gnome-terminal stays where it was but for some reason its menu strip is now obscured by the toolbar (but it only happens to that particular window, if i open another terminal it is not affected). Simply locking the screen does not produce the effect, only closing the lid does. [Bug 275439] Re: Pidgin 2.4.1 (Hardy): proper closed connection handling patch from upstream
i understand the last one is a (semi) automated reply. *come on people*! just look at the patch, read the relevant thread and you'll see. it's so simple it's frustrating to see it not being fixed this long. this is not an issue for 8.10 or 9.04 - those already have the fix. i myself have moved to 8.10. it still makes sense to patch it in 8.04 though as it is an LTS release, and this bug is *extremely* annoying. -- Pidgin 2.4.1 (Hardy): proper closed connection handling patch from upstream https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 275439] Re: Pidgin 2.4.1 (Hardy): proper closed connection handling patch from upstream
* Is this reproducible? * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? this happens often when wifi connecton goes away, but i can't say i can reproduce it at will. i guess it depends on how exactly connection is terminated (my guess is that it it is write that fails then it's ok, but if it happens to be in this poll, then it starts looping). description at the nabble.com link matches my symptoms exactly. and if you look at the patch it's pretty clear what's going on: reading 0 bytes only happens when connection has gone away and should be treated as an error. -- Pidgin 2.4.1 (Hardy): proper closed connection handling patch from upstream https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
