[Bug 542208] Re: [i830] graphics hang blank screen on lucid boot

2010-03-25 Thread Rola
Have the same problems since karmic, but only when system started with
an external monitor plugged in. I noticed that downgrading kernel then
fixed that issue (but brought up many new ones). Now I was trying to
install Lucid, and since gnome loaded I had white flickering and kind of
drunken-view-mode, which made the system barely usable. Switching off
KMS made the miracle! Installing now.

BTW... what negative consequences can disabling KMS have other than
losing plymouth boot screen?

[Bug 273742] Re: [Hardy+Intrepid+Jaunty] Pulseaudio tunnel over wifi lags big time

2010-03-22 Thread Rola
This also happens to me since day1 (started with jaunty on an Asus EEE
1005ha, and still happens in Lucid Beta1). Initially I blamed the
atheros card, but after switching it for an Intel I still experience the
same issues. One interesting thing is that audio stutters are much more
noticeable when using N-speed network (using Apple Airport Extreme) than
conventional G-speed network (thomson router). Sounds weird as
supposedly there's more bandwidth with N... maybe the airport extreme is
to blame, but again this stutter also happens in G networks (although
it's almost un-noticeable).

Adding acpi_osi=Linux worked for me on 1005ha, but now fn+F7 does
nothing, I get no notification for brightness hotkeys (though they work)
and touchpad disable hotkeys do send a signal but they don't disable it
(just get the touchpad enabled message.

[Bug 329896] Re: Pulseaudio network sinks overload CPU

2009-11-07 Thread Rola
Had a similar problem with my eee 1005ha (under Karmic). Enabling
pulseaudio network audio and playing music inmediately crashed on server
machine (the one broadcasting audio). Problem got better after
installing backported wireless modules. After that, it connects and
plays music, but has very annoying skips every two minutes or so, and
finally ends crashing after some time.

I currently blame the wireless atheros card, as this doesn't happen when
wired over 10/100 ethernet cable. Ordered a Dell 1510 wireless to try
see if it makes any difference, though...

[Bug 219675] [NEW] Disk Suspend/Resume halts since change from kernel 2.6.20 to 2.6.24

2008-04-19 Thread rola
Public bug reported:

SInce I changed from feisty to hardy, suspend to disk and suspend to ram are
freezing.
I will concentrate here on Suspend-to-Disk, because I hardly used
Suspend-to-RAM at all.

I tried suspending via s2disk, hibernate -F /etc/hibernate/sysfs-disk.conf,
echo -n disk /sys/power/state - Results are always the same.

With all modules loaded: Black screen, no suspend happening
From Console, gdm stopped: Freezes while message Snapshotting System ...
  - or freeze while Suspending Console(s)
for sysfs-disk.conf
From Console, loaded modules reduced to minimum (attached
sus.modules-loaded): Suspend working,
But on resume it's freezing (attached resume-freeze-screenshot)

Failing with the following kernels: 2.6.22-14.46, 2.6.24-15.26,
2.6.24-16.30

Without any further tweaks it's working for 2.6.20-16.35
