[Bug 486747] Re: [Usability] Ubuntu MenuBar applet to have an option to show icons instead of text
Thanks, for answer. Here is explanations: Screenshot-2.png - is how it looks like by default. Very convenient for user that accustom to horizontal panels. Screenshot-3.png - is how it looks like then panel is Right/Left oriented. It takes to much space, and not very convenient to look at it. What is an option to improve the situation: is to have an option to show Images instead of the text Application Places System. To show three images instead with corresponding tooltips. It would be beneficial for any layout and for any user. There many users use vertical menu to economize Horizontal height, as majority of displays are Wide, and as result have plenty of horizontal space that is not used properly. We do not want to instill our habits to others, and just need option to satisfy our preferences. Experienced users is familiar with these three menu items(Application Places System) an no need to them to have them in Text format, images will suffice. ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- [Usability] Ubuntu MenuBar applet to have an option to show icons instead of text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486747 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for reply and close attention to even tiny issue. First and foremost - any text data that does not have license restriction to be copied - I likely to be copied - This he reason I dislike Windows. There are enormous data diagnostic information and no way to copy it for my own reason. No need to predict the reason - give us the freedom of choice. Just implement this Labels as read only TextField = no UI visible changes but there are much more freedom. Reasons: 1. I installed Xneur tool (helper tool for multilanguage users). It appeared in Applications menu but I need to put it in Autostarted app and need exact command! 2. It good manner at forums to post exact command that might help to novice. [Bug 310752] Re: Xubuntu: applications is shown sometimes as maximazed
even after restart with vertical menu - behavior the same: 0. Restart PC 1. Launch Pingin 2. It is launched with wrong Maximized icon 3. Close and Launch again. 4. Pidgin appear as maximized. Click on maximize icon to get window normal state. 5. I could not reproduce this bug on my laptop with Xubuntu 8.10 :(. Feel free to mark bug as invalid. It seems to be my local problems that extremely annoy me. [Bug 310752] Re: Xubuntu: applications is shown sometimes as maximazed
I use two languages of the keyboard: English(default) and Russian Xubuntu UI is English completely, no additional language packs. I did not switch to Russian layout. My laptop has the same configuration and Pidgin and Thunderbird works fine. I did not notice When this problem appear, I cant confirm that this problem exists after Xubuntu 8.10 installation. [Bug 303434] Re: alt shift tab stopped navigating windows
Yes, after switching changing layout to CapsLock, required functionality works fine. But it is only workaround. Points: 1) It really pity that this feature does not work out of the box. 2) In the same bug for Ubuntu, there was the same problem/conflict - but it was resolved and not at expense of usability(additional adjustments are not required). 3) Change shortcut to change layout is not a trivial issue in Xubuntu 8.10. ( http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1012669 ). Feel free to close the bug if you think that 1-2 points devoid of sense. -- alt shift tab stopped navigating windows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303434 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 310752] [NEW] Xubuntu: applications is shown sometimes as maximazed
Public bug reported: Xubuntu 8.10. There are some applications that occasionally launch as Maximized (by chance) but it is easily reproducible. And terrible annoy. Applications: Thunderbird, Pidgin Steps: 1. Turn ON PC. 2. Login in to Xubuntu 3. Launch Thunderbird or Pidgin from the menu 4. If their window is not maximized close and launch again (In my case each second launch make window Maximized (NOT a full-screen like after Alt+F11), It is extremely annoying in case of Pidgin) For Thunderbird I noticed that after its restart - please look at attached picture. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Xubuntu: applications is shown sometimes as maximazed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
