[Bug 702438] Re: Transmission takes bandwidth to crawl

2011-03-22 Thread Roony Alvarez
Ok
I was tryin to get the data with a fresh install, but unfortunately, the issue
not only remained, but also occurred with deluge, and with opera [at start up].
So now i really have no idea whats causing the problem, tho my best guess would
be gnome or the distro itself (linuxmint10).. so its up to you guys whether to
close this ticket.
Thank you.

[Bug 702438] Re: Transmission takes bandwidth to crawl

2011-01-13 Thread Roony Alvarez
The speed limits in the gear icon are the same speed limits at
the top of the Edit > Preferences > Speed.
it *should* be, but its not, thats my point exactly. When i didnt notice
any change, i clicked on the gear icon and it still read "Unlimited",
even though i had just set it in the preferences dialog. After selecting
them in the drop-down menu, it worked.
In the Speed Tab of the Preferences dialog, is it possible that
you set the "Alternative Speed Limits" rather than the standard "Speed
Limits"?
Yes its possible, ive set them and then click the turtle icon, but after
adding some torrents ive noticed that this bandwidth issue its rather
random. I see the net graph (indicator applet) go up n down.. internet
works then it does not.. besides the dialogues not setting the correct
limits, its really not honoring them. I also reduced the number of peers
per torrent, but theres no noticeable effect: chart goes up just the
same from time to time.

[Bug 702438] [NEW] Transmission takes bandwidth to crawl

2011-01-13 Thread Roony Alvarez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

Transmission makes internet unusable.

Im using Transmission 2.13 (11501) on Maverick (linuxmint10)

- Start any torrent and watch transmission with default options render all
other internet related activities completely stalled.
- Now go edit/preferences, speed tab and limit the up/download global speeds.
Nothing changes, internet still inaccessible.
- Click on the gear icon at the bottom of the GUI, and set the speed limits
there. Internet goes back to normal.

So i do not think is a complex network config or data transfer issue..
but rather some mis-happening on the speed limits settings GUI, so u
might wanna look into this.

This has been discussed here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/460733 but somehow
im missing something? you talk about version 1.x ?? and apparently from a very
complex network point of view.
Plus its "invalid/wontfix" ¬¬?
