[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
In the hope of getting the importance of this bug raised I'd like to add that this bug is now stopping me from updating using the update manager. When it tries to open the authentication dialog box I get an alert window "Cannot grab Mouse". The only thing I can do then is close it with Alt-F4. Update manager then goes back and refreshes the package list and no update occurs. -- Mouse clicks stop working sporadically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
This bug has been effecting me for a very long time, over a number of different versions of Ubuntu (currently running 10.04.1) Something has changed recently however. When I initially encountered the problem, which was about a year ago it occurred quite frequently. I found a workaround which for some reason made it occur less often. That is have the system automagically log in to my guest account, then I log out and log in as me. (In this instance the guest account was effected by the bug, but I immediately logged out and thus was not a problem). Using this work around I've only had the problem on rare occasions over the last ~6 months+ (tbh I can't really recall the time frame, but it's been a long time). When it did occur I just logged out and back in and the problem was usually (but not always) resolved. Sometimes I had to resort to alt-F1 a terminal login as root and reboot. However sometime over the last week or two I've performed an update which has changed things dramatically. My workaround no longer works and the problem occurs with a far greater frequency. I can usually right click the last component I used (the one that has stolen the focus) bring up a context menu and the problem is resolved temporarily. Once it starts though it keeps re-occurring until I reboot. I note that as I type this the bug is currently in effect and that I notice nothing unusual in Bubble Monitor running in my panel; ie CPU, swap and memory use all appear normal and not under any strain. -- Mouse clicks stop working sporadically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 643701] Re: unmounting a tab/pane in nautilus closes window not tab/pane
I've also discovered that if you have the have focus on the pane you unmount then the behaviour is as expected. The pane you unmount closes and the window stays open with the other pane(s) displayed. In other words the bug only occurs when you unmount something that is in a pane that does not have focus. -- unmounting a tab/pane in nautilus closes window not tab/pane https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643701 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 643701] [NEW] unmounting a tab/pane in nautilus closes window not tab/pane
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus If you unmount something that is open in a tab in (the same?) nautilus window the entire window closes instead of just closing that tab. Scenario. I have a sftp bookmarked. I open that. Press F3 for a new pane or ctrl-t for a new tab - the same thing happens regardless. Click on Desktop in the Side Pane - making the new tab/pane show my Desktop Click the little unmount/eject icon for the mounted volume (sftp). Instead of closing the tab/pane for the (sftp) bookmark and leaving Nautilus displaying my Desktop the entire window closes. [Bug 293884] Re: window focus lost for unknown reason
I used the Update Manager to update to 9.10 and the problem appears to have been solved. -- window focus lost for unknown reason https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 293884] Re: window focus lost for unknown reason
While I am not the OP I am definately effected by this bug and still am. It's a problem for me with a fully to date 9.04 installation. - latest kernel etc. However its end of semester atm and I haven't had time to run the latest live CD. Exams finish for me Friday week. I will install 9.10 after that. Please re-open this bug and I will attend to above request as soon as I can. Thanks. -- window focus lost for unknown reason https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 293884] Re: window focus lost for unknown reason
I have a workaround. * (re)boot system * system automagically logs into a 'guest' account * log out of guest account, and login as me. Haven't had any issues if I do this. Yet if I boot and log in a me initially then the above problem persists. -- window focus lost for unknown reason https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 293884] Re: window focus lost for unknown reason
I've been fighting what seems to be this bug since after my 1st ~6months of using 7.10. I am now using 9.04, and regretting the update as problem disappeared in 8.10. I don't think its actually related to compiz as I just removed every hint of it from my system using synaptic, and rebooted. It's not limited to Firefox either. It happens with everything for me. Anyway the problem for me occurs as follows. You click on something an it doesn't loose focus. Subsequent clicks either act as if you've clicked on the same icon, window, panel, whatever again. Right clicking usually brings up a context menu, which resolves the problem, albeit temporarily. btw. scroll wheels also retain the (unintended) focus of the previous object. Previously I could ctrl-alt-Fx to get a terminal and then crtl-alt-F7 back to X and it would usually correct the problem, but not always. It doesn't work at all in 9.04. I would sometimes do multiple reboots or logins and that would help, but I only upgraded yesterday and my experience thus far with that is limited. When focus has been stolen the following does / doesn't happen: * alt-tab doesn't work * focus can be lost by clicking with mouse or using keyboard * you can still use most keyboard commands including alt-F4 * closing a window with alt-F4 will bring normal focus to the window/application behind it. * The highlighting of icons/buttons when hovering with mouse doesn't work. * right clicking anywhere will draw the context menu for the item thats stolen the focus, usually at the point where you clicked, but its origin can also be at the item itself. You can then left click outside the menu and resume normal operation, until it happens again about 30 seconds later. The only failing of this is it doesn't work when the stealing focus item doesn't have a context menu. Any further info required to help get this fixed, then please ask. Having said that I am about to try my last resort. Clean install using the 9.04 CD I just downloaded. (I am going to resize my / first though). ** Attachment added: "lspci -vnn output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25990802/lspci.txt -- window focus lost for unknown reason https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
