[Bug 1872107] [NEW] QEMU KVM live migration crashes when the VM is in booting state
Public bug reported: During a QEMU KVM live migration the sending process crashes if the VM is currently in a booting state (and possibly also during a 'soft' reboot from inside the VM). This has been fixed upstream: https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/9b3a31c745b61758aaa5466a3a9fc0526d409188 There are also bug reports available for this problem: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1771032 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1772774 I stumbled over this problem while testing latest builds of Ganeti (https://github.com/ganeti/ganeti) on Ubuntu Focal Fossa which ships qemu 4.2. The Ganeti QA suite runs a series of tests against a cluster and issues a VM failover (QEMU shutdown on Node A and start on Node B) directly followed by a live migration (QEMU live migration from Node B to Node A). The sending QEMU process dies with this error message: qemu-system-x86_64: /build/qemu-oknQD6/qemu-4.2/accel/kvm/kvm-all.c:653: kvm_log_clear_one_slot: Assertion `mem->dirty_bmap' failed. If you add 'sleep 2' between the reboot and the live migration instructions everything works fine, because the QEMU VM has left the booting state by the time the live migration starts. From a Ganeti point of view, this only happens when using the "sharedfile" storage backend. When you use e.g. DRBD, the Ganeti commands take a bit longer to finish which gives the VM enough time to boot up. Debian Bullseye (which ships the same QEMU version as Focal) shows the exact same behaviour. ** Affects: qemu-kvm Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1772774 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1772774 ** Also affects: qemu-kvm via https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1772774 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872107 Title: QEMU KVM live migration crashes when the VM is in booting state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu-kvm/+bug/1872107/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 879334] Re: nfsd from nfs-kernel-server very slow and system load from 25%-100% from nfsd
Same here. NFSv4 mounted home dirs (from a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS NFSv4 server) become very slow. Eventually the client machine freezes completely - reset button. Re: [Bug 953925] Re: Google talk connection using empathy gives Authenication failed at sign on
I've been having the same problem for a week or so. At every startup of Empathy, I would get the authentication problem. Sometimes it would take 2 or 3 retry attempts and the connection would finally succeed. Other times the connection would never succeed. As usual, it seems that the bug has disappeared now that I have reported it! When I logged into Empathy tonight, I had no trouble logging in at all. I assume it might be a difference between my home and work networks. I will follow up tomorrow. If the problem re-appears, I will update the AuthClient and MC log files. Can you confirm that Windows Update finds drivers for x32 but not for x64 versions of Windows? ** Bug watch added: Virtualbox Trac #5332 http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/5332 -- KVM and audio driver in Windows 7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419182 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394490] Re: xrandr: Configure crtc 0 invalid time
As mentioned in the bug report https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21987 this could well be a bug in the xrandr client tool. The xrandr client tool always uses CurrentTime, instead of the precise timestamp as returned from XRRGetScreenResources. What still escapes me, is why grandr is still working although it uses CurrentTime as well. -- xrandr: Configure crtc 0 invalid time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394490] Re: xrandr: Configure crtc 0 invalid time
Jaunty contains xrandr 1.2.99.4 (see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/+source/x11-xserver-utils/7.4+1). Between 1.2.99.4 and 1.3.0 are only 4 commits. I bisected the problem and beb228842c77fab4a446e028dd501a01f0fb3fd3 (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/xrandr/commit/?id=beb228842c77fab4a446e028dd501a01f0fb3fd3) resolved the problem. So the resolution is to update to xrandr 1.3.0 in sync with the xserver changes which revealed the problem in xrandr. -- xrandr: Configure crtc 0 invalid time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 339091] Re: [i945] (Needs UXA) X freezes a few minutes after resuming
I think I've might be experiencing the same bug: soon after resume (30 seconds) the display freezes with the symptoms as described above. Two additional observations: 1.) It is still possible to switch virtual terminals. (This is a real difference to the other sporadic freezes I experience rarely under heavy load) Switching to a text console and back into the X screen restores everything and I can continue to work! Screen input definitely gets through while the screen is frozen. The screen will freeze again some seconds later. Switching VTs helps again. This continues several times (about 5-10 times). After that no freezes any more. 2.) I almost never get freezes when I turn of LVDS and use an external VGA monitor. If I'm not fast enough there will be at most one freeze, which can resolved by switching VTs but then no freezes anymore. If you are affected as well by these freezes, could you please test if my observations hold with you as well and report! I guess this could help to distinguish between different types of freezes and perhaps even help identifying the problem. I'm using UXA on Jaunty with a kernel from a PPA: Linux 2.6.30-020630rc2-generic #020630rc2 SMP Wed Apr 15 13:20:18 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) -- [i945] (Needs UXA) X freezes a few minutes after resuming https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339091 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 363834] [NEW] NM comes up from suspend with state CONNECTED
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager Since the change introduced for #191889, NetworkManager comes up from suspend or hibernate with state CONNECTED. This is sent to DBus as well. This is a problem since all the interfaces are down yet. It makes subscribers to NetworkManager.StateChanged report spurious errors if they expect the network to be available. This applies to IMs like pidgin or synapse but probably to other apps as well. wrt #191889, the question is why NM thinks interfaces are not managed, if in fact they were managed before suspend.
