After manually installing nVidia display driver 290.10 the problem persists. This bug affects my machine too, running Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric. Video card is nVidia 9600GT with recommended nVidia driver 280.13. The launcher bar is corrupted after suspend and resume, as well as the top panel. [Bug 875571] Re: Panic occurred, switch back to text console and freezes - On 11.10
Unfortunately, kernel 3.1 panicked as well yesterday. Today I installed kernel 2.6.37 instead. Besides not panicking, that kernel has the advantage of consuming less power. I had the same issue on my Asus Eee-PC 1000H. It panicked several times as soon as I had begun using Ubuntu 11.10. I followed the advice from Joseph Salisbury and installed kernel 3.1.
