The git corruption symptom still occurs in 10.10 with ext4 + ecryptfs home. Same problem, with mac mini hardware, up-to-date Hardy Heron, 2.6.24-19-generic kernel, and locales_2.7.9-4_all : Generating locales... en_AU.UTF-8... And then freezes.
