[Bug 642539] Re: problem in handling the display size in evolution under calender and contacts section

2010-10-18 Thread SGosnell
I also have the problem on an Asus eee-pc 900 with Ubuntu 10.10. I run
Evolution, click on the Calendar button, and when the calendar displays,
the display seems to be the wrong size. Clicking anywhere on the
calendar makes the screen jump up, and the click registers some distance
above or below where the click was to happen, and results in a wrong or
no action. Worked fine under 10.04, and on other versions of Ubuntu and
Debian.

[Bug 659681] Re: Suspend/Resume doesn't work after upgrade to 10.10

2010-10-17 Thread SGosnell
This also occurs booting from 2.6.34.020634 kernel, which worked without
issues with 10.04.

[Bug 659681] Re: Suspend/Resume doesn't work after upgrade to 10.10

2010-10-17 Thread SGosnell
This also affects me, on an Asus eee-pc 900. After suspend, I get a
black screen, and the computer is completely unresponsive. It requires
turning the computer completely off and a cold boot. The computer has
suspended perfectly under previous Ubuntu versions.

[Bug 577113] Re: AT SPI registry not responding

2010-08-27 Thread SGosnell
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 477978 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477978

I usually get it after Nautilus crashes. Nautilus crashes or won't
load, everything hangs, and when I reboot, I get an error dialog saying
AT SPI Registry is not responding, and usually File Manager is also not
responding. It's getting to be very frequent in Lucid.

[Bug 428471] Re: python-poker-network crashed during setup

2009-10-07 Thread SGosnell
I was finally able to remove this app by editing /etc/dbconfig-common/
config files as root, and removing the apparently self-generated
password, and setting everything else to false.

[Bug 428471] Re: python-poker-network crashed during setup

2009-10-07 Thread SGosnell
I have the same problem. I cannot uninstall this thing, it just refuses
to go away. I want it gone, and my apt-get/synaptic/aptitude is broken
because it tries to do removal every time I run them for anything. I'm
very sorry I ever installed it in the first place.

Where would I find that kernel? I've been using
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ for kernels, and I don't see
that kernel there.

Re: [Bug 428202] Re: 2.6.31 kernel won't boot

2009-09-17 Thread SGosnell
I can probably install the kernel, but I won't have access to a suitable
broadband connection for a few days. I'm at a rural work location, and
downloads bog down the company internet connection badly. It's very slow in
any case, but it's the best the phone company can provide out here, and
we're lucky to have any DSL at all. I also had planned to wait for the
actual release of Karmic before installing it, because I need a working
computer. Jaunty works well enough, and changing kernels is pretty simple
and reversible if one doesn't work.

[Bug 428202] [NEW] 2.6.31 kernel won't boot

2009-09-11 Thread SGosnell
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 9.04, standard vanilla Gnome desktop, on an Asus EEE PC
900. Installed .31 kernel, and it won't boot. The splash screen comes
up, and after a few seconds it goes to a blank black screen, hard drive
activity continues for a few more seconds, and then everything freezes.
Waiting for more than an hour gives the same result. I had the same
problem with rc6, 7, & 8, and now with the full .31 release. The .30
kernel works flawlessly, but the .31 won't boot at all.

[Bug 339891] Re: [Jaunty] wireless rt2860sta not connecting in 9.04

2009-03-30 Thread SGosnell
I get the same result from the beta on my EEE 900, and on a Toshiba
Satellite. WPA will not connect. Using Alpha 6, it worked fine, and
with the .29 kernel it works fine. I'm using the .29 kernel, and
probably won't use the .28 kernel at all. Something changed between
alpha 6 and the beta, and not for the better.

[Bug 334446] Re: Remove gnome-pilot from Ubuntu

2009-03-03 Thread SGosnell
There is still a huge installed base of Palm users, and Palm continues
to produce smartphones with PalmOS installed. Palm isn't going out of
business. I don't see how it hurts anyone to have a feature essential
for lots of people in the default distro. Just because some don't use
it, that doesn't mean nobody else should.
