[Bug 870547] Re: kubuntu installer is missing croatian timezone

2018-04-02 Thread Sinisa Habek
This was fixed a long time ago. Just to be sure, I've checked Ubuntu and
Kubuntu installers for latest version (17.10) - 'Croatia' entry is
there. Tnx.

[Bug 1622249] [NEW] Gdebi close after installing dependencies

2016-09-10 Thread Sinisa Perovic
Public bug reported:

Hi.

On Elementary OS Loki 0.4 stable (Linux 4.4.0-38-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep
6 15:42:33 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
) Gdebi (0.9.5.7ubuntu1) when installing a package with dependencies and
checkbox to automatically close the window after successful installation is
selected, just exits when it is done with the dependencies. After that the main
package must be clicked again to install it, this time without having any
dependencies, since those were installed on the first run.

Cheers.

[Bug 1494915] [NEW] fglrx-core 2:15.200-0ubuntu4.2: fglrx-core kernel module failed to build

2015-09-11 Thread Sinisa Radalj
Public bug reported:

i report and came with normal update of kernel from 27 to 28, but even
before reboot with install(update manager?)my system got broken, and have
broken package, even i try SMART type of upgrade,

so i coose to report as new ,but i know this was very popular bug in
aug/2015

when this even get thrue update to user of stable verstion-LTS, what to
say 1st time i saw it when update kernel to .26 then situation was same
with ipdate to .27 then i fix it,and have stable system and hae nice
conversation about ,as i report but i also write my solution, but really
i dont expect that with regular updates i get updates with boroke my
system,but this time i keep last kernel ver 27, ( 3.19.0-27-generic
#29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug)

so simular or same bug with upgrading to kernel 25 to 26,
then same from upgrading from 26 to 27
and as i see now, steel same with upgrading from 27 to 28..

i think i will really go as many adviced back to orginal kernel 25! as
this is ...nice updates ,after which regular user have broken system, and
normal user even can not go to terminal as loging to any other TTY
1,2,3,4,5,6 except TTY7 not going...

i will not give up from Ubintu..but many will... its serious bug,and this kind
of update sure must not go to normal ,ordinary just user.
i think that all this is so unstabile and untested, that i can skip all this
...and go or back to 3.19.o-25 or directlly to kernel 4.1and skip all this ...

[Bug 1486673] Re: Attempting to enable multi-screen mode via amdcccle (with screen 1 to the right of screen 2) causes X to crash severely, as soon as you hit "OK" or "Apply"

2015-08-26 Thread Sinisa Radalj
interesting is that i fix it ,when i accept fglrx-updates ,after i run
apt-get update in recovery console with read write mode with
networking, and more interesting is that i do not install fglrx-updates
,and even after log in i double check in over menu in ubuntu in
software and updates or neither with package manager i do not have
fglrx-updates at all, and i do not use fglrx-updates.. i use fglrx
manually installed.. synaptic knows for sure.

sure i will not erase last and older version of kernel so fast ,as i
used to be spoiled due no problems for so long time..

well trick is obviously that even one step down to older kernel not help
in my case and lead me in wrong way ,seems 2 step down is right to
exactly that one which came with 15.04..so that's why when you overwrite
with re-install all works.

but i keep with newest, and seems all is not perfect as i keep getting
red triangle, not immediately but came after few hours..,but no package
is reported broken in package manager..now came again after update of
ubuntu base..

sure i will read all mentioned links..well about affected people is more
then two,as as soon i can go on internet i read solution for similar&
same symptoms,to go back to original kernel which is shipped with
15.04..just those not reported bug..

well it so easy to overwrite just system partition,(and keep all
settings in all other partitions),and then reinstall additional
programs, seems and look more like update.. . life can be even more easy
and good with ubuntu..but i am sorry for those who keep all on one
partition..well i have red triangle from time to time, but no package is
broken and all i try works...

sure i will now read all mentioned links, and links from there, thanks a
lot for that and respond.

[Bug 1487576] [NEW] login loop →fglrx-core (not installed): fglrx-core kernel module failed to build

2015-08-21 Thread Sinisa Radalj
Public bug reported:

installed manually as usual but on ubuntu 15.04 first time i get same
situation when upgrading to kernel 26 ,and now after cleaning everything
for loop after login and that means changing lightdm to gdm and back,
reinstaling and resetting unity, enabling compiz unity plugin, do all
what need to be done about Xauthority and ICEauthority...and after all
those when i manged to have step by step my gui back and to work all
like before and that means not using upstart, using light dm,usig unity
and compiz ,and unity compiz plugin enabled ,all but again on open
source driver and there i pass from lvm-pipe to gallium...so to be clear
i get like it was just again i wanted to have fglrx working, and yes i
know how to install it manually and so many times i do it/and every time
i manage to fix situation one way or other to not do fresh install..

so first time i saw this when i accept upgrade from 3.19...25 kernel
to3.19..26 ,so i investigate all those above..to get gui workable even i
must restart unity and on screen as user start again compiz, but never
mind ..i choose to report this bug-situation as now i know answer and
seems its so easy to repet and to recover and more of to avoid that..

fgrx driver work flawlessly on 3.19..25
kernel update(now i know ,and as so many user i get loop ,i do not expect that
i need to back to older kernel.. and older kernel i erase ,remove to not occupy
space as usual routine..

so when all other thing works well i try to do from open source to fglrx driver
update but i was lazy and i choose to simply do it over gui,add aditional
driver..but that finish with black screen too..
over recovery console i purge again fglrx driver ,and prepare all to load
install open source driver and voila first on lvm-pipe and then on Gallium
driver.. to be litlle bit more complicated this is uefi boot option was
diff, more of grphic card not have GOP bios.all lead me to wrong side..

then with all working (in mean time in one of recovery session i do updates as
if is some fix let it came..so came newer kernel 3.19...27 and then on that
kernel i boot in efi mode without upstart.. on galium and then i try to do step
by step fglrx driver manually
but again after reboot i ended in login loop.. and can open other tty
1,2,3,4,5,6 only tty7 and login loop ...well then i check if is same situation
without uefi boot, and yes it is..and then in recovery boot i was ready to purge
fglrx driver and to go back from kernel 3.19...27 way back to kernel 3.19...25
as i read that is solution ,so this is not and not affecting only me,just i do
maybe more aroud this..so to be clear fglrx or fglrx updates was not working on
both updated kernel 26 and then 27... but
before i purge both of it ,i simply do as routine update with enabled network
and mounted disc in rw mode...so i was suprised
over update came updated version for fglrx-core and fglrx amdcccle.. from
revision 1 to revision 2.. so i give that try..

and now my desktop works.. without need to go back to kernel 3.19...25

just if somebody is interesting this is error log when fglrx driver is
manually installed/builded for kernel 3.19...27

yes i know that will be problems ,but i choose to investigate as much i can,and
seems there is one more thing on list what can cause login loop..
so it not unity, not unity compiz ,not missing signature of still unsupported
card, its obvious what is,i learn to not switch so fast to newest kernel..but
good news is after same situation ,but not exactlly same reason problems are
noted and solution came over fglrx updates ,even in reality i do manual install
of fglrx not fglrx-updates.. which crash with previous 26 kernel.. at least i
copy situation what was after manual install of fglrx ,and save it,and write
easy solution.. maybe will save time to somebody, and sure is interesting..at
least in all those thing i remove iommu and install this time fglrx ,well
recovery do install of fglrx-updates and overwrite to to even newer sub
version,so now i have fglrx working again, and without hardware or software
iommu,so i will try again to enable crossfire..what was other real bug..when
usb keyboard and usb mouse ,and even networking not working as when hardware
iommu is disabled in bios...if previouslly was enabled..or fglrx driver was
installed with iommu on,regardless iommu on in bios or software iommu sw in
grub config to kernel..well interesting story..next time i will wait one week
before upgrading kernel or fglrx updates..lol!

solution: reboot in recovery mode, enable networking,do auto repair, acc.
updates ,and somehow fglrx-updates will overwrite and fill what is
missing ..even was installed just fglrx not fglrx-updates.. that is only
thing what is still strange to me..

What happens is that wireless signal is lost every few minutes,
sometimes on every half hour or so. I guess it depends on strength of
the AP signal.

Also, every signal to AP is show as "weak" no matter how close i am to
the AP it self.

This is from dmesg

2014-09-03 Thread Sinisa Radalj
just to mark there is no more issue on this and close this topic ,as
dvbt based cards on this chip works with mod of Ambrosa mentioned above
,and that workaround is so wide tested on ubuntu international ,and my
local ubuntu forum, and even is orginally made to work with kernels for
64bit machine, with add of headers can work on kernel for 32bit, as i
personally test on both and on wide range NOT ONLY TV branded usb and
pci cards, only on some cards extra feature of digital radio on some of
them can not be enabled with just this solution.. one more thanks to
mr. ambrosa and all those what he mentioned (inside).and list of vids
and pids which can and work with his or sligtlly modded his solution is
much more wider.Just as long as this chip is inside.

2011-12-10 Thread Sinisa Radalj
but wiki of linux tv says:
The reason for this is because Ubuntu had a bug in their packaging of the
kernel headers. This seems to be fixed on a fully updated systtem (5 July 2011)
This was a long standing issue, and one of the most frequently reported on the
mailing list.

my system is fully updated. Now is Dec 2011. ...and here i get status

Manually installed graphic card XFX ATI 6850, proprietary driver 11.8
(actual, newest) trick is to downgrade amdcccle(at least in my case) for one
version down, and now that solved not only this issue, and for big suprise
for me all other aplication( or most of it) not report crash anymore

Now i can start even new ubuntu software center, which before don't even want

[Bug 460241] [NEW] ghdl diagnostics might be improved

2009-10-25 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ghdl

In order to test a vhdl design in our environment with ghdl, one should
say:

ghdl --elab-run --std=00 --ieee=synopsys MyComponentTB

This works nicely, however, my students often make a mistake
by specifying the *component file* instead of component name:

ghdl --elab-run --std=00 --ieee=synopsys MyComponentTB.vhdl

ghdl then aswers with:

/usr/lib/ghdl/bin/ghdl:*command-line*: bad character in identifier

And that's game over for my students, they then start
to complain about ghdl in general, and propose
doing their work only in Xilinx' software.

My suggestion would be to print an additional help message,
such as "did you specify a file name instead of the component identifier?",
before the correct complaint about a bad character '.'.

Cheers,

Sinisa

[Bug 406121] [NEW] nVIDIA Driver 185.18.14 (32bit linux) stops working if updating Ubuntu after driver is installed

2009-07-28 Thread Sinisa Spasojevic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I've managed to make this happen twice, with clean Ubuntu installations
( Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope ).

Steps I used first time:

1. Clean install of Ubuntu (format existing partitions, no upgrades)
2. Install driver from www.nvidia.com (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run)
3. Everthing works fine, desktop effects enabled, opengl games are working etc.
4. Ubuntu pops-up update window, bunch of updates listed, so I didn't check it
thoroughly, just clicked "ok".
5. After update, gdm fails, and pops-up options (in low-res screen) to either
reconfigure display, use previously saved display setup etc. Works only if
display is reconfigured to use Ubuntu's initial display mode (without nvidia
drivers)
6. Tried to uninstall nvidia driver, to be able to install it again. Uninstall
reports bunch of nVIDIA files missing for uninstallation (?)

Steps I used second time:

1. Clean install
2. Update Ubuntu first
3. Install driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.14-pkg1.run)
4. Everything works fine, desktop effects, opengl games...
5. Install Blender, OpenOffice, driver works without problems.
6. After few days, Ubuntu pops-up update window, unfortunately I didn't write
down what was updated (is there a way to list system updates from specific
date? I'm new in Linux/Ubuntu waters..).
7. driver stops working, same as (5) in first time.

Hardware I use:

ASUS a8js (laptop)

- nvidia 7700 go 512mb
- Core2 duo 2ghz intel
- 2gb ram
- display 1440 x 900

Hope this helps.

[Bug 130593] incorrect paper size

2007-08-06 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Public bug reported:

When creating pdf presentations with prosper in feisty,
the resulting pdf files have a wrong paper size,
letter instead of A4.

How to reproduce:
===

% file: try.tex
\documentclass[a4paper,pdf,default]{prosper}
\begin{document}
  bla bla bla
\end{document}

$ latex try
$ dvips -ta4 try.dvi -o try.ps
$ ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE=a4 try.ps

$ gv try.ps % (A4 paper, OK)
$ xpdf try.pdf % (letter paper, WRONG)
$ pdfinfo try.pdf % (says A4!)

How to fix
==
0. open try.ps in vi
1. search for CropBox
2. replace the line below...
SDict begin [ /CropBox [10 40 594 800] /PAGES pdfmark end
3. with the following line
SDict begin [ /CropBox [0 0 595 842] /PAGES pdfmark end
4. ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE=a4 try.ps
5. xpdf try.pdf % a4 paper, OK)

How this came to pass
==

I guess some other package (used by prosper)
redefines pdf cropping box
which is set in prosper to A4,
despite we say a4paper in documentclass...

HTH,

Siniša

[Bug 122254] gs-esp looks for fonts ad infinitum

2007-06-26 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gs-esp

Description
==

The default gs on my system freezes
after trying to load inexisting fonts.
Additionally, the system becomes almost unresponsive,
so that killing the required process becomes a real pain.
This makes most problems when gs
is invoked from other programs
such as gv, pstopdf etc.
Note that this does not concerns the other gs version,
gs-gpl, which is also installed, but usually not invoked
since /usr/bin/gs links to /usr/bin/gs-esp.
The problem can be easily reproduced as follows:

$ gs-esp
ESP Ghostscript 815.04 (2007-03-14)
Copyright (C) 2004 artofcode LLC, Benicia, CA. All rights reserved.
This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details.

Versions etc.

[Bug 58231] Re: copy paste does not work in all text box

2007-06-08 Thread Sinisa Segvic
There's an even funnier part: if you press Ctrl+V,
then the paste also goes to the edit box.

Shift+Ins works as you described.

I would never expect Ctrl-V and Shift+Ins doing different things :-)

Note that middle button also works correctly.

[Bug 58231] Re: copy paste does not work in all text box

2007-06-08 Thread Sinisa Segvic
The same happens on my 6.10 box at work
This bug has been present for a long time, a few years at least.
It occured also on debian sarge.
Whenever there is an open file in the editor box,
pasting to search box makes changes in the editor box.
I'd love to see this fixed :-)

[Bug 70367] Re: imlib1 does not correctly handle 32-bit visuals

2007-03-22 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Just to let you know that I also seem to have a problem
with this bug on edgy.

My program uses libImlib.so.11 for drawing images into an XWindow.
This functionality has been stable at least since 2000.
The problem manifests only with random garbled images displayed.
No crash whatsoever.

The problem goes away after saying XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1.

Hope this helps and thanks for the solution!

[Bug 63711] The kernel does not boot

2006-10-03 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Public bug reported:

The kernel does not boot, finishes with
"cannot open root device",
"unable to mount root".
I guess that he misses some modules in initrd,
since I have succeeded to boot
when I buiilt the kernel from source.
Other problems jumped out then,
so perhaps I will not be able to use
my expensive hardware with legacy drivers...

[Bug 61643] jama should be in the same dir with tnt

2006-09-21 Thread Sinisa Segvic
Public bug reported:

In short, jama does not compile out of the box,
since jama_svd.h says:

#include "tnt_array1d.h"

Thus including it results in:

/usr/local/include/jama/jama_svd.h:5:25: error: tnt_array1d.h: No such
file or directory

This could be fixed by adding -I directives, but that's not very elegant.
Also, one could say in jama_xxx.h:
#include ,
but this perhaps should be done by the people who develop the software not the
people who prepare the packages.
Finally, the simplest solution IMHO is to package jama and tnt together.
