[Bug 540801] Re: X server starts before Plymouth, or a very short time after (no or brief splash)
Hello! @Florian Snow: Did you have done with sudo? To modify initramfs tools, you must be connected with root permissions. Read comment n°29 and try the method of Chritian Göbel. It works for me with an intel graphic card on Ubunut 10.04 and 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/540801 Title: X server starts before Plymouth, or a very short time after (no or brief splash) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 619343] Re: High CPU on events/0 or 1 and on board networkcard non functional
Powering off, and removing the battery for a minute worked for me as well (My wired network is back and no more CPU spikes due to event/0) Thanks a lot David !!! -- High CPU on events/0 or 1 and on board networkcard non functional https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619343 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 619343] Re: High CPU on events/0 or 1 and on board networkcard non functional
I've had very similar problems with my lenovo x61 Tablet running 10.04. I've tried with 2.6.32.-21, 22, 23, and 25, and same event/0 or event/1 CPU spiking (and networks LEDs on the whole time since the Starting Up message, right after choosing the kernel we want to use in grub. I can only use wireless: Wired network doesn't work anymore and the Wired Networks menu always displays Disconnected and is greyed out. typing sudo ip link set eth0 down stops the CPU spikes as well. -- High CPU on events/0 or 1 and on board networkcard non functional https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619343 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 554172] Re: CUPS and other system services not starting at boot
As a very average nonexpert user, I want to point out that I have been switching to Windows for 2 months now, each time I wanted to print, because I didn't have time to hunt for the forums. It is only a couple of days ago that I got so frustrated with Lucid Lynx not printing, that I finally found this bug report page ( learned the different workaround tips)... Many users probably, like I did, just reboot on windows to print, and some, maybe many, probably abandon the Lynx altogether (this bug is really annoying). You may be losing a number of non-expert users if you continue to perceive this bug as only high priority, based on the little hundred of users following this bug report... It may be affecting many more people (i.e. a severe impact on a large portion of Ubuntu users), but not necessarily the people who populated the user forums launchpad webpages... Of course, it's hard to tell... Good luck with solving this bug asap, which is a nasty thorn in your lynx's paw! (Of course, I am one of the many people incapable of applying the more cumbersome workarounds described by some users on this webpage... I just reinstalled CUPS hope that will do for now...) -- CUPS and other system services not starting at boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 460705] Re: [Sony Corporation VGN-SZ1M_B] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
I have send the apport information with the latest CD available but without installing the non-free nvidia drivers. Going into suspend is fine, it is coming back from it that fails with a blurry screen that looks likes as if the frequency is wrong. I will try get the upstream kernel with my actual install (with nvidia drivers, witch fails resume somewhat ramdomly) and see if there is any improvements. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the tests. -- [Sony Corporation VGN-SZ1M_B] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 288252] Re: recording not working properly
I have a Conexant Audio on ATI IXP on a HP Pavillion zv6000. I started up the 8.10RC Live CD and tested out sound recording. Problem 1: Every real second of recording resulted in approximately 30 seconds (definitely not a whole minute though) of recorded audio. In about a minute, I had a 22 minute audio file. Problem 2: I did File-New to create a new recording project. It then created a new window with the title Untitled - 4 while the previous window had been simply Untitled. The default file listed on the bottom was now Untitled (3) whilst the previous was just Untitled. I am not sure where it got '4' or '3' from, let alone how it was getting different numbers on default for the same project. Just default numbers, a minor bug, but still. Problem 3: I decided to record again. This time it only got up to 3 minutes and 30 seconds (actually about 6 real seconds) before seemingly pausing itself and killing the gnome panels. Now I just had a bare desktop wallpaper with the recording app above it. A few seconds later, the entire system froze and I couldn't move my mouse or reboot X (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace). -- recording not working properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 71836] Segfault in Samba (kerberos related)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba Using samba on AD. Changes made from the time that it was working to now: - added to smb.conf: use kerberos keytab = True - re-ran 'net join' Files are still accessable. Authentication still works. I have not yet noticed anything other than the following email I receive every time a file is accessed: The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for pid 23905 (/usr/sbin/smbd). Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows the state of the program at the time the error occurred. If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the samba-dbg package which contains the debugging symbols for samba binaries. Then, submit the provided information as a bug report to Ubuntu.
