[Bug 1105900] Re: Latest Kernel Version 3.2.0-36 Causing EXT4-fs Errors

2013-08-08 Thread Salik Rafiq
Presently have updated to kernel 3.2.0-49-generic-pae and have monitored
over two weeks and not a single ext4 buddy error has been created.

Can others move up to this kernel and validate. This seems to have cured
my issue. Think I'll lock myself down at this one.

2013-06-29 Thread Salik Rafiq
After one week my log shows a single buddy error. This is a distinct
improvement. Hopefully the next kernel update will totally cure it.

2013-06-25 Thread Salik Rafiq
This is interesting.
Just put on kernel 3.2.0-48 pae and over the past three days no buddy errors
reported in the logs.

Will monitor over the next couple of weeks, so far, whatever was done to
the kernel, appears to have cured my issue.

[Bug 1105900] Re: Latest Kernel Version 3.2.0-36 Causing EXT4-fs Errors

2013-04-03 Thread Salik Rafiq
I too am experiencing buddy errors with EXT4.
using  3.2.0-39-generic-pae
The volume giving the errors is a RAID 1 setup using dmraid. So I wonder if in
this situation there is an issue there. This volume was upgraded from ext3 as
well.

I don't see errors in the other ext4 volumes.

The errors I am seeing are

I have another server which is using Ubuntu 10.04 and it reports 0 EXT4
errors, even though it has a much larger RAID 5 also using dmraid.

[Bug 364531] Re: Unable to migrate Intrepid slapd.conf configuration to Jaunty

I correct myself. my slapd is not running I have the following errors in

[Bug 364531] Re: Unable to migrate Intrepid slapd.conf configuration to Jaunty

2009-04-28 Thread Salik Rafiq
I was upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 and so not using slapd.conf. I get
this error..

Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.d/ in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1... done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  - directory dc=cham,dc=local... done.
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1:
Directory /var/lib/ldap/DB1 for dc=cham,dc=local not empty, aborting.
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 slapd

I keep my database in a custom location. DB1 is a soft link to a
partition on my LVM RAID.

The software seems to work okay..apt just thinks is half-configured. I
wouldn't mind a way to make it marked 'configured'. Unless there is some
database change..but can't think why that would be the case...

[Bug 322847] Re: DVD problem - Semi-Solved.

2009-02-11 Thread Salik Rafiq
Can I just add that I have the LG GH22LNP20 (IDE) and am having similar
problems with the latest Ubuntu Kernel (8.10) and sometimes prevents the
machine from booting. The message are idential to what Nicolas is
receiving. I tried Ubuntu 8.04 but the drive could not be mounted at
all. I haven't tried any new cables as I think the cables are good. The
machine previously had a old Sony CD-ROM combo. I have to replace it as
it knocked out.

Hope this ends up with a final fix for this in the kernel.

[Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds

2008-07-03 Thread Salik Rafiq
I have this problem too. I am using Hardy 8.04 - 2.6.24-19 (it also happened in
-16). UUID all match fine.
BUT I have edited init to add sleep 10 in premount and mount stages. Since I
did that the splash disappears
when "Reading files needed to boot".

I suspect a problem with the image created by update-initramfs and not
with usplash...though I'm not and expert and perhaps a signal is sent to
usplash to kill it.

I can't find anything in my logs about it however. Will hunt around and
see what I can find.
