Solution found - I had not checked the budget checkbox for the account. This step is not mentioned on the budget page of the user manual. Have tested on Ubuntu and Windows with example.xhb and budget appears correctly. Therefore, I would sugegst that there is a usability issue to do with the way that I am using the budget feature. I have HomeBank 4.4 installed on Windows 7. Lots of entries in bank account. Set up budget. Opened Budget Report. Budget column shows correct values.
