Solution found - I had not checked the budget checkbox for the account.
This step is not mentioned on the budget page of the user manual. I will
work on editing the budget pages of the user manual and submit an
updated version to you.

Have tested on Ubuntu and Windows with example.xhb and budget appears
correctly. Therefore, I would sugegst that there is a usability issue to
do with the way that I am using the budget feature. I will investigate
further to work out the difference between the example file and my data
file to see what is different, and whether any additional details are
required in the user manual.

I have HomeBank 4.4 installed on Windows 7. Lots of entries in bank
account. Set up budget. Opened Budget Report. Budget column shows
correct values. Spent column is empty.
