[Bug 1752431] Re: Gnome Shell Wayland session crashes on startup - artful

2018-03-29 Thread Sam Freed
Regarding the bug I filed with mutter, they sent me this, I am at a
loss:

"Jonas Ã…dahl commented:

First there is no such thing as "glnative" backend. Secondly, please
write proper bug reports. A very generic title and linking to an
external bug tracker is not enough."

[Bug 700214] Re: File went missing as soon as download completed

2018-01-25 Thread Sam Freed
I have the same issue, on Ubuntu 17.10. I solved it by moving the
download-to directory to home. My "Desktop" is a symlink to
DropBox/Desktop, which is a DropBox, with that may entail.

In summary - my suspicion is that it is DropBox to blame.

[Bug 790075] Re: Rejected Pictures show up as icons representing a date.

2011-05-30 Thread Sam Freed
Clarification: Images that should NOT be displayed (since they are
rejected) are used as the representative image in the monthly view,
representing a specific date. Maybe this is only when that date contains
only rejected pictures, I am not clear on this. Anyhow, rejected
pictures sould not display when you havn;t explicitly asked for them.

HAHA! (small dance around)

I found it! Nothing messes modern linux up worse than not having the
loopback interface configured properly, to 127.0.0.1, also in
/etc/hosts.

This is the source of the ODDEST bugs!

HAHA! (small dance around)

I found it! Nothing messes modern linux up worse than not having the
loopback interface configured properly, to 127.0.0.1, also in
/etc/hosts.

This is the source of the ODDEST bugs!

[Bug 537133] Re: mountall issues with NFS root filesystem

2010-06-30 Thread Sam Freed
I got a similar situation to Philippe DUBRULLE above net-booting an
arch= 386 old laptop diskless, from an AMD64 server, all Lucid.

The client freezes just after it is done with initrd. A friend suggested
pinging the machine continuously, and lo and behold I got 7 responses,
before the whole thing froze. Same friend suggested mv
/etc/init/network/* /tmp/TRASH, this means no-one will try to re-init
my NICS while I am on an NFS root. It worked, I can login. What would be
a more correct solution, I know not.

Over to you, oh gods of Ubuntu.
