[Bug 178173] Re: Font problems with .tex files and special (danish) characters
I think I'm hitting the same issue on an up-to-date installation of 10.10. What I did, essentially, is: 1. install emacs, org-mode, texlive-latex-base, texlive-latex-recommended 2. create an org file with Cyrillic characters, in UTF-8 3. request org-export to PDF Here's what I'm getting for the very first cyrillic character, in the Shell interaction emacs buffer: This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009/Debian) restricted \write18 enabled. entering extended mode (/home/deepfire/src/pyzzle/doc/documentation.tex LaTeX2e <2009/09/24> Babel and hyphenation patterns for english, usenglishmax, dumylang, noh yphenation, loaded. [Bug 609883] Re: No wheel emulation by default on thinkpad X200s
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Wheel emulation using vertical drag+middle button is a very reasonable expectation, as well as the behavior seen on windows, as shipped with Thinkpad laptops. However it is not enabled by default in Ubuntu, and one has to install and use gpointing-device-settings to achieve this behavior. Perhaps, there should be a special system, combining a bunch of input (or maybe other) device presets with a laptop model detection mechanism. + --- + Architecture: i386 + DRM.card0.DisplayPort.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.DisplayPort.2: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.DisplayPort.3: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.2: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.LVDS.1: + status: connected + enabled: enabled + dpms: On + modes: 1280x800 + edid-base64: AP///wAwrhFAAAUTAQOAGhF46pjVklxYlCccUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBEhsAhFAgEjAoGjQABKoQAAAYjxYAhFAgEjAoGjQABKoQAAAYDwCBCjyBCjIWCQANrzMS/gBOMTIxSUItTDA1CiAgAFQ= + DRM.card0.VGA.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: Off + modes: + edid-base64: + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + EcryptfsInUse: Yes + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) + MachineType: LENOVO 74653TG + Package: xorg 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-24-generic root=UUID=a64f9c47-2290-4326-aa93-96accfa604f7 ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=en_US.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic 2.6.35.8 + Tags: maverick ubuntu-une maverick + Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 09/17/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.bios.version: 7XET60WW (3.10 ) + dmi.board.name: 74653TG + dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.board.version: Not Available + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.chassis.version: Not Available + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7XET60WW(3.10):bd09/17/2009:svnLENOVO:pn74653TG:pvrThinkPadX200s:rvnLENOVO:rn74653TG:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: + dmi.product.name: 74653TG + dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X200s + dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO + glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + system: + distro: Ubuntu + codename: maverick + architecture: i686 + kernel: 2.6.35-24-generic ** Attachment added: "BootDmesg.txt" https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/609883/+attachment/1776296/+files/BootDmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609883 Title: No wheel emulation by default on thinkpad X200s -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So, in short, no, no plugin -- no reproduction :-) In fact, it was modplug's brokenness which prompted me to go libdumb, and as modplug works almost (I'll file a bug soonish) fine for me, I've no reasons to want a libdumb plugin, at least for now. -- regards, Samium Gromoff -- "Actually I made up the term 'object-oriented', and I can tell you I did not have C++ in mind." - Alan Kay (OOPSLA 1997 Keynote) -- modplug input plugin renders modules into silence https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 661816] [NEW] unity: no way to access the ubuntu-icon-window from keyboard

The following, important default shortcuts do not work: - Alt+F1, 'Show the panel's main menu' - Alt+F2, 'Show the panel's "Run Application" dialog' I can imagine that the first shortcut is probably a misnomer for whatever screen Unity pulls out on user pressing the Ubuntu icon, but the latter doesn't seem to have a shortcut at all, so it at least a more or less obvious map... ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- unity: important default shortcuts not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661810 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 661801] [NEW] unity: closing fullscreen apps yields unprettiness
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity There are two notions of full screening: WM-level, and application- level, with the former not being bound to a keystroke, and the latter being app-dependent, but mostly F11. So, when you do WM-level fullscreening, Unity properly detects that and autohides itself, which can be seen through a translucent terminal window. The problem is that when you close the WM-fullscreened window, Unity doesn't reappear, leaving ugly white rectangles it its place. If I deWMfullscreen the app, then Unity properly reappears, though. EDIT: this is on Maverick, UNR. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: unity There are two notions of full screening: WM-level, and application- level, with the former not being bound to a keystroke, and the latter being app-dependent, but mostly F11. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity 0. disable desktop effects (so that metacity is in charge, not compiz) 1. set the virtual desktop layout to be a grid of 4x5, total of 20 desktops, 2. save settings 3. try to switch to another desktop and see metacity die 4. log out 5. log in and see the whole gnome session being affected, to the point of gnome-panel not starting, sometimes even nautilus not starting. 6. try to run nautilus, navigate to /usr/bin and launch gnome-appearance-properties (or whatever) 7. re-enable desktop effects 8. set the virtual desktop layout to be a grid of 4x4, total of 16 desktops, 9. re-disable desktop effects 10. watch everything work like a charm This bug appears to be fairly reproducible, as metacity breaks the same in debian sid over NX as in local ubuntu with effects disabled. [Bug 609903] [NEW] [needs-packaging] mupdf: blinding-fast, lightweight, quality-render PDF viewer
Public bug reported: >From the homepage -- http://www.mupdf.com/: MuPDF is a lightweight PDF viewer and toolkit written in portable C. The renderer in MuPDF is tailored for high quality anti-aliased graphics. It renders text with metrics and spacing accurate to within fractions of a pixel for the highest fidelity in reproducing the look of a printed page on screen. MuPDF has a small footprint. A binary that includes the standard Roman fonts is only one megabyte. A build with full CJK support (including an Asian font) is approximately five megabytes. MuPDF has support for all non-interactive PDF 1.7 features, and the toolkit provides a simple API for accessing the internal structures of the PDF document. Example code for navigating interactive links and bookmarks, encrypting PDF files, extracting fonts, images, and searchable text, and rendering pages to image files is provided. *** License is GPL3. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: needs-packaging ** Summary changed: - [needs-packaging] mupdf: blinding-fast, quality-render PDF viewer + [needs-packaging] mupdf: blinding-fast, lightweight, quality-render PDF viewer -- [needs-packaging] mupdf: blinding-fast, lightweight, quality-render PDF viewer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609903 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 609899] [NEW] cannot open the same document twice using evince
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince It seems to be impossible to get two evince windows with the same PDF file open in them. Both obvious ways to do this fail: - clicking the file/running evince with the file as argument does /not/ open a second window - running evince, and then opening the same file does nothing -- the second window stays blank, or document-less, so to speak. This can be circumvented, more or less expectedly, by symlinking the file and supplying evince that symlink, however, this is obviously suboptimal. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- cannot open the same document twice using evince https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609899 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Wheel emulation using vertical drag+middle button is a very reasonable expectation, as well as the behavior seen on windows, as shipped with Thinkpad laptops. [Bug 574057] [NEW] keyboard shortcuts not working as configured
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity I was setting up keyboard shortcuts for two actions -- "launch run application dialog" and "toggle fullscreen mode". The "launch run application dialog" is bound to M- by default, and, when bound to that default, this action works. The "toggle fullscreen mode" action isn't bound by default, so there's no way to test its default functionality. I changed the "launch run application dialog" to M-Esc, and it didn't start working either immediately, or after a re-login. I, also, changed the "toggle fullscreen mode" action to C-M-z, and it didn't start working either. I have desktop compositing enabled. When I disabled desktop compositing, everything broke in an instant -- metacity never started again, until after I deleted some files under .config, .cache and .gconf. I have to add that the non-workingness of "launch run application dialog" with compositing enabled is the same as in Karmic, whereas the "toggle fullscreen mode" issue is a regression -- it worked fine in Karmic. This happens on two different amd64 machines, one with r300 driver, another with a r600 one. [Bug 573395] [NEW] [STAGING] sounds only from subwoofer on MSI GT735 laptop
Public bug reported: The roverbook pro p735-vhb laptop is a rebranded MSI MS-1721, which is a MSI GT735. The DMI info identifies it as a GT735 (see info). The speaker configuration is 4.1 -- 2f/2b/1s The issue manifests itself as lack of use of the front/back speakers -- all sounds come out from subwoofer. No amount of "options snd-hda-intel model=" solves the issue -- no model I chose out of about 20, from those listed in kernel://Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt fitted. [Bug 491615] Re: Using arrow keys in vim-tiny while in Insert mode introduces A, B, C, D into text
I second Anatoly on this issue. I'd even suggest that 'vi' should default to the compatible mode as well. Rationale: extremely user-visible functionality should work by default. Favoring hjkl movement keys over arrows is, well, "so 1999". People expect better. -- Using arrow keys in vim-tiny while in Insert mode introduces A,B,C,D into text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491615 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 518979] [NEW] Shortcutting "Run application" dialog to Alt+ESC does not work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity The exact combination of setting the Alt+Esc shortcut to 'Show the panel's "Run Application" dialog box" action, using the Keyboard Shortcuts does not work, but also _only_ when desktop effects are enabled. Setting the action to any other shortcut works. Setting any other action to Alt+Esc works. Setting this action to this shortcut works when desktop effects are disabled. Metacity is 2.28.0-0ubuntu1 and everything else is whatever was latest at Feb 8 2010. Architecture is i386. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Shortcutting "Run application" dialog to Alt+ESC does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
