[Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview

2009-03-20 Thread Samuel Schluep
I open Gedit, enter "Hello world", select print through the menu "File >
Print". In the print dialog I select "Print to File" (output format
"pdf") and click the "Print" button. The attached screenshot shows the
result. The number after "Rendering page" is counting rapidly upwards.
After 10 seconds I stop the process clicking on "Cancel". No output has
been produced. I get the same behavior, if a printer is selected instead
of "Print to File".

[Bug 328071] Re: Gedit Print preview

2009-03-11 Thread Samuel Schluep
I have a similar problem on Ubuntu 8.10. I open Gedit, enter "Hello
world". The print preview should show the Text entered, but the field
where the white paper with the text should appear remains gray.

If I try to print (File > Print... > Print to File > Print) a yellow bar
appears above the editing area with the progress bar and the text
"Rendering page [number] of 1...". The number is counting upwards and
gets incredibly large. I then cancel the printing with the cancel button
in the yellow progress field.

[Bug 198134] Re: evince not respecting default printer

2009-01-17 Thread Samuel Schluep
I confirm this behavior on intrepid (Ubuntu 8.10). When I open the
print... dialog in Evince Document Viewer, another printer than the
default one is selected. I set the default printer using the Ubuntu menu
System > Preferences > Default Printer. The default printer is correctly
preselected in other applications such as Firefox, gedit, Thunderbird,
OpenOffice...

Neither ~/.cups/lpoptions nor /etc/cups/lpoptions seem to work on my
computer.

[Bug 263963] Re: [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware

2008-11-23 Thread Samuel Schluep
Playing with the settings of my wireless router, I found that no
connection can be established when the wireless network is hidden. In
open mode it takes a long time to get the network working. The attached
syslog documents a test sequence that is reproducible:

- During restart the wireless network is set to open mode; Network
Manager tries to connect (syslog time 12:42:46), fails (12:45:16) and
tries a second time with success (12:45:56).

- Then I switch the wireless network to hidden mode (12:49:59), Network
Manager looses the connection, but the connection is reestablished
shortly after.

- I then disable wireless with a right click on the Network Manager
applet (12:50:50) and enable it again (12:51:03). The network is found,
but Network Manager is not able to fully set up the connection and asks
for the password after a while. I cancel the password dialog (12:54:20).

The network uses WPA-PSK security, my computer has an Atheros AR5221
802.11abg wireless device and uses the ath_pci driver with Intrepid,
Linux 2.6.27-7 and the PPA Package (sorry for some wrong information
about the device in an earlier posting). Hidden mode wireless with WPA-
PSK was working with Hardy, hidden mode with no security or WEP is
working with Intrepid.

[Bug 263963] Re: [iwl*] intel drivers take overly long to associate to WPA for some hardware

2008-11-15 Thread Samuel Schluep
I installed the PPA test package, but the problem to connect with WPA-
PSK remains. I am using a Thinkpad T42 with an Intel 802.11a/b/g Mini
PCI wireless device (and Intrepid with Linux 2.6.27-7). The driver is
"Support for Atheros 802.11 wireless LAN cards" installed with linux-
restricted-modules-generic. The connection was working with Hardy.

This is also true for gutsy after a clean install of the "eclipse"
package (with "sudo apt-get install eclipse"). The message occurs (after
starting eclipse in the console) with the default VM /usr/lib/jvm/java-
gcj and with /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun (after modifying
/etc/eclipse/java_home).
