[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically
I suspect there are different bugs mixed here. If you are experiencing this problem and: - You are running 'nautilus'. - Maybe you use the 'awesome' window manager. - 'evtest' actually shows all mouse events. Then: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/awesome/+bug/884255 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41301 Title: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/41301/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 884255] Re: [HP G62] System is non-responsive to mouse/touchpad clicks
** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) => awesome (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: awesome (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Summary changed: - [HP G62] System is non-responsive to mouse/touchpad clicks + [awesome + nautilus] System is non-responsive to mouse/touchpad clicks ** Description changed: + UPDATE: This bug is triggered by the use of the awesome window manager + and nautilus. I have confirmed this in different hardware with similar + set up. + Sometimes, after an undefined amount of time using my HP G62 laptop, system ignores clicks either from mouse or touchpad. Mouse/touchpad movement still works, but not clicks. There's also another problem that appears that Thunderbird keeps opening repeatedly. I thought the "Mail" hotkey would be locked, but it's not the case, since evtest doesn't show up events for this key when it happens. I think both problems might be related. - I haven't had the chance to test yet: - evtest: Check if the click events are generated when this happens. - Check if the problem persists after disabling hotkeys. - --- + --- ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: oneiric DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Beta amd64 (20110921.2) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP G62 Notebook PC Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcEnviron: - PATH=(custom, no user) - LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic root=UUID=fedf2154-36ec-408f-bb55-744752f19c8e ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Tags: oneiric ubuntu Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: - + dmi.bios.date: 10/29/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.37 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 143A dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 60.3F dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.37:bd10/29/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPG62NotebookPC:pvr059411252710001020100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn143A:rvr60.3F:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: HP G62 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: 059411252710001020100 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu5 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.26-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu13 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20110811.g93fc084-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110411+8378443-1 - --- + --- ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-12-23 00:42:12.322819 DistroCodename: oneiric DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu MachineType: Packard Bell imedia S3710 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcEnviron: - PATH=(custom, user) - LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.0.0-16-generic root=UUID=4fe837bb-0475-4626-98a1-52d44be79567 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-16.28-generic 3.0.17 Tags: oneiric ubuntu Uname: Linux 3.0.0-16-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-12-23 (77 days ago) UserGroups: adm admin audio cdrom dialout fuse lpadmin netdev plugdev sambashare vboxusers video www-data dmi.bios.date: 05/26/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: AMI dmi.bios.version: P01-A2 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: imedia S3710 dmi.board.vendor: Packard Bell dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Packard Bell dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAMI:bvrP01-A2:bd05/26/2009:svnPackardBell:pnimediaS3710:pvr:rvnPackardBell:rnimediaS3710:rvr:cvnPackardBell:ct3:cvr: dmi.product.name: imedia S3710 dmi.sys.vendor: Packard Bell version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu6.1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu26 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.26-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-

[Bug 884255] Re: [HP G62] System is non-responsive to mouse/touchpad clicks
I have just experienced the same issue in a completely different computer with very similar set up. After seeing these posts: http://markmail.org/message/rm3pogzilxg7qakl http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1801465&page=2 The common factor seem to be the awesome window manager used in conjunction with Gnome. Someone suggested it's related to nautilus. And it seems to be true: when this happens, killing nautilus solves the problem. ** Description changed: Sometimes, after an undefined amount of time using my HP G62 laptop, system ignores clicks either from mouse or touchpad. Mouse/touchpad movement still works, but not clicks. There's also another problem that appears that Thunderbird keeps opening repeatedly. It worked for me because I have version F.37. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661768 Title: HP G62-a50SM keyboard fn and special keys To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/null/+bug/661768/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 661768] Re: HP G62-a50SM keyboard fn and special keys
This is not an issue in oneiric. I had this problem on natty but not on oneiric (both after upgrade or fresh install). Media player hotkey is still dead, but that's being dealt with in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/569562 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661768 Title: HP G62-a50SM keyboard fn and special keys To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/null/+bug/661768/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
