[Bug 1231173] [NEW] Presentation forms for vertical white lenticular brackets are transposed

2013-09-25 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

U+FE17 and U+FE18 are two vertical white lenticular brackets. According
to the code page, http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/UFE10.pdf, U+FE17
should be concave down and U+FE18 concave up. Unifont has these
transposed.

[Bug 1174212] [NEW] /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf is not a configuration file

2013-04-29 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

For some reason that makes no sense, the decision to turn off ptracing
is in this package.

For some reason that makes far less sense, it is an actual package file,
not a configuration file. As such, it is overwritten every time the
package updates.

This means that a system administrator is incapable of setting the value
of kernel.yama.ptrace_scope to 0 on a permanent basis without holding
back procps (by pinning the package) or

[Bug 1162682] [NEW] Chromium sound is scratchy

2013-04-01 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

chromium-browser version 25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu1b1 in the 13.04 Raring
beta.

All sound coming out of Chromium is scratchy. This is not a Flash or
plugin problem, as it occurs with media files (such as .mp3 files or
HTML5 videos) as well. Downloading media files and running externally to
Chromium works fine, as does Firefox (including in Flash with the same
plugin).

It is expected that the sound plays with no artifacts or scratchiness.

[Bug 938469] [NEW] vim cannot regain control of mouse

2012-02-21 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

In Precise, vim is unable to reassert control of the mouse once it has
started. The mouse works normally upon starting vim. If it loses control
of the mouse in the pseudo-terminal, however, perhaps due to being
suspended with ^Z, or turning the mouse off with ':set mouse=', then vim
becomes unable to regain control of the mouse when it should, such as
being resumed or ':set mouse=a'.

The expected behavior is that suspending should have no effect on the
mouse within vim, and clearing and resetting the mouse variable should
also have no effect on the mouse.

[Bug 184255] Re: zsnes fails to build on amd64

No., it should not. Installing zsnes:i386 requires i386 versions of
several libraries that are incompatible with amd64 programs. For
instance, one cannot have both zsnes:i386 and mpd:amd64 installed. I can
confirm that this bug is still significant in Oneiric.

[Bug 543098] [NEW] Cryptic error from GUI selection of 'other'

2010-03-20 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

Running Kubuntu Lucid Beta 1, if you run apport-bug or ubuntu-bug with
no options and click Other Problem twice, you receive the following
error message:

This is expected as there is no tty allocated when running commands
directly via ssh. Adding the -t flag will allocate a tty and prevent
sudo from echoing the password.

For more information, please see:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/FAQ#SSH

This makes very little sense in the context and is further complicated
by the fact that running it with -t gives an error message about -t not
being a recognized option.

Running apport-bug/ubuntu-bug with a package (as was done for this
report) works fine.

[Bug 502846] [NEW] no /usr/include/gtkmm directory makes compilation non-standard

2010-01-04 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

gtkmm headers are normally included from the directory 'gtkmm' (see
http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtkmm-tutorial/unstable/sec-connecting-
signal-handlers.html.en). This package installs '/usr/include/gtkmm-2.4'
only, meaning that extra hacking (e.g. a symlink) is required to use the
library as intended.

A similar, but lesser, complaint can be attributed to the lack of
libgtkmm.so

[Bug 461581] [NEW] Turbo, up, and left cannot all be simultaneously pressed.

2009-10-26 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: visualboyadvance

On my system, I cannot press the turbo (speed up) button at the same
time as the left and up directional buttons. These buttons are set to
0020, 0114, and 0111 respectively. I can press any other combination of
turbo + directions, but if two of these three buttons are pressed, the
third has no effect - if I'm in turbo, I can't move diagonally up and
left, and if I'm moving diagonally up and left, I can't activate turbo.

[Bug 424132] [NEW] KDE file dialog is utterly broken.

2009-09-03 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

OO.org successfully uses the KDE file dialog, however, it's very broken.
Some issues:

 - The default directory is one higher in the hierarchy than it should be (for
instance, it starts in /home. After you save, the next save defaults to one
directory above that)
 - Automatic file extensions don't work
 - Some buttons (like 'New folder') are missing
 - The checkboxes below the file picker widget have no text
 - The settings menu has no text.

[Bug 416589] [NEW] knetworkmanager applet will not try to connect

2009-08-20 Thread Sean Hunt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-network-manager

The knetworkmanager applet (not the widget) does not even attempt to
connect to a network. It successfully lists the networks and offers
choices, asks for key, etc., but it will not actually go so far as to
connect. NetworkManager simply records no attempt to connect whatsoever.
It seems the click to connect is failing; the menu doesn't disappear or
anything.
