[Bug 773564] Re: compiz occasionally hangs with 100% cpu usage (inotify plugin infinite loop)

As obviously nothing is happening here I submitted that bug to compiz
crew directly.

I'm running natty amd64 with gnome2 (ubuntu classic) shell.

After having a look at the source code of this specific plugin I
suspect that there is a bug in an iterator loop. I created a patch,
but haven't had time to test it so far. Maybe this helps.

[Bug 786599] [NEW] compcache / ramzswap unusable

2011-05-22 Thread ServerAlex
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

ramzswap is unusable with natty. the control tool rzscontrol is using ioctl to
control the kernel module, which doesn't even include support for ioctl (yet?).
nevertheless the tool is used by initramfs. all ramzswaps have a fixed size of
25 % of main memory and don't get initialized, which causes the udev rule not
being able to activate it for swap.
either fix the kernel module so it supports the ioctls, or change the way
ramzswap is used by initramfs

i can confirm that the hang issue completly disappeared after i created
and installed the patched compiz-plugins package! so it's finally
working now.

btw the bug exists in the recent git repos on freedesktop.org, too.

[Bug 758215] [NEW] mysql ocf agent in natty incompatible with mysql 5.5

2011-04-11 Thread ServerAlex
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cluster-agents

although mysql 5.5 isn't part of natty i'm using the precompiled binaries from
mysql.com. the ocf agent for mysql is not compatible with it as mysql 5.5
changed text format(s). i don't know if i always know all parts .. but at least
if grep 'Has read all relay log' $tmpfile /dev/null; then
is wrong as mysql 5.5 changed that string to Slave has read all relay log
(see /sql/log.cc in mysql source code).

[Bug 716539] Re: Allow a configuration in /etc/default/iscsitarget to enable listening to a specific address

2011-03-17 Thread ServerAlex
I'd prefer another option to just add user-defined commandline
arguments. e.g. it's not possible to activate logging for the ietd
without modifying the init.d file.

Could you please add something like CUSTOM_ARGS to the
/etc/default/iscsitarget file ??

[Bug 601688] Re: nfs4 issue running with udp

2010-07-05 Thread ServerAlex
** Description changed:

i'm not exactly sure if this is really a nfs related problem or a kernel
issue.
i'm running a nfs4 server with udp. mount settings are
rw,soft,proto=udp,port=2049. no rsize and wsize set (32010 is the default??).
my network is a default ethernet with MTU 1500. now when i do
- dd if=/dev/null of=/home/..
+ dd if=/dev/zero of=/home/..
where /home is on the remote nfs server, i get dd: writing to '/home/..':
Socket operation on non-socket as error message after some seconds and about
70mb transferred.
reducing the rsize and wsize to far smaller sizes (e.g. 8192) solves the
problem. so is it a nfs-related issue or a kernel-bug in the ip fragmentation
code or similar? the error is very well reproducible.

system is ubuntu 10.04 server, current patchlevel.

Re: [Bug 306233] [NEW] Segmentation fault in timelib_builtin_db()

2008-12-12 Thread ServerAlex
I'm not 100% sure, but I guess I tracked down this problem to the fact
that my apparmor rules blocked access to /usr/share/zoneinfo , which
wasn't a problem with the older php packet versions. Nevertheless the
new versions shouldn't segfault coz the access was denied.

Hope this helps.
