Using the slider works perfectly. it's not in my fstab i only mount it using nautilus and also tried smbclient. the server is set to allow everyone with no password. i can copy the folder with my same computer using gutsy. Using hardy I can copy the individual files inside the folder that i can't copy so i don't think it's the server settings.
