[Bug 195782] Re: Users not automatically added to "scanner" group: No scanning functions of HP multi-function in Hardy

2010-09-21 Thread Shobuz99
I have the "failed to start scanner: invalid argument" error
I have made several attempts to analyze the problem,
with very limited knowledge of debug options.
Below is some information on what I have done so far:

Xsane header: xsane 0.996 CC-570L:003
device 'epson2:libusb:002:003' is a Epson CC-570L flatbed scanner (this is also
a printer)

I have installed utils using: sudo apt-get install sane-utils
I have run 'groups' and 'scanner' is listed.
I have installed extras using: sudo apt-get install libsane-extras
I have run sudo xsane and ignored the warning, and proceeded;
the output included this message multiple times:
(xsane:5424): Gtk-WARNING **: GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with
non-zero page size is deprecated

I have run strace -o strace.out -f scanimage -T
The output is rather large and I can't determine any action to take from its
results.

I still have the error whether I open xsane using sudo or not.

can anyone help me with any further advice or things to try?

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 571511] [NEW] firefox 3.6.9 freezes when I run video, audio or flash.

2010-04-28 Thread Shobuz99
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I recently upgraded firefox to version 3.5.9. (I also run Thunderbird version
2.0.0.24)
I am getting freezes and sometimes crashes during video, audio, and flash (.swf)
I raised my cache to 200mb, but it doesn't help.
My drivers are all stable and I can find no errors in my logs that show this
issue.
I expected the video, audio and flash to run normally, as it did before I
upgraded to Firefox 3.5.9
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-21-generic

Please help. I want to STAY off of Windows for good! No Windows XP, Vista or 7
for me.
Thank you.

Re: [Bug 422536] Re: EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. Module will NOT be loaded.

2009-11-01 Thread Shobuz99
In my case the problem began immediately after i upgraded to 9.10 from 9.04
I get an 'crash error' and it says kernel failure, or something..
I too, cannot get the fix from Update manager...

got any ideas?

I see the fix is released but update manager didn't find it. How to get
it?

In my case the problem occurred just after restart. When the gnome
loaded it said the little thing showing if I'm online, offline, letting
me restart, shutdown my gear, etc. couldn't run and asked if I want to
remove it from my panel.
