[Bug 1905591] Re: no brightness control in {455, 460} after update from 450

2021-09-10 Thread Shubham Paul
Now, it works for me (ubuntu 20.04.3) with the kernel (v5.11.0.34.36)
parameter

nvidia.NVreg_RegistryDwords=EnableBrightnessControl=1

And nvidia drivers 460.91.03. No need to do anything else.

The parameter is mentioned in arch wiki

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#Enabling_brightness_control

This is all for discrete mode. Credits to @Chaplan from legion discord
for finding this.

For hybrid mode, there is different kernel parameter (for AMD)

amdgpu.backlight=0

[Bug 1872268] Re: Gnome Shell completely freezes in Ubuntu 20.04 when clicking outside of app icon folders (when ubuntu-dock is loaded)

2021-07-27 Thread Shubham Deshmukh
This bug still exists, on a fully updated Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with
Wayland. Having faced at least 7-8 times in the last 2 months, it gets
very easily triggered while clicking around the UI. Over here screen
resolution is also 1366x768.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open drawer menu (9 dots)
2. Open any group folder
3. Click anywhere outside the folder OR click _esc_ in succession

Freezes the entire UI, keyboard and mouse. No response after 6 minutes.
Sleep button too doesn't work, required force shut down.

[Bug 1905591] Re: no brightness control in {455, 460} after update from 450

2021-04-14 Thread Shubham Paul
To add more info on what I tried, I have put it here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1329928/legion-5-pro-brightness-control-
doesnt-work-on-ubuntu-20-04-with-nvidia-driver . Surprisingly the
brightness also works on Manjaro (as mentioned in my post) after adding
'Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"' to x.conf.d. Also,
it also works on Regolith Linux 1.5.3.

[Bug 1905591] Re: no brightness control in {455, 460} after update from 450

2021-03-26 Thread Shubham Paul
Same problem with Legion 5 pro, 5800H+3070. Tried config

https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/comments/ls9k5r/legion_5_pro_other_info_64gb_ram_upgrade_linux/

This guy claims that after 'upgrading to Kernel 5.10', 'Blacklisting
noveau drivers', 'changing the .conf file' and 'adding modules in
initramfs', brightness control works. https://www.notion.so/Legion-5
-Pro-Regolith-Important-Steps-2c468d1b33cc481dbd92d5ea59a6b74b

Will try this later. So far I have tried changing .conf and adding
modules in initramfs and it didn't work.

Thank you for your bug report. The setting has a description 'the dock hides
when any windows overlap with it', which you didn't try to do in the video you
recorded ... Could you make a new screencast showing what happens when you move
something over the dock?
Could you also add your 'journalctl -b 0' log after triggering the issue?

No i didn't enrolled a MOK key in the system.Infact I want not prompted
with any blue screen .I was a good and smooth install as it usually
is.But this error didn't occur the first time i boot up.But then second
time onwards it started to appear.

shim unable to write to an nvram variable at runtime?  That looks like a
problem with the firmware's UEFI implementation.

I believe we also should only be setting MokListRT, if MokList is also
set.  Were you prompted to enroll a MOK key on this system (unfriendly
blue screen), and did you do so?

The most likely cause for Ubuntu to prompt to you to enroll MOK is if
you have nvidia driver packages installed; but your bug report shows
that you are using nouveau drivers and there is no nvidia kernel module
loaded.  Did you previously try to install the nvidia binary drivers?

2019-04-08 Thread Shubham Dubey
Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your help.
Unfortunately, the problem still exists. Still getting the error for
low-graphics during boot.
I have to select the option “continue with low-graphics” to further start the
system.

Please let me know what can i do to resolve this.
Thanks again.

Best

[Bug 1823639] [NEW] Facing problem with Xorg recently.

2019-04-08 Thread Shubham Dubey
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Recently I have been facing problem with computer graphics.
Sometimes while working, the system freezes and when the system resumes working
a pop-up window appears stating that "An error occurred", and in the details of
the error there is problem with Xorg.

Today, after powering on the system, a message appeared saying:-
"The system is running in low-graphics mode. You screen, graphics card, and
input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to
configure these yourself".
Using a solution from askubuntu forum, I did the following:-

1) Pressed Ctrl + Alt + F1
2) Logged in with my credentials
3) Ran the following commands:
$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop
$ sudo reboot

This helped me open the system.

Now, I checked whether the graphics driver is installed or not. So, I went to
Settings > Software & Updates > Additional drivers.
But, no driver is detected.

So, I guess that there no graphics driver installed on my system.

After that, I tried the following solution, but the terminal says that
requirement already satisfied:-

https://askubuntu.com/a/183170

Please help me resolve the issue.

Re: [Bug 1767703] Re: Calling 'apt-install grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed

2018-05-01 Thread shubham
I formatted my laptop... I couldnt install grub..hence i freshly installed
windows and then ubuntu as a dual boot..this time i didn't find error.

Before formatting:

i was unable to instal grub..i tried boot repair..even it was able to
rectify during the repair process..but while installing ubuntu it asked for
grub...and i failed...so only option was to delete all partition and
freshly install windows and hence ubuntu

installed on my system, keeping apps and documents and settings as it
is, that means, not erasing the previously installed Operating System.

I think part of the problem was my BIOS settings which had boot type set
to UEFI instead of Legacy, I later changed it to Legacy and it
successfully installed xUbuntu 16.04 in the second attempt.

Although I did not lose any documents and settings but because of the
unsuccessful first attempt I lost my apps, which I had to reinstall
after my system got ready :o(

If BIOS settings is the problem then installation should halt at the
very beginning and compel the user to correct it, instead of going ahead
with it and exit with an error leaving an unclean installation and loss
of user apps.

[Bug 1240336] Re: After release upgrade, the user looses permissions for several basic actions in the system

2017-05-02 Thread Shubham Lakshetti
Actually, it works for installing packages from software center (auth dialog
appears), still fails silently sometimes (for example when I try to remove
software source PPA).

I also created a new admin user, by running sudo gnome-control-center ->
Users & Groups.
For that user everything works fine.

This appears to be a recurring bug which has been reported on Launchpad
back in 2013. Every version of ubuntu since is affected by this but not
everyone sees the error. On the moment I write this (march 2015) there's
no permanent solution, however there are workarounds to solve the
problem.

For Ubuntu 14.10 the problem appears to be related to the package
ulatencyd. Removing this package causes the error to disappear in my
situation. If I recall correctly I've installed this package manually on
a certain moment in time so it does not belong to a standard install and
therefore this might not affect everyone.

with these release of Ubuntu version only

from the internet (like:
http://design.ubuntu.com/wp-content/uploads/ubuntu-logo32.png)
