[Bug 1939449] Re: Ubuntu Pro UA fails to enable fips-updates on 20.04
Searching AWS marketplace I see that for Ubuntu 18, there are: - Ubuntu Pro FIPS 18.04 LTS (offered by Canonical Group Ltd) - Ubuntu Pro 18.04 LTS (offered by Amazon Web Services) But for Ubuntu 20.04, a "Pro FIPS" variety does not exist, only Ubuntu Pro 20.04 LTS. This is confusing from a user perspective. - Why are there two separate AMIs if Ubuntu Pro is supposed to include the fips modules enabled through UA in the first place? - Why can `fips` or `fips-updates` not be enabled using the Ubuntu Pro 20.04 LTS image? - Why is an Ubuntu Pro FIPS 20.04 LTS missing entirely? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939449 Title: Ubuntu Pro UA fails to enable fips-updates on 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/1939449/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1763976] [NEW] Gnome input devices hang
Public bug reported: I've noticed that occasionally my input devices (kb/mouse) will stop functioning. [Bug 1763774] [NEW] nvidia-driver-390 GDM black screen / hang after login
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 18.04 x64 / gdm AMD 1800x Aorus Gaming K7 (x370 chipset) motherboard NVidia GTX 1080Ti w/ DisplayPort attached 4k monitor USB keyboard / mouse I've recently upgraded from Ubuntu 17.10 x64 to 18.04 x64 via `do-release-upgrade -d` and uninstalled / purged / reinstalled my NVidia native drivers using the `ubuntu-drivers autoinstall` approach. I am able to boot the system and it displays the X login shell at native resolution with a functioning keyboard and mouse, but I cannot ctrl+alt+F{1,2,3,4,...} to a non-graphical terminal. When I click "Sign in" using gnome 3, gnome classic, or Unity, I get a black screen and my input devices hang (keyboard caps lock key no longer functions.) If I unplug and replug my input devices, they remain hanging, with a stuck-on capslock indicator. The mouse is also illuminated. I am able to SSH into the machine, and it is still usable. systemctl status gdm.service indicates that gdm is "running" and does not show an error, but it shows that the login session opened and closed very quickly. I rebooted and SSH'd into the machine before the hang, halted GDM via `systemctl stop gdm.service` and was able to ctrl+alt+F1 into another shell on the attached keyboard. I then executed `systemctl restart gdm.service` and got the expected X login shell. I was then able to log into the desktop environment normally. My Xorg.0.log is here for the successful login: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/SNqJPxV938/ I'll reproduce the behavior and attach an xorg log for the unexpected behavior. [Bug 1674089] [NEW] Tamil 99 keyboard layout
Public bug reported: Tamil 99 keyboard layout which is the default keyboard layout prescribed by the Indian State of Tamil Nadu is not present. Selecting Tamil layout selects the Tamil Inscript layout which is prescribed by the Government of India. However, considering that Tamil is used only in the state of Tamil Nadu and that most keyboards are manufactured with Tamil 99, the layout by the Tamil Nadu government is the only one sold currently (usually by a company called TVS-e). [Bug 1297326] Re: gutenprint52+usb crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
There is an upstream fix for the crash; it will be in the next gutenprint release. Alternatively you can get the patch here if you don't want to wait for upstream to spit out a new release: http://gimp-print.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gimp- print/print/src/cups/backend_common.c?r1=1.31&r2=1.32&view=patch Second, the permissions for the 'gutenprint52+usb' backend are incorrect, and I believe this is the fault of the Ubuntu package itself. They currently are 0755... -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 90788 Mar 18 18:36 gutenprint52+usb But should be 0700. This is what the upstream gutenprint package installs: -rwx-- 1 root root 102005 Mar 27 14:28 gutenprint52+usb I am not able to make changes to the Ubuntu package, so this will have to suffice. Still, the root cause is that libusb is basically broken on your system, but at least the crash won't occur any more. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297326 Title: gutenprint52+usb crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gutenprint/+bug/1297326/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1297326] Re: gutenprint52+usb crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
The gutenprint backend crash is due to not catching the failure of libusb_init(). Why libusb_init is failing is another matter entirely... [Bug 1297326] Re: gutenprint52+usb crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
Can you run those commands as root? The fact that 'lsusb' is failing shows taht something more serious than a failing backend is going wrong. [Bug 1297326] Re: gutenprint52+usb crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___pthread_mutex_lock()
In particular, I suspect that VMWare's "Printer feaure" is responsible, but I have no idea how it's exposed within the VM. The gutenprint backend uses similar enumeration logic as the CUPS USB backend, so I'm particularly interested if the latter works when the former does not.
At first glance it appears that the crash is in the bowels of libusb's enumeration code and has nothing to do with the backend itself. Please log into the non-graphical console, and run three things for me on the command line: lsusb /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb /usr/lib/cups/backend/gutenprint52+usb -D Where this goes next depends on the output of those commands.

[Bug 987840] Re: [HP-Pavilion-g6] hangs during suspend
I tried the suggestions that worked for the original poster (psivaa) and they didn't work for me. So I think I have a different bug. Still hangs in suspend or hibernate. The screen goes black, but then there's high fan speed and no way to get out except manual power down. I don't know if I should file a new bug report or how to do that yet. details of workarounds I tried: 1. editing etc/default/grub (a) "quiet splash xforcevesa" (suggested elsewhere for generic video cards) => same hang (b) "quiet splash no_console_suspend" then $ sudo pm-suspend => same hang, difference noticed on startup: a blinking cursor at 800x600 mode home position just after OS selection instead of black screen during that part of startup (c) "acpi=off radeon.modeset=0" => same hang on hibernate, "suspend" removed from logout menu 2. commands suggested in #14 (and etc/default/grub back to original "quiet splash") $ echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/power/pm_async $ sudo pm-suspend => similar hang, except fan stayed off instead of going to higher speed as it did during other hangs -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987840 Title: [HP-Pavilion-g6] hangs during suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/987840/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 986602] [NEW] Universal Access - Big Mouse Pointers
Public bug reported: Testing out Precise Build 20120421 i386 ISO with High Contrast enabled. It worked ok during installation, but after rebooting and before logging in, I disabled High Contrast. Now I have this big mouse pointer while surfing in Firefox. The pointer is normal on application windows, but not on web pages where its magnified. I made sure that Universal Access options are set to default but I still have it. [Bug 966248] Re: USB3.0 Ports Not Working
I'm not sure if my testing will help you because we have two completely different chipsets. However I have noticed that after the computer goes to sleep for a while, the usb3.0 ports stop working when the computer resumes. I also noticed that my wireless mouse (Logitech Performance MX) does not work in the usb3.0 ports even though the receiver is detected (using lsusb). J B, I don't have any media on me right now so I will test later today and get back to you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/966248 Title: USB3.0 Ports Not Working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/966248/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 966248] [NEW] USB3.0 Ports Not Working
Public bug reported: The computer has 4 usb ports. 3 of them are usb3 and one is a usb/esata. The three usb3.0 ports used to work in 11.10. Now only the usb/esata port works properly. [Bug 921123] Re: ath5k Atheros AR5007G/AR2417 Chip Connected to Router but No Internet
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I bought a TP-Link WN 350GD PCI Wifi Card with an Atheros chip. It worked well on Natty and Oneiric, until a few weeks ago (probably after a kernel upgrade) when it started acting funky. It's connected to the router alright, but the internet's either disconnected, or very very slow - slower than dialup. Signal strength's good at 77%, authenticated via WPA2-Personal. I'm using both LAN and Wireless connections (LAN's routing is enabled) since LAN connection's for the internal network, while the wireless connection's for the Internet. I can usually scan and ping other devices/workstations connected wirelessly but not anymore. Every now and then, the wifi card would allow me to connect to a website at 15K- 20Kbps, but it'll disconnect soon after. Syslog shows that the card keeps on re-authenticating to the network. Something that does not happen on my TP-Link USB Wifi with Ralink chipset - and they're averaging at 65%-75% signal strength. I've already tried booting to v2.6.39, v3.0.0-15, and v3.2.1 (which I got from kernel.ubuntu.com for precise pangolin) kernels with no success. I've even tried compiling compat-wireless by following the instructions on http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download#Directly_downloading_the_tarball I've also commented out ath_pci from /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ath_pci.conf all with the same result. I haven't tried using wicd as suggested in the forum since it doesn't support simultaneous connections So is this an ath5k bug? or did my pci wifi card went south. I can't replace it at the moment since this is a company workstation and might take a while to get a replacement card. By the way, the workstation I'm using is a dev workstation and a web/database/ntpd server for our prototypes which means it's on 24/7. [Bug 362875] Re: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset
btw, here's the additional details: 1) I plug the USB Wifi (TP-Link TL-WN321G) and wait for it to disconnect. The nm-applet will still say it's connected so I'm using the Dropbox applet as an indicator. Syslog would then spit out the rt2x00usb_vendor_request error. It just happens without triggering it. Sometimes I'm doing something, sometimes I'm not, either way I'll have this error. Also, it's not time dependent, sometimes it'll go on for 5hours or more, sometimes for 5 mins. 2) I'm on Ubuntu Oneiric with 3.0.0-15 kernel. [Bug 887799] Re: Calibre Segmentation Fault
found a thread on uf.o http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11395883 but the workaround seems to reinstall Calibre using: sudo python -c "import urllib2; exec urllib2.urlopen('http://status.calibre-ebook.com/linux_installer').read(); main()" not an ideal solution I'm afraid... and no, I won't do it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887799 Title: Calibre Segmentation Fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calibre/+bug/887799/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
