[Bug 1950282] Re: Fibocom WWAN FM350-GL-00 (Mediatek M80 5G) support

2022-04-27 Thread Stéphane Verdy
Latest FM350 is FR 1.26.13 (equivalent to
81600..00.29.19.16_5000..036.000.036_C40). Intel clarified that
we should get that firmware from Fibocom and use that for testing.

[Bug 1965901] Re: SRU the new 1.18 serie to focal for hwe

2022-04-08 Thread Stéphane Verdy
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

We want to update to the newer serie for better hardware support
+ (support for Quectel EM120R-GL and EM160R-GL)

  [Test Plan]

- * install modemmanager, libmbim, and libqmi from -proposed
- * reboot and try WWAN function to see if any regression there.
- * perform general dogfooding of its reverse dependencies (network-
-manager, gnome-control-center etc.)
+  * install modemmanager, libmbim, and libqmi from -proposed
+  * reboot and try WWAN function to see if any regression there.
+  * perform general dogfooding of its reverse dependencies (network-
+    manager, gnome-control-center etc.)

  [Where problems could occur]

The new version no longer automatically performs the FCC unlock
procedure by default, see details on
  https://modemmanager.org/docs/modemmanager/fcc-unlock/

It means some modem will stop working out of the box.
-
-
+ Users can manually install the unlock utility as described in the "FCC unlock
procedures in ModemManager >= 1.18.4" section in the page above.

Note that these settings are additive: for instance, if Display Sleep
Mode timeout is 5 mins and Sleep/Alternative Low Power Mode is set to 20
mins, the machine will actually suspend after 20 + 5 = 25 mins.

[Bug 1382291] Re: Account creation during first boot of an OEM image needs to scale based on resolution

2014-11-05 Thread Stéphane Verdy
Some feedback from bregma:
"I imagine it's just a matter of writing a script to query the X server
(xrandr) and calculating some reasonable scaling factor based on the pixel
density, then setting the gsettings value
maybe a half-days work for someone who knows Python
StephaneVerdy, that bug has some good info on how to write the script
(and a link to an example), although in Unity we use a more fine-grained
scaling control and allow different scaling on different monitors (probably not
an issue for OEM setup)
the best bet is to use the GTK devioce info because they work around
some broken EDIDs better than X does

[Bug 1262728] [NEW] Can't pinch and zoom with touchscreen in eog

2013-12-19 Thread Stéphane Verdy
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 (updated on dec 19th 2013) on a laptop with
multitouch (Dell Inspiron 11 3000). Using eog (v3.8.2) I can zoom in and out of
a picture using 2 fingers pinching on the trackpad, but the same gesture on the
touchscreen has no effect.
One finger gestures (moving the picture, double clicking to enter fullscreen
mode, dragging the top menu in fullscren mode) work OK.
I filed this bug against geis as per Stephen Webb's advice.

[Bug 879237] Re: Unity does not allow citrix receiver remote desktop to open full screen

2013-08-01 Thread Stéphane Verdy
Vipul, you can download Citrix Receiver for Linux v13 public beta at
http://www.citrix.com/downloads/citrix-receiver/betas-and-tech-previews.html
You will need to test it on a 32 bit system for now as there is a multiarch
issue (whereby libwekitgtk:i386 depends on a non-installable
libwebkitgtk-common package) that impacts 64 bit systems.

Let's recompile without the multimedia redirection for now. It's not an
important feature. Anyway, rdesktop didn't have it, so we are not worse off.
I will talk to the project leader later today when he is up and ask him
to add a feature request for modifying the multimedia redirection to use
gstreamer.
