[Bug 204922] [NEW] Kernel Oops when plugging in Archos USB device

2008-03-21 Thread Stef Walter
Public bug reported:

On Hardy when plugging in my Archos Jukebox 6000 USB device the kernel
does an oops and the device. It previously showed up as a drive on my
desktop. The Archos Jukebox uses the ISD 200 chipset for its USB
functionality.

BTW, connecting via the command line works, using the following
instructions:

The command being executed by network-manager-pptp is as follows:

/usr/sbin/pppd pty /usr/sbin/pptp 10.10.10.10 --nolaunchpppd --logstring
nm-pptp-service-18851 ipparam nm-pptp-service-18851 nodetach lock

[Bug 259168] Re: Network Manager unable to connect to PPTP VPN

2008-09-29 Thread Stef Walter
After looking at the source code, I got this to work by adding a gconf
setting. This setting cannot be properly set from the new network-
manager-pptp UI.

I added a string type gconf key called 'refuse-eap' under the gconf path
of /system/networking/connections/1/vpn and set it to 'yes'

/system/networking/connections/1/vpn/refuse-eap = "yes"

Obviously the '1' number there may be different for different users.

2008-09-22 Thread Stef Walter
The stack trace doesn't seem to match my problem description of crashing
in the background. It may have been that apport just took a while to
show up, and that gave the illusion of the application crashing in the
background.

2008-09-22 Thread Stef Walter
The stack trace doesn't seem to match my problem description of crashing
in the background. It may have been that apport just took a while to
show up, and that gave the illusion of the application crashing in the
background.

BTW, connecting via the command line works, using the following
instructions:

The command being executed by network-manager-pptp is as follows:

/usr/sbin/pppd pty /usr/sbin/pptp 10.10.10.10 --nolaunchpppd --logstring
nm-pptp-service-18851 ipparam nm-pptp-service-18851 nodetach lock

[Bug 259168] Re: Network Manager unable to connect to PPTP VPN

2008-09-29 Thread Stef Walter
After looking at the source code, I got this to work by adding a gconf
setting. This setting cannot be properly set from the new network-
manager-pptp UI.

I added a string type gconf key called 'refuse-eap' under the gconf path
of /system/networking/connections/1/vpn and set it to 'yes'

/system/networking/connections/1/vpn/refuse-eap = "yes"

Obviously the '1' number there may be different for different users.

BTW, connecting via the command line works, using the following
instructions:

http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-configure-ubuntu-fedora-linux-pptp-
client.html

The command being executed by network-manager-pptp is as follows:

/usr/sbin/pppd pty /usr/sbin/pptp 10.10.10.10 --nolaunchpppd --logstring
nm-pptp-service-18851 ipparam nm-pptp-service-18851 nodetach lock

[Bug 259168] Re: Network Manager unable to connect to PPTP VPN

2008-09-29 Thread Stef Walter
After looking at the source code, I got this to work by adding a gconf
setting. This setting cannot be properly set from the new network-
manager-pptp UI.

I added a string type gconf key called 'refuse-eap' under the gconf path
of /system/networking/connections/1/vpn and set it to 'yes'

/system/networking/connections/1/vpn/refuse-eap = "yes"

Obviously the '1' number there may be different for different users.

The stack trace doesn't seem to match my problem description of crashing
in the background. It may have been that apport just took a while to
show up, and that gave the illusion of the application crashing in the
background.

[Bug 259168] Re: Network Manager unable to connect to PPTP VPN

2008-09-29 Thread Stef Walter
BTW, connecting via the command line works, using the following
instructions:

http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-configure-ubuntu-fedora-linux-pptp-
client.html

The command being executed by network-manager-pptp is as follows:

/usr/sbin/pppd pty /usr/sbin/pptp 10.10.10.10 --nolaunchpppd --logstring
nm-pptp-service-18851 ipparam nm-pptp-service-18851 nodetach lock
usepeerdns noipdefault require-mppe require-mppe-128 plugin
/usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pptp-pppd-plugin.so

[Bug 259168] Re: Network Manager unable to connect to PPTP VPN

2008-09-29 Thread Stef Walter
After looking at the source code, I got this to work by adding a gconf
setting. This setting cannot be properly set from the new network-
manager-pptp UI.

I added a string type gconf key called 'refuse-eap' under the gconf path
of /system/networking/connections/1/vpn and set it to 'yes'

/system/networking/connections/1/vpn/refuse-eap = "yes"

Obviously the '1' number there may be different for different users.

[Bug 273346] Re: vboxgtk crashed with AttributeError in on_toolbutton_managevdis_clicked()

2008-09-22 Thread Stef Walter
The stack trace doesn't seem to match my problem description of crashing
in the background. It may have been that apport just took a while to
show up, and that gave the illusion of the application crashing in the
background.

[Bug 67226] Re: Font is too blurry in firefox interface and pages rendering

2009-08-29 Thread Stef Walter
This is a real bug. I just upgraded to karmic. Previously in jaunty all
the fonts were sharp. Now after upgrading. The chrome (ie: the menu bar,
tool bar) fonts in firefox is blurry. This is clearly visible from the
screenshot attached by Keidson.

It's as if firefox is not respecting the subpixel rendering preferences
of the Desktop.

[Bug 421218] [NEW] No sound card available to programs running under wine.

2009-08-29 Thread Stef Walter
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to karmic, audio no longer works in programs running
under wine. Audio works perfectly in other applications, and used to run
for wine applications under jaunty.

I've had several windows programs running under wine programs say: "No
soundcard detected"

To duplicate, I can go into the 'winecfg' application, and click on the
Audio tab. No matter what set of drivers I select, when "Test Sound" is
clicked, I get this message: "Audio test failed!"

The following is output when winecfg is run:

ALSA lib ../../src/conf.c:2700:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared
library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib ../../../src/control/control.c:902:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL
