[Bug 1255165] Re: CoreDump should never be sent

2013-12-04 Thread Stefan Handschuh
From my point of view, daisy.ubuntu.com is a black box. And I would like
to be warned before sending private data to such a black box instead of
being encouraged. The only way (I am aware of) to avoid the exposure of
private data is to not create/collect it.

What Gary says is also important. Especially upload bandwidth seems to
be limited resource. Whoopsie could be patched to ignore CORE
requests from daisy, which should be the default. If one wants to send
the core dumps so badly, a solution might be to have an opt-in selection
(with an appropriate warning).

[Bug 1218248] Re: DoS: memory corruption while processing GIF comments.

2013-09-18 Thread Stefan Handschuh
Thanks for the clarification! So comment #2 is not correct, I guess or I
misinterpreted it.

So imagemagick is not part of the Server LTS, which seems to me a bit
odd (independently of whether the lucid imagemagick package is affected
by this bug or not).

[Bug 873003] [NEW] waf binary in sourcecode

2011-10-12 Thread Stefan Handschuh
Public bug reported:

AFAIK, the waf binary is included in the source package of postler and
it is also used to build the source package.

In my opinion, source packages should not include binaries (with the
exception of restricted packages). I am aware that these are platform
independent python binaries. For java source packages for example, it
is not IMHO not allowed to include java-bytecode in source packages and
I think the same holds for python source packages.

Pleases also note that waf is removed from the ubuntu repository from
lucid on. See #529154 for details.

Anyway - its just a suggestion.

[Bug 190673] Re: [needs-packaging] jAOLT

2011-08-24 Thread Stefan Handschuh
To be honest, it might be bad to directly include the program into the
repository because there are times when the program has to be updated
frequently such that it would lead to a bug report that an ubuntu
developer has to take care of for each new release.

The releases ppa and the nightly builds ppa are a better place, I think.

So please close this bug with won't fix.

[Bug 397195] [NEW] No cursor beyond 2048 rendered

Public bug reported:

The mouse-cursor is rendered modulo 2048 so the usage of screens with
