[Bug 235365] [NEW] Black screen after log in
Public bug reported: After installing nVIDIA driver I turned on Visual Effects, but I didn't have window borders. I've fixed that by installing xserver-xgl. However, there's another problem now. After log in, I have black screen for like 10 seconds or so. I use Ubuntu 8.04. -- ASUS P4B266 Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz GeForce MX440 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Black screen after log in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 215432] [NEW] Ubuntu 8.04 beta CD doesn't boot on x86 machine
Public bug reported: I've downloaded the latest beta release and it just won't boot the CD. In BIOS everything was set properly. It looks like it's not even trying to boot, I don't get any messages or anything. When I restart the computer with the CD in the drive, it just proceeds to boot Windows XP. Luckily, I have Windows, so I added a temporary Live session in the boot loader over Wubi, and then I could boot up the system from CD. But, what if I didn't have Windows? [Bug 215432] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 beta CD doesn't boot on x86 machine
Yes, I can her the CD spinning. No, there is no any delay during the boot when the CD is not in the drive (I have only Windows XP installed right now). No, I don't see any boot up messages, except that I hear a CD spinning and after that Windows XP starts with its regular boot. -- Ubuntu 8.04 beta CD doesn't boot on x86 machine https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, now it shows the proper refresh rate when I go to System- Preferences- Screen Resolution. [Bug 108693] Eject
Public bug reported: In previous versions of Ubuntu, when I would insert CD, DVD or USB Flash Drive, an icon of that drive would appear on desktop. When my work is done, right click on that icon- Eject. Now, under Feisty, there is no that icon on desktop anymore, and it's really getting on my nerves to type in Terminal every time when I have to eject a medium (CD, DVD, USB Flsh Drive...)! ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Eject https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108693 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108693] Re: Eject
Yes, I'm talking about Gnome. I took a look at /apps/nautilus/desktop/volumes_visible and it was already checked. Since I installed Feisty, I could only see sda volume icon on desktop, but not scd, and my scd volume is automounted when I insert a medium. -- Eject https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108693 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 108775] Problems with screen resolution after installing proprietary nVIDIA drivers
Public bug reported: Before I installed proprietary nVIDIA drivers, when I went to System- Preferences- Screen Resolution, I had a resolution at 1024x768 on 85Hz. Just like it's supposed to be. After installing proprietary nVIDIA drivers, my resolution was still at 1024x768, but on 50Hz. I switched that on 85Hz in nvidia-settings and when I went to System- Preferences- Screen Resolution to check it out, it was on 100Hz. Every time I make changes in nvidia-settings, I save them (/etc/X11/xorg.conf), and every time I restart X, it's always back on 50Hz at 1024x768 resolution.
