[Bug 1307559] Re: Window decorations not drawn on external monitor

2015-03-18 Thread Stefan Skotte
Actually I just installed the Numix Gtk theme - and now it works. Even
with 1.5 vs 1.0 pixel scaling between the monitors.

Appears to be a scaling issue with the images used for
close/maximize/minimize in the default ubuntu theme.

For now I just removed libreoffice-gtk to get the old menus back.

Something is definitely not really catching events/and or attaching
functionality, because I can sometimes get the menus but nothing works

[Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)

2012-08-11 Thread Stefan Skotte
I have an Asus UX32VD with nvidia/intel hd4000 graphics, and I have
tried several kernels from 3.5.x -> 3.6-rc1 (both on Ubuntu 12.04 and
12.10), and everytime I get a black wallpaper after I open the lid after
suspend to ram.

Just setting the wallpaper manually again will make it appear as usual,
and no errors following that.

Is this some compiz redraw missing on the "wallpaper" section of the
desktop ? - reason is that using a "Unity 2d" session I cannot replicate
the problem (use case: close lid -> suspend to ram (wait a few minutes)
-> open lid -> resumes).

I dont see any errors/warning in the logs (syslog, lightdm, Xorg.0.log
etc.) .

[Bug 1034090] Re: Hotkeys not functional after upgrade to quantal

2012-08-08 Thread Stefan Skotte
I have attached a patch that fixes the problem.

Turns out that XI was updated to 2.2 some time ago:

sfs@sfs-laptop:~$ xinput -version
xinput version 1.5.99.1
XI version on server: 2.2

I have tested it, and it works like it should - keyboard backlight and
volume up/down/mute all works again.

(I'm on an Asus UX32VD that provides keycodes through asus-wmi module)

[Bug 1034090] Re: Hotkeys not functional after upgrade to quantal

2012-08-08 Thread Stefan Skotte
It appears that the function 'supports_xinput2_devices' in rico's ppa
checks for Xinput version 2.0 and 2.2.

(in ./plugins/common/gsd-input-helper.c)

The current quantal packages only enables Xinput2 support if it matches
2.0...

I will try to rebuild the current 3.4.2 with the patch from 3.5.5 and
see if it works.

[Bug 1034090] Re: Hotkeys not functional after upgrade to quantal

2012-08-07 Thread Stefan Skotte
I think it might be the '90_set_gmenus_xsettings.patch' that is causing
the problems.

For now there's some dependency problems when trying to rebuild gnome-
settings-daemon, so I cant verify :(

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libxklavier-dev : Depends: libxklavier16 (= 5.2.1-1ubuntu1) but
5.2.1-1ubuntu1.3 is to be installed
   Depends: gir1.2-xkl-1.0 (= 5.2.1-1ubuntu1) but
5.2.1-1ubuntu1.3 is to be installed
E: Build-dependencies for gnome-settings-daemon could not be satisfied.

it does however introduce some other problems, like the keyboard layout

[Bug 1027380] [NEW] Resume From Suspend Unresponsive with Quantal 3.5.0-5 kernel on Quantal

2012-07-21 Thread Stefan Skotte
Public bug reported:

After updating from Quantal kernel 3.5.0-4 -> 3.5.0-5 I cannot resume
the machine after suspend to ram anymore.

It worked great in 3.5.0-4, so there must be a regression / change
somewhere.

This happens if I leave the computer for more than 10-15 minutes in
suspend (ie. just suspending, and waking it up immediately works fine).

Its too late anyway for inclusion into main due to feature freeze/beta.

Maybe we will include it in the next kubuntu.

[Bug 148706] Re: kdmtheme module can not apply changes

2007-10-22 Thread Stefan Skotte
I just installed the final version of kubuntu 7.10, and followed the
instructions provided in the first post:

1.) Install kdmtheme and kde-kdm-themes
2.) Startup System Settings.
3.) Appearance > KDM Theme Manager
4.) Click the Administrator Mode... button. And enter admin mode.
5.) Check Enable KDM Themes. <--- this button is enabled default by kdmtheme
code! *
6.) Select a theme. <--- the list is active and allow selections
7.) Can not click the Apply button. <--- as needed the apply button is
triggered when you select other than the currently active theme.

kdmtheme in kubuntu uses /etc/kdm.d/20-* as default settings, and 30-*
as customized.

This is the permissions on the files in my default install:

/etc/default/:

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2007-10-22 11:38 kdm.d

/etc/default/kdm.d/:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 159 2007-10-12 17:06 20_kubuntu_default_settings
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 171 2007-10-22 11:38 30_kubuntu_default_settings

20_kubuntu_default_settings:

USETHEME="true"
THEME="/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/kubuntu"
USEBACKGROUND="true"
WALLPAPER="/usr/share/wallpapers/kubuntu-wallpaper.png"
USESYSTEMLOCALE="true"

30_kubuntu_default_settings (is there since I've selected to use the kubuntu
theme without the userlist):
THEME="/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/kubuntu-no-userlist"
USEBACKGROUND="true"
USESYSTEMLOCALE="true"
USETHEME="true"
WALLPAPER="/usr/share/wallpapers/kubuntu-wallpaper.png"

Could you check your permissions on the abovementioned files and report
that back please.

report is for KDE and the corresponding customized logout we use in

I've talked to some guys in #ubuntu-devel, and they figure its a saved
session that causes you problems. Please ask in #ubuntu or #ubuntu-devel
related to those issues.

Sorry for not being able to provide you with more specific information.

The kde 3.5.7 packages that Riddell just made available (which is not

patch-wise.

The "official" kde 3.5.7 gutsy packages have not been submitted yet, but

[Bug 103401] Re: Reboot-Restart Button with classic LogOut Dialog (doUbuntuLogout=0) doesn't work

2007-05-22 Thread Stefan Skotte
Its a kubuntu-specific patch that introduces it alright.

The thing is that the kde 3.5.7 packages that Riddell just made
available (which is not official ones - rather testing) is just the same
as the current 3.5.6 patch-wise.

The "official" kde 3.5.7 gutsy packages have not been submitted yet, but
they will include the fix.

Now, I think we should fix that reboot/restart button on the current
feisty/kde 3.5.6 without question, but I was told that it wouldn't pass
the SRU.

So I don't know what more I can do :(

[Bug 109061] Re: New kde logout dialog does not work with internationalization

2007-05-07 Thread Stefan Skotte
Under normal circumstances, putting in an '&' in the text would produce
an accelerator key automatically.

However this is not the case when QToolButton is used with setPixmap and
setTextLabel (feel free to test that yourself).

So I had to do a workaround which seem to work fine though.

I have already submitted the patch to Riddell, and he will put it in
next week.

The patch is attached below if you want to test it out yourself.

2007-01-30 Thread Stefan Skotte
I think there's still an issue on feisty.

I'm experiencing this very same once in every 2nd reboot or so. The
knetworkmanager applet loads, but then disappears again.

Restarting of knetworkmanager allows you to connect to networks again.

Although I log out, and log in again it does not attempt to reconnect,
but leaves me with no network connection ([ X]). Then I select my
wireless, it connects and everything is fine.

I have no main password on kdewallet, and have saved the network key for
my wireless wpa2 network in the wallet.
