[Bug 992293] [NEW] Ubiquity install failed after copying all files. Woraround as in #710582 already needed to get this far
Public bug reported: Before this bug I already needed the workaround as described in bug #710582 (note that I am using a 386 machine and the final install CD). [Bug 548923] Re: Update manager hangs updating grub-pc
I had the same problem after updating a freshly installed Lucid Lynx (10.04) system with the package grub-pc 1.98-1ubuntu6. The program took ages (minutes that is) and then displayed, that the UUIDs had changed and I should point out which drives are the ones to install grub to. The presets were correct, yet pressing okay didn't help, after that the package installation hang and needed to be killed. My system uses software mirrored (RAID 1) drives (md0 /home, md1 /, md2 swap). It may have been just a coincidence, but polkitd took up 50% of CPU time, and dbus daemon 12% when this happend Needed to do do dpkg -configure -a which caused the same problem, but when killed after the question were to install I was able to apt-get remove -purge grub-pc and reinstall it. Unfortunately this didn't help, so I finally reinstalled the Lynx. $ lspci 00:00.0 Memory controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 Memory Controller (rev a3) 00:01.0 ISA bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 ISA Bridge (rev f3) 00:01.1 SMBus: nVidia Corporation CK804 SMBus (rev a2) 00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 USB Controller (rev a2) 00:02.1 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 USB Controller (rev a3) 00:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a2) 00:06.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 IDE (rev f2) 00:07.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 Serial ATA Controller (rev f3) 00:08.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation CK804 Serial ATA Controller (rev f3) 00:09.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCI Bridge (rev f2) 00:0a.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 Ethernet Controller (rev f3) 00:0b.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev f3) 00:0c.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev f3) 00:0d.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev f3) 00:0e.0 PCI bridge: nVidia Corporation CK804 PCIE Bridge (rev a3) 00:18.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] HyperTransport Technology Configuration 00:18.1 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Address Map 00:18.2 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] DRAM Controller 00:18.3 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] K8 [Athlon64/Opteron] Miscellaneous Control 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4350] 01:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RV710/730 05:06.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) 05:07.0 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. [Bug 109749] inkscape crashed when trying to save in OASIS-format (*.odg)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: inkscape This applies to Feisty at least. It doesnt mater if its a clean install or an upgraded system from edgy. I tried it on two different systems with identical results. I tried to save a drawing (content doesn't matter) in inkscape in the OASIS-format, by selecting "*.odg". After clicking "ok" I get a report that an internal error occured and that inkscape needs to be closed. No aaport-report is being created. I used then the (nightly) autopackage-file provided by upstream (official inkscape.org site), which doesn't show this problem. To my naive brain it should thus be easy to fix by just comparing the files created and installed by autopackage with the ones in the Ubuntu .deb. ** Affects: inkscape (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- inkscape crashed when trying to save in OASIS-format (*.odg) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Using the 2.2 OpenOffice.org .deb-packages on Kubuntu 6.10 (Edgy) works with this file. [Bug 106858] Re: OpenOffice.org Writer crashes when opening UnoConnectionListener.sxd (essential part of Bibus)
Okay, I tried it now with both Live/Install-CDs (Feisty Beta Ubuntu and Kubuntu). Opening UnoConnectionListener.sxd did NOT cause problems with Ubuntu. Also I could install and use bibus without any problems after adding it to the sources.list. Same approach with Kubuntu -> OpenOffice-Draw crashes during the attempt to load the file. Please note that on my installed Kubuntu I had installed all updates already, so it isn't fixed there yet. The problem cannot be prevented by not enabling macros nor by using a .odg version of the file (which I created on my stable box using OOo 2.2). So it seems like a KDE-OOo interaction related problem. -- OpenOffice.org Writer crashes when opening UnoConnectionListener.sxd (essential part of Bibus) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106858 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 57828] Imported RTF-file, saved as .odt is corrupt when loaded
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I downloaded an RFT-file (http://www.dfg.de/forschungsfoerderung/formulare/download/30_02.rtf) which I needed to fill in. The file open without any problems in OOo Writer (Dapper, 2.0.2). I did that and saved the result as an odt-file and fortunately also as an PDF). When I tried to load this new file, OpenOffice shows a read error and tells me that the file is corrupt. I repeated this by just opening the (redownloaded) rtf-version and saving it without any modifications as .odt with the same result. Other rtf-files, also from the same source, did not show this phenomenon when saved as odt.
