[Bug 55244] Re: battery status popup only displays once

2007-01-06 Thread Stephen Shirley
I've tested this again with edgy final, and i get the exact same
behaviour. Following from juan's mention of 'lshal -m' above, i've done
some testing:

1. Boot edgy, run 'lshal -m', press fn+f3:
keypress event is visible
2. Press fn+f3 again:
keypress event does not occur
3. Suspend edgy, unsuspend edgy, press fn+f3 again:
keypress event does not occur
4. Hibernate edgy, unhibernate edgy, press fn+f3 again:
keypress event does not occur
5. Reboot edgy, press fn+f3:
keypress event is visible

So, it seems pretty clear that it is not a hardware issue, otherwise
hibernate/unhibernate should have cleared it. I'm changing the affected
package to the kernel for now, as i'm not sure where exactly it should
be against.

[Bug 78228] External monitor does not work with radion mobility M300

2007-01-06 Thread Stephen Shirley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

My inspiron 9300 has the following gfx card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Radeon
Mobility M300]

When i connect an external monitor to the d-sub/vga connector, the
monitor turns on, and says it's receiving the correct refresh rate, but
the picture stays completely black. Pressing the crt/lcd button on the
laptop causes some brief corruption on the monitor, but otherwise
changes nothing.

I'm running edgy with updates till today (2007-01-06). This worked fine
on dapper. The relevant packages are:

[Bug 70685] DMA doesn't work in edgy on t43p dvd drive

2006-11-06 Thread Stephen Shirley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic

Reading from the dvd drive in edgy is painfully slow. dd (invoked as: dd
if=/dev/scd0 of=/dev/null bs=100M count=1) reports a read-speed of
~1.8MB/s. The same problem existed in dapper, and i think it's related
to bug #42083.

I've tried booting with combined_mode=ide, combined_mode=libata, neither
made any difference, nor did passing the atapi_enabled=1 parameter to
libata. Most of the instructions i've found on the net talk about
getting libata/ata_piix to handle the sata controller instead of ide-
generic, but in my case that's already the case, and DMA still doesn't
work, despite dmesg claiming the drive is set up for UDMA/33. DMA works
fine for the hard drive though.

I can confirm this in the edgy i386 beta too. Doing an 'lvm lvscan' in
the console shows that the lv's are being detected alright, but none of
them have been activated. Setting the lv's active manually allows the

[Bug 64204] Re: lvm install into an existing volume doesn't work on Edgy Beta amd64

2006-10-11 Thread Stephen Shirley
To clarify, this is using the edgy beta alternate installer. Steps to
reproduce:

1. Boot off of edgy beta alternate installer cd
2. Proceed through steps until you reach the partioner, choosing 'manually edit
partion table'
3. Choose 'confiugre the logical volume manager'

Expected results:
The partioner should detect and display the various vg's and lv's that it's
found

Actual results:
The partioner reloads instantly with no change in the partitions offered

Workaround:
1. Change to the console via alt-f2
2. Manually activate the relevant lv's using 'lvm lvchange -ay $vgname/$lvname'
3. Go back to the partioner via alt-f1, choose the 'go back' option
4. Select 'partition disks'
5. The lv's will now be visible and usable in the paritioner as normal.

[Bug 60098] irssi silently truncates long lines

Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

[Bug 57446] Rhythmbox + gnome-keyring clash

2006-08-23 Thread Stephen Shirley
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Mount a samba share using nautilus, store the password in gnome-keyring when
prompted.
2. Add some music tracks from that share into the rhythmbox library
3. Reboot
4. Start rhythmbox

Expected result:
Rhythmbox should get gnome-keyring to prompt for password for the default
keyring. If unlocking the keyring succeeds, rhythmbox should then be able to
access the share. If a user hits 'cancel' on the dialog, rhymbox should stop
requesting it.

Actual result:
Rhythmbox throws up multiple gnome-keyring dialogs (11 in my setup), hitting
cancel in any of them causes another one to reappear until you type your
password into one of them correctly. After that you still have to hit cancel on
all the other dialogs to get them to go away.

Hmm. Has that upload gone through? Checking the source packages for
dapper and edgy both show that --enable-hostname is still supplied in
debian/rules (also packages.ubuntu.com/tsocks shows that it's the same
package unmodified that has been used since warty), and the dapper
package still gives the same error. I had a quick look at the supplied
configure script btw, it definetely has inbuilt support for both
'--enable-hostnames' and '--disable-hostnames', i'm not sure why it's
screwing up though.

[Bug 52692] Re: xchat-gnome crashes on 'save transcript' on blank screen

2006-07-15 Thread Stephen Shirley
Found the issue, here's a patch that fixes it. It's been a while since i
last did gtk programming, so it may not be the cleanest way to handle
this. Disabling the menu entry (and keyboard shortcut) until there is
something to save would probably be best.

Sorry, really should have included those details. I'm using ubuntu 6.06.
xchat-gnome version 0.11-0ubuntu6. It is 100% reproducible on the two
dapper machines i have here.

Crud. That last attachment seems to have gotten eaten. Attaching again
with a less launchpad-hostile name.

[Bug 52692] xchat-gnome crashes on 'save transcript' on blank screen

2006-07-11 Thread Stephen Shirley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. load xchat-gnome
2. type ctrl-s OR discussion-save transcript

Expected result:
A save dialog, or maybe that the option is disabled until there's some text in
the buffer.

Actual result:
Segfaults every time.

[Bug 43450] Re: Passphrase set and stored is not what was entered

This bug doesn't seem to be present in the version of nm shipped with
dapper. Everything looks good.
