[Bug 1671611] Re: USB wi-fi dongles not working with latest updates

2017-03-09 Thread Steve Gula
No longer think this is a network-manager issue. On a fresh install I
changed over to kernel 4.8.0-41 but did not perform any other updates
and had the same issue. If I boot with the default 4.4.0-53 kernel I do
not have this issue.

also worth mentioning - my RJ-45->USB dongle does not suffer this
problem and neither does mobile phone -> laptop USB tethering.

[Bug 1671611] [NEW] USB wi-fi dongles not working with latest updates

2017-03-09 Thread Steve Gula
Public bug reported:

Same laptop - two different network dongles (ASUS USB-N13 + Edimax cheap
commonly used with RaspPis). Confirmed issue with xenial-updates and
xenial-security versions. Going to try to force a downgrade to original
xenial to see if it still happens.

They work fine w/ the 18.1 Installer/Live Boot.. They worked fine after the
install.. when I did the latest update they broke.

[Bug 607241] [NEW] after a weekend of being locked, xscreensaver will not unlock

2010-07-19 Thread Steve Gula
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xscreensaver

I'm not sure if this is an xscreensaver issue or a greater
authentication issue.. but it seems like after a week of uptime or a
full weekend of having the desktop locked.. when I come back into work
xscreensaver will no longer unlock with my password. It acts as though I
have entered it wrong. However, if I do 'switch user' and log in as
myself it works fine. I've had this happen to me every Monday for the
last few weeks. This persists until I reboot.
