[Bug 1069202] Re: 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video
I have found the solution, it seems the bug is not ubuntu side. It can be fixed with a patch to the VMWare program in question. See this thread: http://communities.vmware.com/message/2103172#2103172 I will not include the logs, since the issue is well documented on a few threads on the VMWare forums. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069202 Title: 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1069202] Re: 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video
The bug is in fact a VMWare bug which can be patched, see: http://communities.vmware.com/message/2103172#2103172 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069202 Title: 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1069202] [NEW] 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video
Public bug reported: When I start the VMWare Player 5 virtual machine my screen goes all crazy... horizontal lines of color - probably the colors on the screen, but all mixed up. I can see the mouse moving,b ut can't tell where it is (seems in many places at the same time). This has only been since updating to 12.10 (and updating to the mainline kernel 3.6.2) amd64 ati Radeon Opensource drivers recently updated to 12.10 (VMWare install was on 12.04) Linux version 3.6.2-030602-generic (apw@gomeisa) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) ) VMWare version 5.0.0 build-812388 I'm not sure if the issue is 12.10 or the kernel - but I suspect it's got something to do with 12.10 and the 3D desktop, opengl, or the ati drivers. If someone could recommend which logs I should include, I can do so. (May be a bit slow.) ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 12.10 3.6.2 vmware -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069202 Title: 12.10/3.6.2 - VMWare Player (W7 Host) produces corrupt video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
