[Bug 461864] Re: Add Seamonkey 2.0 to Ubuntu
FYI, a re-branded version of SeaMonkey 2.0 is already available within the Debian Testing repositories: http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/iceape-browser -- Add Seamonkey 2.0 to Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461864 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 488792] [NEW] Built-in acpi-cpufreq causes problems on Via Nano CPUs
Public bug reported: Currently the cpufreq scaling ACPI P-states driver (acpi-cpufreq module) is built-in into kernel. Associated kernel key: CONFIG_X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ (Defaults to Y) It is reasonable to modularize it in the upcoming version of default Karmic kernel because of its bug and consequent Via CPUs problems. The best solution out there is blacklisting it in favor of an open-source cpufreq-via module, a good replacement for the buggy and deprecated e_powersaver. Problem is that in Karmic it is unable to insert cpufreq-via instead or even on par with acpi-cpufreq because Device or resource is busy. On a generic kernel, but recompiled configured to use acpi-cpufreq as a module, it could be blacklisted at once and won't cause problems of any kind. On current generic kernel with the module built-in this can't be done. Not sure, but modularizing won't probably affect its current users because the module is still here but won't mess up anymore for those users who don't need it. This will definitely increase the experience quality for Via-based systems users because currently CPU frequency scaling is completely broken there. Moreover, for some stupid reason, with the default P-states driver the Via Nano CPU frequency will stay at the lowest grade available forever while driver reports wrong frequency. This results in nothing but annoyance and abysmal overall system performance, requiring whole kernel recompilation for a single small flag to be disabled. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Built-in acpi-cpufreq causes problems on Via Nano CPUs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488792 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 480073] [NEW] update-manager-core doesn't calculate estimated procedure time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager-core Hello. While upgrading a console-only light 9.04 system to 9.10 using do-release-upgrade, the command will say that: Fetching and downloading updates may take up to few hours. I would say this is not a clever move since the subject system needed something like 130 packages upgraded due to its low-n-light nature. Probably it could be worth calculating estimated time on the package amount basis at least. ** Affects: update-manager-core (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- update-manager-core doesn't calculate estimated procedure time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 356274] Re: [MASTER] Please update seamonkey to latest 1.1.18
Probably updating to 1.1.18 is pointless for the reasons described here: http://www.mail-archive.com/secure-testing-t...@lists.alioth.debian.org/msg02588.html One more reason is Seamonkey 1.x series is pronounced not oldstable anymore but unsupported instead so may be reasonable to start looking into 2.0 because it is the only version treated as adequate currently. -- [MASTER] Please update seamonkey to latest 1.1.18 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 479543] [NEW] Seamonkey becomes unstable with Enigmail
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: enigmail Seamonkey suite's Mail is known for not supporting OpenPGP encryption out of the box. For this reason, an add-on called Enigmail was once created, it brings PGP features for mail signing and decrypting. Once installed, though, Enigmail of recent version (0.97a at the moment) will make the suite unstable, generally the Mail and Newsgroups. The PGP functionality is present and works though writing a memo may and will most likely produce a crash of a whole suite incl. browser with all open windows etc. The information is unsaved. Disabling the add-on works like a charm though I guess there should be a better solution. The bug is not to be called trivial because launchpad collaboration includes working with PGP-secured mail. [Bug 296185] Re: seamonkey spontaneously closes without warning
Hello guys, I'm confirming a sort of this bug with recent Seamonkey 2.0 (General Release). The trick was to enable the Enigmail add-on. Once enabled, Seamonkey begins random and much of rapid segfaults while in Mail Newsgroups mode. Actually so rapid that I'm not even that fast to write an average-sized memo. This is really disappointing because Enigmail is my only way out. For those of you who have no idea, this is a Thunderbird 2.x / 3.x and Seamonkey-Mail 1.x / 2.x extension giving a large amount of OpenPGP features to work with e-mail. SM and TB doesn't have this out-of-the-box, but this is a very important feature. Probably it is not a SM bug, though it is not okay. -- seamonkey spontaneously closes without warning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 464707] [NEW] software-properties-kde corrupts sources.list file
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kpackagekit I've produced this bug on a y-day's final release image of Kubuntu Karmic Koala LiveCD, downloaded from the official FTP. I've ran it in Live mode, everything started fine, then I've started the kPackageKit, a frontend to APT package manager I guess. Before gaining the package list from the server, I've opened kPackageKit options and did the following: I've ticked the Multiverse and removed Restricted, changed the Default mirror to Other but no dialog or something has appeared, instead every ticks I had set were removed from options dialog, so then I've changed Default mirror option from Other to Russian Federation and set the ticks as I want, and then I have closed the options dialog, saving the settings. After that step I was unable to search for packages or anything, kPackageKit complained about something like Package cache were not generated previously, updating won't help. Then I've decided to use APT and opened a Terminal and typed: $ sudo aptitude update but it didn't work, it complained on (below comes original text in Russian, lower comes the translation) E: Искажённая строка 2 в списке источников /etc/apt/sources.list (анализ URI) E: Invalid consistency at line 2 in the sources list /etc/apt/sources.list (URI analysis) I've opened sources.list file in text editor and what I saw was weird lines like the ones here (Exact copy below): deb karmic main restricted universe multiverse deb karmic-updates main restricted universe multiverse deb karmic-security main restricted universe multiverse So the idea was kPackageKit had an error and removed the whole addresses. After bringing lines to their normal look (example below) I've updated the package cache fine and kPackageKit works. deb http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu karmic main universe multiverse My ideas are that this may be due to strange behavior of the kPackageKit when having no package cache at all (As had I, because the first run from LiveCD won't have a cache obviously). All versions used are default for Kubuntu Karmic release CD as of 29th of October, '09. Unfortunately I'm not currently able to find out the exact versions and gain original messages in English, but as far as I remember, KDE should be 4.3.2 for the Karmic release. ** Affects: software-properties (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kpackagekit sources.list -- software-properties-kde corrupts sources.list file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kpackagekit in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
