[Bug 649778] Re: caps lock turned on automatically from time to time
After a long long time of fiddling around with this bug, at least for me i tracked the issue down to: tvtime When using tvtime, the problem appeared from time to time, without it, it never happened again. So it might be related to tvtime only. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: php5 Hi, there is a bug in php 5.3.2 which makes filter_var to fail on urls/domains/hosts that contain a dash ('-'). Since filter_var is used in some well known webfrontends (syscp for example), the bug stops users from using domains like ubuntu- linux.org. The patch is included in php 5.3.3. [Bug 649778] [NEW] caps lock turned on automatically from time to time
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hi, since upgrade to lucid i got this problem more often and more dramatically: From time to time it looks like caps lock is enabled (without showing the caps light btw!): LIKE AT THE MOMENT *NARF* I CANNOT TURN IT OFF (BUT if i turn caps lock on - light turns on, letters are normally again). As you can see, the caps turned off at BUT by itself. This is not a joke, its really annoying. It takes up to a few minutes till the problem is gone. The following didn't help: - typing setxkbmap into a terminal (was suggested in some forum) - switching windows / turn off some random running programs like openoffice, firefox, thunderbird, whatever - slapping the keyboard - buying a new keyboard... - switching from a ps/2 to a usb keyboard (so ps/2 port is fine, too) - pull keyboard and push again in (so kind of a reset) - pressing nearly all keys didn't help, too. So this simply sucks (sorry). I stops me from working from time to time, since even with pressed caps lock key, i only can type the normal letters, signs like . or , are always upper case, so : or ;. I don't know where the problem comes from, i also asked at irc a few days ago, but only suggestions like replacing keyboard, which i have done yet, doesn't help. I got one error message once(!) when the problem occoured: atkbd.c: Spurious NAK on isa0060/serio1. Some program might be trying access hardware directly. so something seems to be there, but i don't know what. The problem occoured on 09.10, too, but only for one letter from time to time (so i didn't notice the most of the time, only when having a vnc/rdp session to some windows box for example, because after a few times pressing the shift key, you'll get some notice about enable some helping key functions or something like that). would be nice to get this fixed... REGARDS::: AND THERE IT IS AGAIN:::(CRAP) SVEN PS: ha! i swtiched to console - but not there, switched back to x - problem gone too - but this might not help and maybe the bug was gone by itself again, but i'll try this again when it happens again, which will be within the next minutes/hours i guess..) PPS: this is the third time i try to report this bug, the other two times i just got an oops from launchpad... [Bug 644288] [NEW] mysql-server-5.0 on 08.04 LTS leaks filedescriptors
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0 Hi, after a period of time (depending on the usage / settings of max fds) i got the following error: mysqld[19434]: 100921 12:37:00 [ERROR] Error in accept: Too many open files followed by: mysqld[19434]: 100921 12:55:18 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Sort aborted period. First, i thought, this was due to to many requests at a time etc. but after some time, i found the real problem (or at least what i think is the real problem): mysql-server left over some file descriptors from temporary tables. I see a lot of them after some time: lsof -n -u mysql | grep (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql5u REG 0,20 0 2296091262 /dev/shm/ibNUtjVP (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql6u REG 0,20 0 2296091263 /dev/shm/ibNx10ED (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql7u REG 0,20 0 2296091264 /dev/shm/ibu2EIor (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql8u REG 0,20 0 2296091295 /dev/shm/ibkBzLii (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 12u REG 0,20 0 2296091302 /dev/shm/ibmZ6XDb (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 27u REG 0,20 551196 2296100778 /dev/shm/MYrmT98Z (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 346u REG 0,20 306240 2296096285 /dev/shm/MY7AdNjg (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 351u REG 0,20 306228 2296096551 /dev/shm/MY367oH1 (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 355u REG 0,20 306188 2296097302 /dev/shm/MYrTsJ7r (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 356u REG 0,20 306216 2296096796 /dev/shm/MYDCukv6 (deleted) mysqld 4078 mysql 365u REG 0,20 305988 2296104576 /dev/shm/MY4kY9Rx (deleted) (after about 20 mins of uptime) As you may see, the tmp directory points to /dev/shm to speed up operation for temp tables. I cannot verify which query exactly left over those fds because not every query seem to be a problem, at least from what i could test... As there is no other package for 08.04 LTS i would like to get this fixed somewhere. I've raised the limit for open fds to around 16k now, so the problem only occours once a month... but this is still not accepable. I'll provide as much information as possible, if needed. [Bug 473615] Re: cryptsetup init scripts are redundant and can break the boot
Hi, i've the same issue which is driving me nuts actually. Setup is Ubuntu 9.10 with /home and swap encrypted (setup since 6.10 or so, can't remeber exactly when i added it). It worked fine till 9.10, then the insane problems started. It sometimes work (e.g. i can enter the passphrase at boot) but mostly i'm unable to boot my maschine since the boot process just hangs. Today, the problem even got worse. I updated my box today, which installed a new kernel, so i had to reboot. Interesting thing is, that last time i rebooted (28th Jan iirc) i got prompted for my passphrase at the gui (i think its upsplash) and all worked fine. So i thought the Problem is gone. Today, nothing(!) works. In the past, a few reboots made it work from now and then and i accepted the workaround. Today, even 20 times of booting made it impossible to enter a passphrase at all. The upsplash only shows that one or more devices (/home in this case) failed to mount and offers me a rescue console when pressing ESC. This console works for, lets say a minute or two, after that, next to 0 keystrokes made it to the console. A few times i saw output from cryptosetup which seems to get my rootpassword (when entering the rescue console, it asks for the root password, but the keystrokes seems to get to cryptsetup, but only a few/sometimes...) and thus still fails to boot. If i try to enter my cryptodisk password, i got a failed login, so i don't know when i'm able to enter what ;) After a few workarounds etc. i found, still nothing worked. The workarounds i tried: bootwait to mountpoint, removed splash from the kernelparameters, trying to switch to a non gui runlevel... so the good old /etc/init.d/cryptodisks restart mount /home gave me back my home (i just have to be quick enough) and with crtl + d the boot process continues normally... and voila, here i am... So for me, the new version of cryptsetup seems to made it better in the first (reboot of 28th january worked fine), but something after that made it even worse. The following packages where installed since 28th jan: hal 0.5.13-1ubuntu8 man-db 2.5.6-2 libfuse2 2.7.4-1.1ubuntu4.3 fuse-utils 2.7.4-1.1ubuntu4.3 libwbclient0 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 libsmbclient 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 samba-common 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 smbclient 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 samba-common-bin 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.4 libc-bin 2.10.1-0ubuntu16 initramfs-tools 0.92bubuntu53 man-db 2.5.6-2 hicolor-icon-theme 0.10-2 desktop-file-utils 0.15-2ubuntu1 menu 2.1.41ubuntu1 libid3-3.8.3c2a 3.8.3-7.2ubuntu2 id3v2 0.1.11-4 vorbis-tools 1.2.0-6 gtkpod-data 0.99.14-2ubuntu3 gtkpod 0.99.14-2ubuntu3 libc-bin 2.10.1-0ubuntu16 menu 2.1.41ubuntu1 man-db 2.5.6-2 hicolor-icon-theme 0.10-2 desktop-file-utils 0.15-2ubuntu1 linux-image-2.6.31-19-generic 2.6.31-19.56 libdevkit-power-gobject1 011-1ubuntu2 devicekit-power 011-1ubuntu2 libgtk2.0-common 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 libgtk2.0-0 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 libgtk2.0-dev 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 libgail18 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 libgail-common 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 libgtk2.0-0-dbg 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 gtk2-engines-pixbuf 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 gnome-power-manager 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.3 libgtk2.0-bin 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.2 linux-image-generic 2.6.31.19.32 linux-generic 2.6.31.19.32 linux-headers-2.6.31-19 2.6.31-19.56 linux-headers-2.6.31-19-generic 2.6.31-19.56 linux-headers-generic 2.6.31.19.32 linux-libc-dev 2.6.31-19.56 python-ubuntuone-storageprotocol 1.0.1-0ubuntu1 python-ubuntuone-client 1.0.3-0ubuntu1 ubuntuone-client 1.0.3-0ubuntu1 ubuntuone-client-gnome 1.0.3-0ubuntu1 libc-bin 2.10.1-0ubuntu16 any ideas?
