2015-05-06 Thread Sylvain Cherrier
modprobe -v rt61pci nohwcrypt=y did the job for me...

seems to be quite stable now..

I'm still testing is the connection keeps running.

[Bug 838966] [NEW] had to remove this driver to make wireless work

2011-09-01 Thread Sylvain Cherrier
Public bug reported:

Hi,
after a kernel update (i don't know which one), my broadcom 4313 stop
working... (iwlist scan was ok, but no connection !)
After removing proprietary driver (via the System menu), it works well (just as
if a driver was installed in the new kernel)

Proprietary Driver still invites me to install the driver, but i don't
need it.

Cheers

Hi,
sorry, i have made a new installation from scratch, and it worked well..
(nvidia driver 173, and then 177), everything okay..

It was caused by my upgrade from my old version (maybe 7.04, then 7.10,
then 8.04, and finally 8.10)..
I've made so many modifications and tests, and maybe there were some
hand made configurations and installation that were in conflict.
sorry for this fake bug.

Thanks for your mail.

Well, a Windows user often reinstall his OS... :-(
because of virus, malware, etc.. etc.. Even with good protections...

So, one day broken in Dapper's life is really small in front of what
happen in Windows's life !!

But, maybe it could be a good idea to think about a way of restarting
from a previous configuration...
Maybe booting from Installation CD, and downgrading ? Or something like
that ?

Well, at the beginning, when X crash at reboot, i have searched in
/var/cache/apt/archive to find what was new..

It was xserver-xorg-core, so i have downgrade to the old package version
(that was also in /apt/cache/archives/

As X was working now, i have report (bug 57207)...
And worked on my computer...

Then, i update with the latest version, and it worked...

Kubuntu Dapper
AMD 64 2,2Ghz
MotherBoard Asus A8N-E
