[Bug 705035] Re: Unity 2D wont start after an update

2011-01-19 Thread T Rowe
I had similar. After updating last night (I am using the unity-2d-team
ppa) I got the desktop with no unity-2d-panel or unity-2d-launcher. I
logged in on the recovery console and re-ran sudo apt-get install
unity-2d-default-settings and everything came up fine. This happened
on two separate machines. I think I noticed name changes from qt to 2d
in some of the files, and my session chooser now says Unity 2d. Before
the update it said Unity Qt. Maybe something due to that?

[Bug 705035] Re: Unity Qt session broken after an update

2011-01-19 Thread T Rowe
@Maarten:  I don't think I did anything other than reinstall unity-2d-
default-settings. As a matter of fact, I think I did unity-qt-default-
settings on the first machine. Both came up back normally, with both
showing Unity 2d in the chooser, and I checked version numbers and they
are current to what is showing in Launchpad.

@Florian: I used update manager, and it gave me a partial upgrade,
which I performed. When I logged off and back on, I got desktop only.
That's when I restarted, went to recovery console and did what I stated
above.

Requested files attached.

[Bug 693779] Re: Applications should be launched maximized if window's size approaches screen size

2011-01-17 Thread T Rowe
I believe this is an incorrect behavior. I should have control over my
own system to make windows the size I want without them going maximized.
Case in point, Firefox is taking up roughly 75% of my screen and it
maximizes every time I launch. At very least, the thresholds need to be
tweaked to much closer to maximized.

Thanks for the response. I'd sure like to see this fixed in Lucid, but
I'm unsure about adding a task to clutter only.

2010-05-10 Thread T Rowe
I have the same problem in 32bit Lucid also. Nvidia GeForce FX 5200.
Also worked up to a month ago, also tried the clutter_vblank=none to no
effect. I'm using the Ricotz repositories now too.

[Bug 559707] Re: Homosapien/Sorbet close button broken when it is the only button displayed (Metacity)

It works correctly for me in Compiz, Metacity has always been the
problem. Will there be a fix that get pushed to Ubuntu's repositories
community-themes?

Difference is Metacity vs Compiz. Behavior is as intended in Compiz,
broken in Metacity. If this is now in the wrong group, would some admin
please make sure this is properly assigned. We are getting close to

[Bug 559707] Re: Lucid Beta 2 appears to break Homosapien/Sorbet close button when it is the only button

2010-04-20 Thread T Rowe
In testing further I'm getting some inconsistent behavior. In two
builds of Lucid, I have windows that have a single button (close) such
as Appearance Preferences and Shutdown confirmation windows. Then I
have two other builds, and those same windows have two buttons (close,
maximize). When a window has a single button, the behavior I specified
above holds. When two buttons show, the correct behavior is exhibited.
All but one build is a clean install from the beta 2 CD. Can anyone
tell me why I'm getting two different behaviors?

[Bug 559707] [NEW] Lucid Beta 2 appears to break Homosapien/Sorbet close button when it is the only button

2010-04-09 Thread T Rowe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: community-themes

After running Update Manager the morning of 4/9, which corresponded to
when Beta 2 was released, the Homosapien and Sorbet Close button loses
its color background when it is the only button, ie: no min and max
buttons (ex: Appearance Preferences menu). The button work as intended
when all 3 are displayed. Tested this on 2 boxes. Someone else
confirm?

[Bug 422414] Re: Icons too dark with Dust

2009-10-09 Thread T Rowe
I'm using 0.4.2 Humanity-Dark and I see the same as Friedrich on my
Jaunty install. Volume icon is way too dark for a dark panel. I
noticed on my Karmic beta install, the panel icons look similar to the
ones from 0.3.1. Am I missing something or is Karmic using a different
volume icon?
