[Bug 1587876] Re: package i8kutils (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-06-01 Thread Tank
i8k seems to be an ongoing problem for Ubuntu and Dell machines. We've
had problems with i8k on other Dell machines. No solutions were reached.
All threads marked as SOLVED were narrow in scope concerning a few
models. Alternative was to dump Ubuntu and install Microsoft.

[Bug 1024208] Re: [regression-r3320][GLES] td plugin (3d Windows for the cube) has severe clipping/transformation glitches

2015-03-28 Thread Tank
I have this bug. All my friends have this bug. My friends won't post
because they tell me it's useless to post bugs anymore because Canonical
won't do anything anyway. They have lost faith.

People on other forums are saying that Canonical simply won't fix it.

Does anyone know why is it being ignored?

Thanks for the info. We will give it a try and see if the employees like
it. At this point we'll try anything to keep the natives off the
warpath.

BTW; The .Deb version in question can be downloaded here:

Thank you for taking your time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are closing this bug as kiba-dock isn't part of the
official Ubuntu software repositories and doesn't get support from
Ubuntu.

I still looked into this for a bit and noticed you didn't provide a link to the
.deb you filed this bug about. Didding through the net I couldn't find it
either and looking at the project homepage all I could find were packages for
edgy and feisty. I then downloaded the source code and built the application on
the current development version of Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04) which I'm using
right now (I don't have a karmic pc anymore) and kiba-dock works perfectly fine
there.
So here's what I'm thinking:
The package you're using was built for an older Ubuntu release and you're
trying to use it in Karmic. As newer Ubuntu releases contain newer Software,
the package might depend on library versions from an older Ubuntu release and
thus fails to work in Karmic. If this is the case then the package needs to be
rebuilt against the Karmic release and there is nothing we on the Ubuntu side
can do about it, please contact the person that built the package you're using.

PS: From what I've seen 'gnome-do' in dock mode provides similiar
functionality as kiba-dock and is part of the official Ubuntu
repository. Care to try it?

[Bug 370816] Re: VPN connects flawless, but no changes in behavior

Got the same problem. Running a clean install of 9.10, 32-bit. Network
Manager connects to the wlan without problems, and when connecting using
VPN it also succeeds. Unfortunately there is no change. I still can't
access any resources through the VPN. Attached is a tail of daemon.log.
Apparently the following fails:

preNov 30 13:20:17 groogrux nm-dispatcher.action: Script

This bug is hugely annoying :-( Any suggestions for a quick fix?

[Bug 229382] Re: [hardy] Can't connect to WPA wireless connection using nm-applet

2008-11-15 Thread Tank
This seems to be quite a big problem,

http://tennessee.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?s=f3202bbbf70d2ffcbb818426ae343f95t=964837
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=963379
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=970236

When I select my wireless home network, which uses WPA-PSK encryption,
NM tries to connect. It fails and asks for the key to the wireless
network. Entering the key sometimes helps, but mostly NM just fails
again. The password field contains the hashed value of the key. It
correctly shows Wireless security to be WPA WPA2 Personal.

The issue seems somewhat random, but 98% of all connects fail. This is a
clean Ubuntu 8.10 install with all updates. The issue appeared right
after the installation, so it cannot have been introduced by an update.

Attached relevant parts of syslog.

Exact same thing happens on my system. Has this bug been fixed yet? Is
it possible to update/upgrade something to get it to work?
