[Bug 955926] Re: No pop down menus on "Archivo Editar Ver Ir Ayuda" after fresh install

2019-01-10 Thread Tedesco
I don't know if the problem has been resolved by changes in the software or a
new version results in a correct functionality.
If the fact that we reached end-of-life of the version 12.04, results in "no
more action on software maintenance" the bug report could be closed without
resolving the problem.
And this is not "Fix Released". Or "close the bug-report" always is indicated
with "Fix Released".

Once again thank you very much to all the people working on ubuntu
I'm very happy with the ubuntu-server with KVM/QEMU libvirt

2019-01-10 Thread Tedesco
The actual version status of all the linux boxes (about 10 units) or VMs
(about 6 units) with ubuntu desktop is from 14.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS
without any problems in the reported context.

Thank you for your indications and
a happy new year

[Bug 1804206] [NEW] lock screen desabled by an application

2018-11-20 Thread Tedesco
Public bug reported:

When you lock the screen by mouse click on the 'lock icon' you can experience
the pop up of the message:
"No se pudo bloquear
Una aplicación impidió el bloqueo"
=> To lock wasn't possible
An application disabled the blockage

On the photo attached you see this situation.

To reproduce this phenomenon is complicate, it depends on the number of windows
and the position of the left window on the screen area. And perhaps the focus
of the first window.
In this case these two windows are virt - viewer applications.
With windows of the Firefox it wasn't possible to produce the situation.

I don't know if it's the design or something wrong, with more than 1
virt-viewer window open you can't block the screen.
And the key-combination Alt-L don't block the screen.

[Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
 reboot SUCCESS!!!

We have back the display and the movement of a window without any problems on
left, right and bottom.
But there is a difference to the 16.04 LTS version: Here in 18.04 you can't
grab a window in the inner area with help of the Alt-key like in 16.04

OK, but what’s about the background?
I have still desktop and server with ubuntu to upgrade to 18.04.
Do I have to make the same configuration by hand?

Form information:
On Friday I tried to use the source code of mutter-3.28.3 and I got to one
status with ./configure.
This doesn’t make a difference with configuration of "WaylandEnable=false"?

[Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
ok, my situation her at work is, that I have to use this computer, we taking
about, for data-treatment.
And as I decided last week to upgrade from version 16.04.x to 18.04.1 I got the
display problem.
But fortunately I can still use the computer like a server with my
data-treatment inside but without display.

Despite of this experience I confirm I prefer use Ubuntu OS instead of
Windows OS.

The data treatment is still running

[Bug 1803504] Re: Screen stops redrawing sometimes when moving windows

2018-11-19 Thread Tedesco
As I mentioned before, I have neither keyboard access nor mouse functions, but
I get into this box by a ssh connection from another linux box.
The configuration file looks like:

# GDM configuration storage
#
# See /usr/share/gdm/gdm.schemas for a list of available options.

[daemon]
# Uncoment the line below to force the login screen to use Xorg
WaylandEnable=false

# Enabling automatic login
# AutomaticLoginEnable = true
# AutomaticLogin = user1

# Enabling timed login
# TimedLoginEnable = true
# TimedLogin = user1
# TimedLoginDelay = 10

[security]

[xdmcp]

[chooser]

[debug]
# Uncomment the line below to turn on debugging
# More verbose logs
# Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
#Enable=true

But for the reboot I have to wait to finish a heavy data treatment on this box.
(The 'only' think is the missing display.)

OK, before working on your to do list .

Yesterday with an update (Start-Date:2018-11-15 13:49:41) on this linux box
there where ...libegl-mesa0... in the list of modules.
There where no indication of restart required but I reboot the system and
the graphic was frozen.
See picture attached.
There was no possibility to use the mouse or the keyboard to get out of this
state.

But with ssh I can connect in.

You will find also the file var_log_apt_history.log where you find the
re-installation of the ubuntu-gnome-desktop (Start-Date: 2018-11-14
11:49:00) which results in recover the screen graphic.

[Bug 1803504] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2018-11-15 Thread Tedesco
Public bug reported:

Moving a window, on the bottom of screen there is a zone of 2 or 3 cm you can't
pas the window.
The down movement is blocked and the mouse cursor with the closed hand moves
down into the inner window area. When you try to move the window ones again
upwards you will see a broken graphic part of the window as background and the
graphic structure of the window get lost. All these movements with the left
mouse bottom pressed.
But:
If you move first the window to the left border and forward out of the screen
area you can move the window down without the graphic problem. If at least a
small part of the window is outside of the left screen area you can move the
window up again passing through the bottom zone of 2 or 3 cm without problems.
On the right-hand side of the screen area these movements are impossible.

A big problem you will have with a windows virtual machine in full screen mode.
You can't use the bottom menu.

(This week y made the upgrade from 16.04.n to 18.04.1 with big graphic
problems, black screen etc.
Then reinstall gnome from command line solved the problems with black screen.)

[Bug 1403653] Re: Kworker takes 100% CPU after installing OSX Yosemite upgrade

2015-05-23 Thread Tedesco
Hallo, I like to confirm also the behaviour with the gpe13 in my case.

Pendrive ISO:
Origin: Ubuntu
Label: Ubuntu
Suite: trusty
Version: 14.04
Codename: trusty
Date: Thu, 08 May 2014 14:19:09 UTC
Architectures: amd64 i386
Components: main restricted
Description: Ubuntu Trusty 14.04

One of the 8 threads was all the time at 80% and back from suspension it
goes up to 98%.

I used also this indications to keep the CPU load (1º thread) down ...
http://sudoremember.blogspot.com.es/2013/05/high-cpu-usage-due-to-kworker.html
…. but then it was not possible to suspend the system.
The click on “suspend” or closing the Lifebook, only results in blockage of
the session but without stop of the system.

Downgrading xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to version 1.5.99.902 did not fix the
issue for me.
I just opened the lid after a suspend of approximately 40 minutes and got
kicked out to lightdm
about 30 seconds later.

[Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()

2012-07-24 Thread Daniel Tedesco
The steps I do to reproduce it are:

- Boot up Ubuntu, log in to Gnome shell via LightDM.
- Close the lid of the notebook.
- Wait. (*)
- Open the lid of the notebook.
- Log in via the "locked screen" login prompt.
==> After a ~5-10 seconds I'll find myself back in LightDM, on the next login I
get the error report telling me about the SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty().

(*) It seems that opening the lid directly after closing it does not
trigger the problem. But when the lid was closed over a few hours, it
happens pretty much every time.

What kind of information do you need from me?
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430s with the new i5 Ivy Bridge architecture. Ubuntu
12.04, Kernel 3.50, Gnome Shell (but the behaviour was the same in Unity). I
can provide more information if you need it.

[Bug 598567] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIChangeDeviceProperty() on resume from suspend to ram - synaptics_drv error

2012-07-22 Thread Daniel Tedesco
I have a similar problem. After waking up from suspend (i.e., after
opening the lid), I can log in via the Gnome-Shell "Locked Screen", and
after a few seconds find myself back in LightDM. It doesn't happen every
time ... usually after I have closed and opened the lid several times.
It seems that it crashes more often after the lid was closed for a
longer time (i.e. not only seconds). When I open the notebook in the
morning (after being suspended for ~7 hours) , it always crashes.

I'm on a Thinkpad T430s.
Ubuntu 12.04, Kernel 3.50, Gnome-Shell.

The error I get in apport is

"Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIChangeDeviceProperty()",
the package is xserver-xorg-core.

I'd like to attach the log, but I don't know how to do this. :-)

[Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()

2012-07-19 Thread Daniel Tedesco
I also get this message. I'm on 12.04 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T430s.
X usually crashes after suspending/waking up the notebook a couple of times .

I open the notebook, type in my password, and after a few seconds in
Gnome-Shell am thrown back into LightDM.
After logging in again Apport tells me that /usr/bin/Xorg "crashed with SIGSEGV
in XIGetDeviceProperty()".

This is driving me nuts. I'd be happy to provide error logs etc.

[Bug 955926] Re: No pop down menus on "Archivo Editar Ver Ir Ayuda" after fresh install

2012-03-22 Thread Tedesco
Now I have the English version of InstallationMedia (20120321) installed.
At 09h38 am I used the Update Manager and restart the system.
After the login with the mouse over the top menu line there is no change to see
"File Edit View Go Help".
You have to open and close the Dash -window (or other apps) to see the (on
mouse over) menu items. You get also the pop down menus with a click.

When you make now a restart or cold-start and the login you get (on mouse over)
the "File Edit View Go Help" menu items but with a click on any of them you get
no pop down menu.
After open and close the Dash -window (or other apps) it works correct.

[Bug 958898] Re: [network]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in nm_device_get_udi()

2012-03-21 Thread Tedesco
I install iso of 21 of march (downloaded 12:15).
Open "Network" from Dash. Tried to click on all active fields to change
indications. All seems to be OK.
On the same window click on "All applications" and start again the "Network".
Try to click al active items. Click on "All applications". And so on ...
Three or four times and the next click on "Network" caused the crash.

[Bug 958898] Re: [network]: gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in nm_device_get_udi()

2012-03-21 Thread Tedesco
With no application in use I started Remmina to connect to another
Linux-Box. No conextion was set up -> timeout.

Start of "Network" from the Dash, click on Network proxy -> after 3 - 5
seconds crash of "Network" / closed the window.

Now with Firefox writing this words .. I tried to open "Network" and it is
possible to switch between "Wired" and "Network proxy" to see the information.
Now on the same time I started Remmina to try to connect like before. But now
the main Window is gray (overload?) and the little "Connecting to ..." window
is open but you can't use the Cancel button.

On the "Network" Window selected "Wired" the Options -Button is deactivated.
After an CLOSE and OPEN "Network" the Options... -Button is active again.

To close the Remmina Window you have to click on the close button of the
main window and use the Force Quit in the upcomming window.

[Bug 165213] Re: ghex truncates large files when saving

2008-01-03 Thread Gianni Tedesco
I also noticed problems with ghex and large files. Is it a 32 or 64 bit
CPU that you're using? I'm not sure ghex is designed to handle that big
a file at all. Besides it ought to save to a temporary file and rename
it over the original, just to be safe and avoid chomping your data
anyway.

As for the performance with big files, mmap is the way to go. The
attached patch demonstrates this. I tried it out on some fairly modestly
sized files (600MB sort of ballpark) and the results were predictably
spectacular. This patch is a bug-ridden hack but it might work for your
case.

I started work on doing all this portably with glib. There's a way to do
it without changing the UI behaviour but it's not a trivial one-nighter
and my school homework + other things got in the way for now so...
