Dana, the fn-key problem that you describe here also appeared when I went from Karmic to Lucid on my HP ProBook 4510s, which has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD-4330. [Bug 405667] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon crashed with signal 5 in g_thread_join()
This crash happened as I was mounting a shared VirtualBox folder. I'm running UNR Karmic as the guest OS.
