[Bug 1826881] [NEW] Greeter uses wrong keyboard layout for password field regardless of user selection
Public bug reported:
The problem happens at the password field of the login screen after
booting up Ubuntu 18.04 with Unity desktop installed. The problem does
not happen with the password field of the lock screen after login.
The default system keyboard layout is Dvorak (for example, if you go to
TTY1 the terminal will type using the Dvorak keyboard layout).
On LightDM, the user logging in is a Qwerty user and is not familiar
with Dvorak. When they attempt to login they are told their password is
incorrect. Checking the chosen keyboard layout, English (US) is chosen.
Typing the password as though the Dvorak keyboard layout had been
selected works. Therefore, the greeter is in fact using Dvorak in spite
of the user setting.

1: Install Ubuntu from scratch and choose Dvorak as the keyboard layout.
2: Create a second user ('user 2') who uses Qwerty.
3: Ask user 2 to log in.

I have the same issue on 16.04. Using Online Accounts to add my Google account does give me my Drive files. But the calendar is not listed (options only for files & photos). The Gnome Calendar is empty. Public bug reported: In 16.04, invoking the HUD allowed commands to be typed which would produce a list to choose from. In 18.04, pressing ALT does show the empty HUD - but typing commands doesn't populate a list for some applications. I upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04. Not working: Firefox, LibreOffice, Audacity (even with pasuspender) Working: Gedit Other apps work, but don't display comprehensive menus like in 16.04. I click 'Run this action now' as directed and I am prompted for my password. But, the conversation ends there and after waiting for some time I decided to click the only other button, 'Close'. I'm going to try to reproduce this. To clarify, can you say that the 2GB limit was *not* caused by disk / partition getting full? In the terminal you can run: df -h and it will tell you what percentage full each partition is. I believe when I had an issue where the camera was warning me about space, it was the /userdata partition that was 100% full. Moving stuff to the SD card rectified it. I was about to report the same issue here Rob, until I ran byobu --version on the different machines. Turns out the machine I was ssh'd into has: byobu version 5.87 tmux 1.9 Ubuntu 16.04 has byobu version 5.106 tmux 2.1 So it looks like the other (Raspbian) machine has the issue. Simple test is, does it work *before* you ssh into Debian? In my case the answer is, yes. Another use case is that some of my directories are on cloud storage and mounted at login. Public bug reported: I removed my microSD card for the first time on the day the OTA-10 update arrived. After the update, the scopes were smooth as silk and I thought this was as a result of the OTA. But after re-inserting the microSD card they are back to their normal way; smooth for a few minutes, jerky for a few minutes. Card: SanDisk 16GB Micro SD HC Scopes: Today, Apps, My Videos, Dictionary, Simon's Cat, Discerning Duck, Crafting, Command Line This is 100% reproducable on every ocassion now when I remove or insert the card and either symptom remains - ie, it's not something that just lasts a moment and then corrects itself. I have the Log Viewer app installed. I can upload any logs requested. As a result I can't currently reproduce the issue because my list of messages is only two screens long (it was tens of screens long originally). I'm not sure if it's the same case but in my case, after making or receiving a call I can no longer use the dialpad or hang up. It means I cannot navigate automated call-centers and that I cannot hang up before getting through to voicemail because rebooting the phone isn't fast enough. Also, for companies where I have to use the keypad to navigate departments, no keypresses are recognised. Time does not increment. The issue is if I send you an sms now, it will not show on the Today scope until it has done a refresh. I only mention it to highlight that the refresh requirements of each child scope differ so much and that this dissonance suggests to me that the refresh activity should be left to the children. Regarding #2, thanks for the link. I did go through the few reports for the Today scope before filing, but not the Day ones. Congratulations to all involved for a lovely scope. It's now the 'landing' scope on my phone and allows me to use my phone much more efficiently than my previous iOS/Android phones.
