[Bug 1801609] Re: Fails to deactivate dpms off mode after user initiated wake-up events(not system-suspended, just locked and dpms active)
I would refrain from messing with the video drivers just to workaround a bug in the screen locker. Solution #27 doesn't work for me either. What works for me is killing light-locker and replacing it with xfce4-screensaver or gnome-screensaver. [Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10
The correct solution to the problem I've been facing was finally solved on comment #58, thanks @prasanth-s-cmi. I've contacted the kernel developer responsible for these patches introduced around Linux 4.16.1 on https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1571330 , and he will blacklist my laptop model (Lenovo G40-80) for newer versions of Linux. Meanwhile, `ahci.mobile_lpm_policy=0` can workaround this problem. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1571330 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1571330 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798961 Title: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1798961/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10
I haven't been bitten by this bug with an uptime of 9 days with workaround #42. But I had not the opportunity to test suspending my laptop during this time. Also, I recommend creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf instead of /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf. This bug has become a catchall for any type of system unresponsiveness. I had hope the hard-lockup problem would be solved on Linux 5.0, Ubuntu 19.04, but it wasn't. [Bug 1633642] [NEW] udisks ignores SD cards
Public bug reported: I've always had many problems trying to get my SD cards, from different brands, to be recognized by Ubuntu. But this week, I tried digging deeper, and found that a device actually shows in journalctl as /dev/mmcblk0, with partitions such as /dev/mmcblk0p1, and after reading many documents, I simply got rid of this problem with the following /etc/udev/rules.d/personal.rules: KERNEL=="mmcblk*p*", ENV{UDISKS_IGNORE}="0" For some reason, udisks thinks sometimes it should ignore SD cards by default...
