@karl-piccket try booting with ahci.mobile_lpm_policy=0, and then try
comment #42 if it doesn't work.

[Bug 1801609] Re: Fails to deactivate dpms off mode after user initiated wake-up events(not system-suspended, just locked and dpms active)

2019-05-22 Thread Teresa e Junior
I would refrain from messing with the video drivers just to workaround a
bug in the screen locker. Solution #27 doesn't work for me either.

What works for me is killing light-locker and replacing it with
xfce4-screensaver or gnome-screensaver. I haven't tested mate-
screensaver and xscreensaver.

[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10

2019-05-20 Thread Teresa e Junior
The correct solution to the problem I've been facing was finally solved
on comment #58, thanks @prasanth-s-cmi. I've contacted the kernel
developer responsible for these patches introduced around Linux 4.16.1
on https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1571330 , and he will
blacklist my laptop model (Lenovo G40-80) for newer versions of Linux.
Meanwhile, `ahci.mobile_lpm_policy=0` can workaround this problem.

[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10

2019-05-02 Thread Teresa e Junior
I haven't been bitten by this bug with an uptime of 9 days with
workaround #42. But I had not the opportunity to test suspending my
laptop during this time.

Also, I recommend creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf instead of
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf. Files under /usr/share can be
lost during package updates.

[Bug 1798961] Re: Random unrecoverable freezes on Ubuntu 18.10

2019-04-23 Thread Teresa e Junior
This bug has become a catchall for any type of system unresponsiveness.
I had hope the hard-lockup problem would be solved on Linux 5.0, Ubuntu
19.04, but it wasn't. I'll try the solution from #42 and report back.
The probable root cause of the problem may be investigated on the diff
from comment #23.

I have been using Linux 4.15 as a workaround too. I noticed I could
reproduce the bug easily by watching YouTube on Chrome in fullscreen. I
know it is related to the GPU, but in my case, the Intel drivers (Mesa
DRI Intel HD Graphics 5500 (Broadwell GT2) v: 4.5 Mesa 18.2.2)

2018-11-24 Thread Teresa e Junior
I also have had random system freezes ever since I upgraded from 18.04
to 18.10, Linux 4.18.0-10-generic, solved by always booting into
4.15.0-36-generic. When the freezes happen, the screen simply stops, and
no input is accepted, not even the usual REISUB.

Reverting the package xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin does NOT solve the
problem, the bug is probably in the panel itself.

[Bug 1731533] [NEW] Scrolling by clicking on steppers unbearably slow

2017-11-10 Thread Teresa e Junior
Public bug reported:

A change was introduced on GTK+3 that makes scrolling by clicking on
scrollbar steppers unusable, at a rate of about just 1 line per second,
as reported by some users on multiple channels:

*
https://askubuntu.com/questions/732796/ubuntu-15-10-slow-stepper-scrolling-in-terminal
* https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2015-October/msg6.html
* https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/xubuntu-users/2017-November/010358.html

Currently, the only way to scroll by using the steppers is by RIGHT-
CLICKING on them, which is non-standard behaviour, which could be
considered as an accessibility issue, as it is only documented in the
GTK+ changelog:

https://abi-laboratory.pro/tracker/changelog/gtk+/3.18.2/log.html
* GtkScrolledWindow
 - Keep scrollbars below treeview headers
 - Switch the roles of secondary and middle click on scrollbar steppers
   - Primary click starts low-speed autoscrolling
   - Secondary click start high-speed autoscrolling
   - Middle click scrolls to the end
 - Tweak button bindings on scrollbars (and scales)
   - Primary click warps to the location
   - Primary click with Shift jumps by pages
   - Secondary click starts variable-speed autoscrolling

[Bug 1728236] [NEW] Should depend on qt5-style-plugins

2017-10-28 Thread Teresa e Junior
Public bug reported:

xubuntu-default-settings has both the file
/etc/skel/.config/Trolltech.conf, which sets the look of Qt
applications, and /etc/X11/Xsession.d/56xubuntu-session, which sets
QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2.

The package qt5-style-plugins is still needed, though, for Qt 5
applications to use the Greybird theme and Xfce4 font settings.

[Bug 1665264] Re: isc-dhcp-server 4.3.3-5ubuntu12.6 BOOTREPLY to wrong MAC address

2017-03-24 Thread Teresa Remmet
I have tried this, too. I added the option "ignore-client-uids on;" and deleted
the lease file.
After restarting the server I could boot several targets. I also don't know if
this is a bug or not.

[Bug 1665264] [NEW] isc-dhcp-server 4.3.3-5ubuntu12.6 BOOTREPLY to wrong MAC address

2017-02-16 Thread Teresa Remmet
Public bug reported:

I am testing network boot on several embedded targets using BOOTP from
the isc-dhcp-server package using Ubuntu 16.04.2.

The /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf I modified looks like this:

subnet 192.168.3.0 netmask 255.255.255.0
{
  # The filenames must correspond to the barebox and MLO files which are placed
in the /tftpboot directory
  range dynamic-bootp 192.168.3.11 192.168.3.100;
  if substring (option vendor-class-identifier, 0, 10) = "AM335x ROM"
  {
filename "MLO";
  }
  elsif substring (option vendor-class-identifier, 0, 18) = "am335x barebox-mlo"
  {
filename "barebox.bin";
  }
  range 192.168.3.101 192.168.3.199;
}

Booting the first target does work out of the box with no issues:

Feb 16 09:11:38 lws- dhcpd[4259]: BOOTREPLY on 192.168.3.13 to

Feb 16 09:11:46 lws- dhcpd[4259]: BOOTREQUEST from 68:c9:0b:1c:74:8c via

And then the booting works..

Trying to boot the second target (different board with different MAC)
does not work any more:

[Bug 1633642] [NEW] udisks ignores SD cards

2016-10-14 Thread Teresa e Junior
Public bug reported:

I've always had many problems trying to get my SD cards, from different
brands, to be recognized by Ubuntu. Sometimes they are recognized, and I
can simply click on the icon to mount them, but most of the times they
don't appear. Searching for a solution in the web, I've found many
people who just thought their SD card reader is not supported under
Ubuntu.

But this week, I tried digging deeper, and found that a device actually
shows in journalctl as /dev/mmcblk0, with partitions such as
/dev/mmcblk0p1, and after reading many documents, I simply got rid of
this problem with the following /etc/udev/rules.d/personal.rules:

KERNEL=="mmcblk*p*", ENV{UDISKS_IGNORE}="0"

For some reason, udisks thinks sometimes it should ignore SD cards by
default...

Thank you, Ronald, for posting the solution on the Xfce Bugzilla. For
those who are suffering from the same problem, just like I was, edit the
file ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs and be sure to set XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR to a
small directory, since right clicking on the desktop will scan this
directory.

Subject: [Bug 264621] Re: Edirol UA-1EX Advanced mode recording support

I have reviewed the wiki a number of times and seen mention of a patch
which adds support for this advanced mode, I upgraded to a version of
Alsa which included the patch but was still unable to get it to work as
I expected using the following command:

arecord -c2 -r96000 -fS24_LE /dev/null -vv

After reading through a lot of bug reports related to other Edirol
hardware on the Alsa bugtracker I found out that the advanced driver
mode uses a non standard 3 byte sample and as such the command above
needed to be changed to:

arecord -c2 -r96000 -fS24_3LE /dev/null -vv

This is not documented anywhere so I will try to get it added to the
wiki and the existing bug reports at the Alsa bugtracker.

Hi,

I would like to add my voice to the call for fixing this bug. I lost
sound when I upgraded to Kubuntu 8.04. I have the latest version of
linux-backports-modules-generic, 2.6.22.15.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo lshw -C sound
[sudo] password for david:

I should add that I am running 32-bit Kubuntu on a dual core amd-64
machine.

Thanks for your hard work!
