[Bug 1575290] [NEW] NetworkManager does not display AnyConnect option on 16.04

2016-04-26 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

In 15.10 and earlier versions I could do this:

```
sudo apt-get install network-manager-openconnect-gnome
```

and after logout and re-login NetworkManager would display the Cisco
AnyConnect (openconnect) option under VPN \. Since I installed 16.04 (64
bit) this option no longer appears in NM.

OpenConnect works just fine from command line:

```
sudo openconnect --user=theo --authgroup=IT vpn.example.com
```

Guys I don't have that computer to proceed with the test. I gave it back

@Brad. I cannot run the command you propose because I have no
connectivity. And if I run the command on the patched kernel you will
probably not see what you are looking for.

[Bug 1378690] [NEW] 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller UNCLAIMED on Ubuntu

2014-10-08 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

 I am currently using 14.04 but I have tested this from 10.04
(downloaded from oldreleases) to the beta 14.10 and the bug is still
there. 32 or 64 bit releases do not seems to make any difference.

I solved the issue temporarily by downloading the sources from Intel and
applying the following procedure:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1276211&page=4&p=8021944#post8021944

This however is a temporary fix and the patch will have to be re-applied
on the next kernel update.

This are my network interfaces. Wireless worked fine even after applying
the above mentioned patch:

[Bug 1309754] Re: Network interfaces not working with kernel 3.13.0-24-generic

2014-10-07 Thread Theodotos Andreou
I am not sure what you mean by default vs mainline. Should I file the
bug using the affected computer or another working one?

I can file a new bug if that's necessary but I am not sure if you are
going to get the correct information since I patched it using this hairy
hack here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1276211&page=4&p=8021944#post8021944

Should I file the bug anyway?

[Bug 1371097] Re: cupsd is not allowed to access /var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb by apparmor

2014-09-19 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Hi Martin,

I added the following lines at the end of
/etc.apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd:

  # cupsd needs access to /var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb

  /var/cache/samba/*.tdb r,
}

Restarted the computer and I still get:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/8379136/

Cups thinks that everything is OK:

[Bug 1371097] [NEW] cupsd is not allowed to access /var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb by apparmor

2014-09-18 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

For some reason /usr/sbin/cupsd tries to access
/var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb. I have a printer setup via samba so that
may be the reason.

The apparmor profile for cupsd does not allow this. I get this error in
the logs:

 kernel: [284527.967015] type=1400 audit(1411040510.770:103):
apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd"
name="/var/cache/samba/gencache.tdb" pid=1722 comm="smb"
requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=7 ouid=0

A listing of the apparmor profile (/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd) is here:
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/8372024/

The file /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.cupsd belongs to the cups-daemon
package

The system silently fails to print from GUI. The fanny part is that I
printed something successfully the day I set the printer up (yesterday).

2013-06-18 Thread Theodotos Andreou
OKI enabled the proposed repo and now I got the updated version:

# aptitude show openssl | grep -i version
Version: 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.10

But running TestSSLServer against my dovecot pop3s (port 995) I still
get that the system is vulnerable to CRIME.

Compression is supposed to be disabled by default and only enabled when
you use the OPENSSL_DEFAULT_ZLIB environment variable right?

2013-06-18 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Guys I have also failed the PCI test on my SSL enabled postfix and
dovecot.

I run TestSSLServer and it says:

CRIME status: vulnerable

I am using Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (precise) 64 bit and my openssl version is
1.0.1-4ubuntu5.9.

Is this backported to precise? What is the easiest way to be protected
against it? Does the OPENSSL_DEFAULT_ZLIB env variable works on my
version?

[Bug 987724] [NEW] Caps for Greek (and probably other) locales are not working

2012-04-24 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

When I run this command:
  xdotool key Greek_GAMMA

I get "γ" instead of the expected "Γ"

xdotool version:
$ xdotool -v
xdotool version 2.20110530.1

on Ubuntu Linux 11.10 64 bit (kernel 3.0.0-17-generic)

"xdotool key Greek_gamma" works as expected:
γ

This happens for all the letters of the Greek alphabet and apparently on
Cyrillic as well.

I also tried "xdotool key Aacute" and "xdotool key aacute" and they both
display the lowercase version:
á

[Bug 567365] Re: Eject key on Mac Pro not working

It also happens randomly on 11.10 (oneiric). Sometimes it works and
sometimes it doesn't. Retraction is not working at all! Using the
"eject" command on command line works and "eject -t" causes the drive to
retract correctly.

[Bug 753330] Re: The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called for PID 1783 (/usr/sbin/winbindd).

2011-04-07 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Do I need to create a winbind-dbg using the procedure describing in the
above link? It looks like samba-dbg has some files relevant to winbind:

# dpkg -L samba-dbg | grep -i winbind
/usr/lib/debug/lib/libnss_winbind.so.2
/usr/lib/debug/lib/security/pam_winbind.so
/usr/lib/debug/usr/sbin/winbindd

The debug report is longer now:

---
The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 1653 (/usr/sbin/winbindd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows
the state of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log
files may contain additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the
samba-dbg package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba
binaries. Then submit the provided information as a bug report to
Ubuntu by visiting this link:

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Guys I receive this message occasionally when I restart my Ubuntu
Server:

---
The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 1783 (/usr/sbin/winbindd).

This is 64 bit Ubuntu Server 10.04.02 LTS that runs as a guest on VMWare

Any idea what this message is all about? Should I worry? Everything
seems to work fine after I receive it. Let me know if you need any
further information.

[Bug 735297] Re: Can not print on an SMB shared printer after password change

2011-03-17 Thread Theodotos Andreou
OK I now see what is happening. I commented out the "AuthInfoRequired"
line but I still get the problem. The issue is that the follow me line
still has the old password and it will not update it automatically after
prompted even when I click the "Remember Password" option.

That explains why it works when deleted. All entries are erased and
recreated when the new printer is created. But for whatever reason it
cannot update the password to an existing printer.

I think this is a serious bug that could affect the use of Ubuntu in
enterprise environments.

Actually the SRB02MF001 was deleted and recreated and works fine. I kept
the problematic FOLLOWME configuration so we get the chance to test it.

[Bug 735297] [NEW] Can not print on an SMB shared printer after password change

2011-03-15 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cups

I print to a number of SMB shared printers in a 2003 Active Directory
domain. My password is changed from time to time as a policy in our
organisation. When this happens I get prompted to enter the new password
but I can no longer connect to the using the new password. The previous
password was saved using the "Saved forever" option

The only workaround I found is to delete the printer and recreate it. I
had this problem several times in the past and so are the rest of my
ubuntu users. Is there a workaround for that. Can someone confirm this
bug?

I tried to sniff the packets from my PC to the Print Server but
wireshark showed nothing! This means that the problem is actually on my
side. I can connect to other domain services like file shares using the
same credentials. I am using the DOMAIN\username format to connect.

[Bug 695834] Re: VNC Doesn't Transmit Certain Characters Properly

2011-01-24 Thread Theodotos Andreou
OK I think I found the issue. The problem was not on the vinagre side
but on the vnc server. I use x11vnc and I added the -xkb flag to it.
rfkrocktk can you test it yourself? This is my setup:

root@MAE02WS004:~# cat /etc/xinetd.d/x11vnc
service x11vnc
{
port= 5901
type= UNLISTED
socket_type = stream
protocol= tcp
wait= no
user= root
server  = /usr/bin/x11vnc
server_args = -inetd -o /var/log/x11vnc.log -display :0 -auth
/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -usepw -many -bg -noxdamage -ncache 10 -xkb
disable = no
}

And created a password using the "x11vnc -storepasswd" command.

After the -xkb flag everything works like a charm!

But you are right initctl is not installed! upstart is installed but I
don't know what happened to initctl! I installed some additional
packages after the installation but I am not sure if anyone of them
deleted this file. I reinstalled upstart and now everything is back to
normal. Despite your pessimism the system was pretty usable even with
out the initctl script. Very peculiar!

Public bug reported:

I want to enable NAT (more precisely Masquerading) and I followed the
example at "man ufw-framework"

r...@server:~# tail /etc/ufw/before.rules

*nat

# Forward traffic through eth0 - Change to match you out-interface
-A POSTROUTING -s 10.10.0.0/16 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

# don't delete the 'COMMIT' line or these rules won't be processed
COMMIT

But when I run "ufw enable" I get:

r...@wg:~# ufw enable
Command may disrupt existing ssh connections. Proceed with operation (y|n)? y
ERROR: problem running ufw-init # <-- ** This is the error! **

And when I check the nat table there is nothing:

[Bug 550962] [NEW] resolvconf will not update /etc/resolv.conf -> /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf on startup

2010-03-29 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: resolvconf

I installed resolveconf and i have setup my /etc/network/interfaces
manually:

r...@server:~# cat /etc/network/interfaces
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo

address 10.10.0.1
netmask 255.255.0.0
network 10.10.0.0
broadcast 10.10.255.255

On startup resolvconf ignores the dns-* entries and is empty. When I
restart networking (invoke-rc.d networking restart) everything works
fine. I am using Lucid beta server edition.

I have temporarily solved the problem by putting "invoke-rc.d networking
restart" in /etc/rc.local but this souldn't happen in the first place!

[Bug 485773] [NEW] Bridged Networking on Virtualbox 3.0.8_OSE on Karmic is not working

2009-11-20 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

After I installed Karmic Koala on my PC, guests with bridged adapter
configuration cannot connect on the local network. I can boot them fine
but I cannot ping anything on the network from the guests. No dhcp or
arp replies come back to the Virtual Machine and I have to insert a
static IP, mask and gateway. When I do that I can only ping my vbox host
pc and nothing else.

All vbox* modules are loaded fine:

u...@pc:~$ lsmod | grep -i vb
vboxnetflt 85288  1
vboxnetadp  78760  0
vboxdrv121608  2 vboxnetflt

It used to work smoothly on Jaunty.

Packages:
virtualbox-ose
virtualbox-ose-qt
virtualbox-ose-source

Ubuntu Version:
u...@pc:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 9.10

[Bug 203020] Re: virsh attach-disk doesn't work

2009-05-15 Thread Theodotos Andreou
I run this command:

r...@vhost# virsh attach-disk vm.linux.dom boot.iso hdc
Connecting to uri: qemu:///system
libvir: QEMU error : this function is not supported by the hypervisor: only
CDROM disk devices can be attached

I am not sure if the syntax is correct. The VM was stopped when I
attempted this

[Bug 366057] Re: virt-manager refuses to connect " cannot recv data:"

2009-05-05 Thread Theodotos Andreou
I installed ssh-askpass and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.

But ssh-askpass should be included as a dependency for virt-manager
since password authentication will not work without it and you can not
use key authentication on all scenarios.

[Bug 366057] [NEW] virt-manager refuses to connect " cannot recv data:"

2009-04-24 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

I use a freshly installed kubuntu jaunty amd64.

u...@user-desktop:~$ uname -a
Linux user-desktop 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC
2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I try to connect to an intrepid ubuntu server running kvm using the command:
virt-manager -c qemu+ssh://r...@kvmhost.domain.dom/system

It refuses to connect with the message:
--
Unable to open a connection to the libvirt management daemon.

Libvirt URI is: qemu+ssh://r...@hulk.linux.dom/system

Verify that:
 - The 'libvirt-bin' package is installed
 - The 'libvirtd' daemon has been started
 - That you have access to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock'
--

Under details I get:
--
Unable to open connection to hypervisor URI
'qemu+ssh://r...@kvmhost.domain.dom/system':
 cannot recv data: Connection reset by peer
None
--

I do not think the problem is on the server side as I used to connect
correctly using the same command on Hardy but an older version of virt-
manager.

[Bug 119799] Re: It dies when you right click

2007-06-11 Thread Theodotos Andreou
I 'll try to be more specific. The treeline app has two panels, left and
right. The left one is used to display the titles of your tasks and the
other one it has the complete content of them. When you try to paste
some more text to the title of a task, in the left panel (the text is
highlighted and the cursor is blinking), as soon as you right click the
program dies. You can safely paste text in the right panel so it is not
an issue of functionality. But if you accidentaly right click in the
left panel during editing text the program will die and if your work is
not saved you are going to loose it.

2007-06-11 Thread Theodotos Andreou
Public bug reported:

When you are editing an entry in the left side and you attempt to right click
the program dies with this message:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

You can successfully copy and paste test in the right side though
