This bug also affects me. I have tested the new 1.42.11 but no success. Attached the strace; the debug log is empty for my setup also. In addition I added a strace/debug file of the 1.42.8 which worked. Confirming this. I yesterday had to lunch ppoeconf in order to connect to my company and this made an entry wlan0 in /etc/network/interfaces so networkmanger tried to find an wired wlan0!! And it doesnt show the applet until pluging a cable in. Really nice...reallyI think I got the answere why the blacklist doesnt work! The gnome session energie managment causes that the integrated webcam and the externe USB HDD doesnt work. Dont know what it is doing. If I stop it from loading at login everything is fine. Everything except of that I cant shutdown the System because the button doesnt work anylonger. After clicking the bottung gnome hangs up.
