[Bug 1005945] [NEW] Login loop after upgrade

2012-05-29 Thread Thiago Belem
Public bug reported:

After my last "aptitude full-upgrade" I got a broken compiz, where the
application switcher looked like the old version (with gray background
and really small icons).

I reinstalled the compiz, unity, ubuntu-desktop, fglrx packages and the
problem wasn't solved.

After a few reboots I wasn't able to login using LightDM, I had to dpkg-
reconfigure and change it to GDM to be able to log into the graphic
enviroment.

When using LightDM i was able to login as Guest, but couldn't login with
my user on Unity, Unity 2D, Gnome and any other option.

Fell free to ask more information about this problem and what logs
should I provide.

I removed (and purged) the Proprietary ATI Driver (12.3) and installed
the fglrx from the ubuntu repositories and - aparently - the issue is
solved.

A work around is:

1. When the screen freeze and you can't do anything (just move your mouse)
2. Hit CTRL+ALT+F2
3. $ pkill compiz
3. Hit CTRL+ALT+F7
4. Wait compiz reload :)

[Bug 739388] [NEW] compiz crash on 11.04

2011-03-21 Thread Thiago Belem
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

I was using the computer normally and compiz crashed... It's happening
every 5~ minutes on my 11.04 alpha 3.

I can't do anything except goin to "terminal mode" (CTRL+ALT+F2) and
doing a "sudo reboot".

I tried to "compiz --replace" but didn't worked, says "Display not
found" or something like that.
