[Bug 1555713] [NEW] reduce flickering by 'debouncing' user input
Public bug reported: Problem --- Every time the user changes the content of the search-bar the Dash updates its result-view. When typing, this results in result-view screen flickering. [Bug 1506838] [NEW] no carrier setting pop-up
Public bug reported: Model: Meizu MX 4 OS: Ubuntu 15.04 (r4) Carrier: O2 Germany What you expected to happen: When turning on the phone for the first time, some carriers send to you a carrier-setting-file (through SMS or MMS). On Android the OS prompts me if I want to install the file. It looks something like this: http://cdn5.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/img_54caa5e48fef1.png What happened instead: I received the message that carrier setting where send to the phone, but no pop-up or any other dialog was shown to me and therefore I couldn't install it. [Bug 1504580] [NEW] startscreen - unlock not possible
Public bug reported: I just created an ubuntu emulator using the Ubuntu-SDK 'Devices' menu and launched it. After selecting the initial options the launcher how-to gets displayed. The problem is, I'm not able to 'Open the launcher' with a mouse-swipe. Every time I swipe from the left edge of the emulator window I'm asked to redo the swip-action. I don't think that the how-to is technical broken, it is just very hard/not possible to do it with a mouse. I have the impression that the mouse-swipe input gets somewhat interrupted and can't therefore be completed. [Bug 1282847] Re: desktop ui scale is huge even though the setting is set to a scale of 1
A friend of mine has the problem too. He first used his monitor over VGA and scaled it up. Then got a new graphic card and connected it through HDMI. Even when the scale factor was set to 1, the desktop was too big, so that some buttons like the "power cog" wasn't visible at all. We reconnected the monitor through VGA and to our surprise, the scale factor wasn't 1 as expected, but higher. After resetting the scale factor to 1 and switching again to HDMI the scale factor was correct and all the display widgets visible. He is now affected by this bug. The settings show scale factor 1 but the font is huge. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282847 Title: desktop ui scale is huge even though the setting is set to a scale of 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1282847/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1335072] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT
Before installing the x-staging ppa === Both packages you listed (libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 & libgl1-mesa-glx:i386) are already installed. [Bug 1302557] Re: bootstrapping local environment as none root doesn't work
@James Page After installing the newest updates - without the juju PPA - the juju version is 1.17.7. My ~/.juju/environments/ is owned by root, too. I removed the ~/.juju folder and started again with: juju generate-config juju switch local juju bootstrap This time the bootstraping command could be executed. I guess the bootstrap section of the juju lxc article should be updated by removing sudo from the bootstrap command. In addition, it would be nice if juju didn't create ~/.juju/environments when the user accidently runs sudo juju bootstrap. https://juju.ubuntu.com/docs/config-LXC.html#bootstrap-destroy Off-topic: Next I tried to set-up juju-gui by typing: juju deploy juju-gui juju expose juju-gui I executed the juju-gui commands around 1 min after the juju bootstrap command and it doesn't seem to work. Juju status gives me an agent- state-info error '(error: template container "juju-precise-template" did not stop)' (I could create a new bug ticket for this problem if you wish). [Bug 1073114] Re: Online Smart Scopes Do Not Respect User Privacy
The problem isn't solved. I understood it like this: Unity 8 will drop the Home Scope and therefore include a Scopes Scope. When pressing the meta key and typing something into the Dash in Unity 8 the input will be >>send<< to Canonical and then the Canonical server will return a list of Scopes the user might want to search further. In the end all input will still be send through the internet to Canonical. The only thing that would change is, that not all input would be send to e.g. Amazon... but still, the input leaves your computer what is IMHO a bad thing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1073114 Title: Online Smart Scopes Do Not Respect User Privacy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libunity/+bug/1073114/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1247948] [NEW] setting items should have a fix order
Public bug reported: The current system settings icon order is alphabetical. Problem 1: Not the most important items are displayed at first in every row. For example in the 'Hardware' category (English version), 'Bluetooth' is the first item, but it should be IMHO 'Diesplays'. Problem 2: Sorting the icons alphabetical results in having the icons on different places depending on the language the system currently uses -> pretty bad when supporting other people through the phone... It would be much better to give the icons a fixed position. This would improve the system settings user experience, because the important buttons would be faster accessible. [Bug 1244979] [NEW] usb-creator workflow is unintuitive
Public bug reported: The usb-creator is kind of a semi public face of Ubuntu and an important tool to spread it. Therefore it should be as strait forward and simple to use as possible. To accomplish the goal of simplicity the usb-creator should automate as much tasks as possible for the user, prevent the user from making bad choices (installing an iso that is no longer updated) and require as less interaction (clicks) as possible. The current workflow is for me often like this: * search on the Internet an iso file and download it * insert an usb stick * format the usb stick clicking the 'Erase Disk' button * click the 'Other' button of 'Source disc image' to add the newly downloaded iso to the list * enlarge the usb-creator window to actually being able to see more than two entries in the 'Source disc image' list. * selecting the desired iso * change the 'When starting up...' setting option from 'Stored in reserved extra space' to 'Discard on shutdown...' (because the default often doesn't work). * click 'Make Startup Disk' button * enter the root password to allow the usb-creator to create an boot loader on the USB stick The summary is, the list is way to long for such an important tool that allows the spreading of Ubuntu. How it should be: * insert an usb stick -> USB stick is automatically recognized. * the user clicks on a button that allows him to download a new image from inside the usb-creator * the user selects the OS and version to download (only important information is displayed) * clicking on the 'Download image' button downloads the iso and adds it to the 'Source disc image' list. When downloading is done the sub-creator should close the download sub-page and highlight the downloaded image in the 'Source disc image' list. * 'Make Startup USB' button should start the creation of the startup stick. If there is any data on the USB stick, ask the user if he is okay that the usb-creator formats the stick, else just go one and don't ask the user any more. Install the bootloader and what ever without asking the user. This would represent the maximum steps a user would have to do to create a startup USB stick. [Bug 1244696] [NEW] status bar flickers when changing image
Public bug reported: What you expected to happen: The image viewer should not distract the user when watching images. This should also apply to switching between different images. What happened instead: The described effect applies especial to images of the same size, because the shape of the image doesn't change, the only moving part is the EOG interface. When switching between images the status bar flickers. The reason is that it displays for some milliseconds the string 'Opening image "file:///home'. [Bug 1222527] [NEW] Rename .desktop GenericName to something not too similar to 'Software Updater'
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.10 Language: English US UX Problem: When searching in the Dash for the system software updater - a pretty common task - always two entries are presented to the user with nearly the same name. There is the update-manager labeled ' Software Updater' and there is software-properties labeled 'Software & Updates', result: 'Software Updater' and 'Software & Updates'. Both names start with a capital S and a capital U → they should be easier to distinguish. Suggested solution: Relabel the less common GenericName of the .desktop file to something else. As the software-properties are less important IMHO for the daily use of an average user, I purpose to relabel it to 'Software Settings'. Not my favorite name, but visual much better to distinguish then the current name and it would share the naming pattern of having 'Settings' at the end of a program that allows the user to configure something. [Bug 1191567] [NEW] UX - click on Dash preview image should trigger 'launch' action too
Public bug reported: Problem: For an average user an icon represents a program, in the case of the Dash preview it's the preview image. There is a good chance the users will click on the Dash preview image expecting it launchs the default action. Also from an UX point of view it is much easier to click on the preview image then the launch bottom. Solution: Make the Dash preview clickable and launch the default action. Annotation: The current preview icons differs in size, it would be good to have a minimal target area defined and visual delimited. [Bug 934542] Re: LibreOffice's 'Export Directly as PDF' remains undetected by Zeitgeist
An Ubuntu only solution could maybe be the new Upstart file bridge - just an idea. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RaringRingtail/ReleaseNotes This release provides a new bridge, the upstart-file-bridge(8) that allows jobs to react to filesystem changes. For example, to have a job start when a particular file is created: start on file FILE=/var/app/*.foo EVENT=delete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934542 Title: LibreOffice's 'Export Directly as PDF' remains undetected by Zeitgeist To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zeitgeist-datahub/+bug/934542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1176416] [NEW] UX – active sound source should be at top
Public bug reported: Whats the problem: If a user has multiple audio players, sound sources - which show up in the sound indicator, the click target variates to control (e.g. stop) the current playing application. How it should be: The current active playing sound source should be at top. If multiple sound sources are active at the same time, show the newest at top. Most times there will be only one active sound source and therefor a fix mouse target to control the source. A side effect is, that this would also reduce the mouse distance from the initial click at the sound indicator to the desired target.
