[Bug 1913552] Re: using tpm reports "/dev/tpm0: Permission denied"

2021-10-24 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Hello Christian,

basically it is the same what people do here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1365829/qemu-failed-to-passthrough-a-tpm-device

Except that you need to write "/dev/tpm0 rm," into the file, as the
colon is missing and starting a VM will give you complaints on an
AppArmor rule.

In my opinion, the best solution would be either to let libvirt add an
exception when starting a VM that needs a TPM passthrough or the
exception will be made in an Apparmor file for libvirt users and its
spawned processes.

Regards,
Thomas

[Bug 1913552] Re: using tpm reports "/dev/tpm0: Permission denied"

2021-09-06 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Adding the service to apparmor works. Looks like libvirt needs an
apparmor rule or prior start of a VM apparmor needs to receive the
instruction to allow access as long as the VM is running.

[Bug 1851573] Re: configuration file //.config/debconf-kde-helperrc not writable

2021-02-23 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
I remember that I was removing recommended packages recently and since then I'm
seeing the problem, too.
I have the feeling that one of the recommended dependencies became a required
one.

[Bug 1915784] [NEW] Permissions of executables pointing to "buildd"

2021-02-15 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I've noticed this issue already with other applications, which have been
updated recently, too.
This morning I've updated the sudo package and it broke, too.

The common issue is that fakeroot gets omitted or faulty in your build
environment somehow.

After looking into the current sudo package I've noticed that all files
are owned by "buildd:buildd", which doesn't exist on my computer and
thus the 2001:2501 on my local machine.

I'll try to collect some other packages, too, which have the same
problem.

[Bug 1913215] Re: Random kernel bugs on nouveau driver and NVidia 1070 Ti

2021-02-03 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
I've got a very specific setup here, which relies on a btrfs filesystem to be
mounted.
However, starting with 5.11.x there is a check prior mounting, which prevents
me to boot.
It tells me basically something like "failed to read chunk tree", but I don't
see anything in btrfs-progs which could fix it. Will keep you posted.

** Description changed:

The issue exists for quite some time already. The affected UI freezes and
luckily while using the new KDE beta only the desktop freezes. Before I had to
do a hard reset since nothing was responding to key presses.
Hope there are enough debug info attached by apport_cli to the bug report.

If there is any way I can help, please ask! :)

Great! Do you think you will also manage to get all the segmentation
fauls in the older (still supported) Ubuntu releases fixed?

This would be awesome!

[Bug 1766092] [NEW] Segmentation faults after upgrade from 5.9 to 5.10

2018-04-22 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I'm maintaining the Cura PPA here on launchpad.net and I found the following
issue on Ubuntu Bionic.
Before an upgrade from 5.9 to 5.10 it was possible to run Cura without any
issues.
Any other version of PyQt5 in older Ubuntu release just started to throw this
kind of error. I don't know exactly why (because I was too busy with my BA
graduation), but basically all PyQt5 packages act the same now with Cura: They
are generating segmentation faults.

There are also other people from other distros, who have a similar
problem. This issue report might be inspiring for a patch:
https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/3438

The PPAs where the error appears are:
ppa:thopiekar/cura
ppa:thopiekar/cura-master

Installing Cura to reproduce the error is easy as usual: apt update, apt
install cura.

Regards
- Thomas

And the actual problem:

Additionally the question from me is: Is there a way to disable the dbusmenubar?
E.g. using an environment variable?

Great news! Is there also a issue report here on Launchpad for the nest-
part implementation for git recipes? Would like to get notified when
it's there.

[Bug 1364035] Re: armhf: dtb movement from /lib/firmware/$(uname -r) to /boot/$(uname -r)

2016-03-13 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
AH! This is actually no bug!

The idea is to use flash-kernel to cat the kernel image and dtb into one
zImage, which the default u-boot environment can find.
Saving all dtb files to /lib/firmware/ saves space on the (probably) limited
boot-partition...

Instructions for the different hardware can be found at /etc/flash-
kernel/db

[Bug 1528379] [NEW] libGLESv2 can not be found

2015-12-21 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I don't know whether it is really releated to "qtbase-opensource-src", but I
noticed here on my Odroid U3+ problems in Qt5 applications finding libGLES2.
Additionally KDE Plasma 5 isn't running at all.
I found that problem using "strace " were I saw that
/lib/*/mesa-egl/ wasn't checked, just /lib/*/.

Installing the debug package of libgles2 of course adds the missing file
by linking /lib/*/libGLESv2.so to /lib/*/mesa-egl/libGLESv2.so.

Can someone at least confirm this?

[Bug 1364035] Re: armhf: dtb movement from /lib/firmware/$(uname -r) to /boot/$(uname -r)

2015-10-11 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
I think most important is that nobody decided where to install them. For
example *-chromebook is placing these files at
/boot/dt-3.4.0-5-chromebook/ (!).

Seems it also affects other packages:

thopiekar@gate:~$ apt-file find dtb | grep "/boot/"

confused like me trying to install the nvidia-libopencl1-*, too.

So, why does clinfo say that there are no devices?
If you are right I would expect there some output about my GPU.

Is ocl-icd-libopencl1 not properly finding the ICD?

[Bug 1499996] [NEW] [Wily] nvidia-libopencl1-* not installable

2015-09-26 Thread Thomas Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I just noticed that installing the OpenCL doesn't work. When trying to install
any of these packages APT wants to remove all packages related to
ocl-icd-libopencl1. Well, while looking at the nvidia packages I noticed that
all nvidia-libopencl1-* packages want to replace and provide libopencl1, but
this might be the old name of the generic library.
Currently it is called ocl-icd-libopencl1, so correcting this should be very
easy!

Is there a workaround?

[Bug 1411970] [NEW] [Utopic] Compilation problems while fixed code at Vivid

2015-01-17 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

The DKMS package at utopic does not work as it fails at compilation
against the kernel headers provided by the repository.

I looked for a newer package from vivid and installed it. It worked to I
think it will be quick to fix that while copying the source package from
vivid to utopic:

Here the output of dkms:

thopiekar@hp:~$ dkms status
broadcom-sta, 6.30.223.248, 3.16.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed
tp-smapi, 0.41, 3.16.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed
virtualbox, 4.3.18, 3.16.0-29-generic, x86_64: installed

Might be a duplicate to other bug reports here, as I don't think it only
affects me..

Additionally is there a way to force to build the kioslave completely by

[Bug 1290974] [NEW] [trusty] kio seems to be missing in package

2014-03-11 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I updated my app on the phone and upgraded to trusty.
When choosing my phone in Dolphin (appears as bookmark) I get the message that
the kio is unknown. I suggest the kio in missing in the package and the
packaging files need to be updated for the new content.

If you use debhelper I would suggest to use dh_install --fail-missing
to protect against those problems in the future.

[Bug 1215572] [NEW] [saucy] c++config.h missing in i386

2013-08-22 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I'm not really sure about clang and I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I found
something curious while packaging gnustep in my own PPA.
While building gnustep-libobjc2 on launchpad and locally in pbuilder I found
out that my build is missing a header, as you can see here:
https://launchpad.net/~thopiekar/+archive/darling/+build/4896672
On amd64 this header seems to be present as builds don't fail and if I switch
to clang-3.2 on saucy i386 the same code gets built very well.

[Bug 1170589] Re: [raring] wicd-daemon fails to start

2013-07-15 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
He is talking about the workaround I suggested in my bug-description.
Just take an editor and superuser rights to edit the wicd-daemon.py at
/usr/share/wicd/daemon .
If nothing changed so far in the source code, you'll need to edit the line 1705
into:
if not (os.path.exists(backup_location) or
os.path.lexists(backup_location)):

NOTICE: As we are editing Python source code the spaces before the if
are needed!

As I have got saucy now here running, I'm not sure about that, but is
that bug not fixed at the moment? I remember there was a update some
weeks after I reported this bug.

Can someone comfirm this?

[Bug 1188982] Re: can't login into armhf chroot

2013-06-12 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
well, removing only this package does not fix the problem, but purging the full
scratchbox suite did the job.
Never thought that scratchbox might break qemu.

Thank you!

[Bug 1188982] [NEW] can't login into armhf chroot

2013-06-08 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

I created a armhf chroot and tried to login into it, but I get the
message:

chroot: failed to run command 'bin/bash': No such file or directory

I followed these intructions:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RootfsFromScratch/QemuDebootstrap

Tried the same on Debian jessie using qemu 1.2.0 and it worked.

Are there now changes how to set up a armhf chroot?

[Bug 1170589] [NEW] [raring] wicd-daemon fails to start

2013-04-19 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

When starting wicd via sudo wicd -foe, I noticed that the daemon does
not find the backup symlink in it's backup_location.

Replacing line 1705 in wicd-daemon.py with:
if not (os.path.exists(backup_location) or
os.path.lexists(backup_location)):

Fixes the problem as it is checking now whether a backup file and backup
symlink is existing.

so no chance to get it work? For a reputable distribution like Ubuntu
this sounds weak :/

Couldn't you extract this slave and provide it in universe as a
