[Bug 1603776] Re: automysqlbackup requires postfix as depency
Hi, I'm the package maintainer in Debian. The current dependencies for automysqlbackup are: Depends: bsd-mailx | mailx, default-mysql-client | virtual-mysql-client, ${misc:Depends} so there's no such thing as a dependency on Postfix. The only thing that may pull more, is the Recommends on the mutt package, but that's not at all a hard dependency. So please close this bug. :) Thomas Goirand (zigo) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1603776 Title: automysqlbackup requires postfix as depency To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/automysqlbackup/+bug/1603776/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi. [Bug 907214] Re: Kronos: xcp-xapi.init should conflict with xend
Hi, As the maintainer of xen-api in Debian (and therefor in Ubuntu because the package derives from it) I believe that is is up to *you* to decide which of the xen toolstack you want to choose, through /etc/default/xen. By default, Xen is shipped to used xm as a toolstack, and therefor needs to start xend. It should be, IMO, set to xl instead, so that xend wouldn't need to run by default, therefor solving your problem. Note that in upstream Xen 4.2 (currently available in Debian Experimental thanks to Waldi's awesome work...), xl should even more be set as default toolstack, since they are deprecating xm. [Bug 836935] Re: upload rejected for files with a time stamp too far in the past
Hi, First of all, the package is team maintained. So it isn't only me here. If you want, feel free to join the Debian PHP PEAR Maintainers pkg-php- p...@lists.alioth.debian.org, we'd be very (extremely, delighted...) happy to have some more hands, because there's lots of packages to maintain. Second, I just had a longer look at the issue. Just after installing the package, here's what I have: # ls -lah /usr/share/doc/php-compat/tests/function/acosh.phpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 263 Jun 30 23:16 /usr/share/doc/php-compat/tests/function/acosh.phpt As you see, the date is correct. So I didn't understand first what issue we were having here. Then I finally understood: file dates in the Git repository are also correct, and only the orig.tar.gz has wrong dates, but since I'm packaging with Git, I don't see the issue. You'll have it only if you don't use git-buildpackage to build, but downloading the source package and building. I tried, and it proves me correct!!! So I wonder, when you pull a package from Debian, do you *ALWAYS* rebuild it before importing it in Ubuntu? Anyway, instead of doing what you asked above (eg, using a find and a touch after dh_installdocs), I've switched to using the dh short style and pkg-php-tools, since this is a way better, cleaner, faster, and more maintainable. And magically, this solves the issue, even when *not* using git-buildpackage. I'm not sure what the scripts of pkg-php- tools are doing, but it is well possible that they have addressed the situation, since the issue of stupid dates in upstream PHP PEAR packages are recurring. FYI, I'm currently in the process of switching all of my PHP PEAR packages to this style of packaging, which I believe will smooth everything. So, here's the changelog for my last upload: php-compat (1.6.0a3-2) unstable; urgency=low * Now using DEP5 for the debian/copyright. * Now using pkg-php-tools and dh 8 short style (so depends on dh 8). This also sloves an issue when rebuilding the package without using git-buildpackage, because of upstream file dates set to 1/1/1970, which was affecting Ubuntu (LP: #836935). * Section is now php. -- Thomas Goirand z...@debian.org Tue, 20 Sep 2011 01:13:22 +0800 So, I would suggest you to synch this last upload to SID, since it will fix your troubles. I hope you didn't mind the long explanations, but I thought it was worth explaining! :) Cheers, Thomas Goirand (zigo) P.S: Note that I couldn't use the ${phppear:Debian-Depends} since it was erroring on me... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/836935 Title: upload rejected for files with a time stamp too far in the past To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/836935/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That the release-critical bugs lasted into the depths of the Debian release freeze to the point that the only available option was removal certainly qualifies as persistent in my book. This isn't what happened. I asked for removal not because it was unsuitable for release, but because the release team refused to unblock version 0.32, and because I had no time to work on testing version 0.30. The main issue was that I had my Debian account early in July, and it was a very though schedule for me with all the work I had to do, and with the freeze happening without prior annoucement! I think you don't understand at all what's happening. Absolutely *all* of the release-critical bugs have been dealt with, in both SID and in old-stable. Bugs are still opened because the old-stable packages hasn't reach yet the security mirrors. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=dtc;dist=unstable lists 8 bugs at RC severity that are not fixed in unstable. NO!!! Look better. The bugs are still open, but they are marked as fixed in 0.34.1! The bugs are still open because not yet fixed in old-stable (but I did upload already). Are you unaware that these bugs are still affecting the package in unstable? I quite know they are fixed, since I'm the one who fixed them. It is an opinion that I share. This software serves a security-sensitive function, and the set of security issues that have been encountered to date are a clear indication that you are not well versed in the necessary secure programming practices. The probability of further significant security issues being found if someone were to audit the code approaches 1. That's a much better wording that what you wrote before which was simply wrong. :) When dtc migrates back to Debian testing, I'm more than happy to revisit this removal. Ok. However, failing to propagate to testing doesn't keep the package out of Ubuntu releases; dtc has been included in every Ubuntu release since at least hardy, carrying significant security vulnerabilities. Which I systematically addressed by giving security updates. Please see the package history. I'm currently working on Ubuntu security releases, you can already use version 0.34.1 and 0.29.18, and I will be backporting bug fixes for other Ubuntu versions. As suggested by Scott Kitterman, I therefore intend to remove dtc from oneiric and blacklist it to prevent it from being reintroduced accidentally. It would have been nice to get in touch with me first... [Bug 836935] Re: upload rejected for files with a time stamp too far in the past
Hi, I'm the maintainer of that package in Debian. Would it help you guys if I made another upload, fixing upstream tarball? Or is it fine as-is, and you can still accept it for the latest Ubuntu? There's no new upstream version, no bugs on the package, so no real reason for me to re-upload appart from fixing this tiny file date issue inside upstream tar.gz. So if I can avoid re-uploading, that'd be great! Please let me know. [Bug 655100] [NEW] dtc-xen statslogger breaks and dtc-xen leaks memory after a xm start/stop
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dtc-xen We have discovered that when a xm start/stop/shutdown is requested using the dtc-xen SOAP daemon, dtc-xen tries to trap the stdout/stderr in order to be able to forward it to the SOAP client that connects to it. The issue is that after it did so, it didn't release stderr/stdout, so that they are going into an internal variable of dtc-xen instead. The result is that, after a xm start/stop/shutdown: - dtc-xen leaks memory, with a variable that takes the output of xm list every minutes - the dataCollector thread that does xm list cannot get the CPU statistics as it was designed for, because the output is redirected to a variable. Upgrading to version 0.5.13 from SID fixes the issue. This change has been already accepted by the Squeeze release team. Please sync v0.5.13 from SID ASAP. See bug repport here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=598387 The Debian maintainer and upstream author, Thomas Goirand (zigo) ** Affects: dtc-xen (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- dtc-xen statslogger breaks and dtc-xen leaks memory after a xm start/stop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/655100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
