[Bug 1958639] [NEW] Intel WiFi 6 AX210 hardware stops working
Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 20.04.3: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release:20.04 I am running Ubuntu on a Lenovo ThinkPad P14s with Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX210 Wi-Fi interface. This used to work up to kernel 5.11.0-46 (which loaded iwlwifi "firmware version 59.601f3a66.0 ty-a0-gf-a0-59.ucode op_mode iwlmvm"). Recently, Ubuntu auto-upgraded my kernel to first version 5.13.0-25 and then 5.13.0-27. Both of these kernel versions load iwlwifi "firmware version 63.c04f3485.0 ty-a0-gf-a0-63.ucode op_mode iwlmvm" and then my Wi-Fi interface no longer works. [Bug 1933649] Re: Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install
I have verified the checksum of my downloaded image and it is OK. Also, the live image performs a file system check on boot which also completes OK. I am convinced that this is appropriate as a bug report rather than a support case. I actually do absolutely nothing to end up in this state. I simply wait for the install image to finish booting as I have usually seen it do with previous versions of Ubuntu. Rather than ending up with a usable desktop showing an option to install Ubuntu, I just get this black screen with the Ubuntu logo. The strange white rectangle seems to me to be an indication that something is wrong. It is as if it is an artefact of a window not being displayed properly on screen. If I click around the screen randomly, I can sometimes by chance "grab" an apparently invisible window on screen which draws more odd, white artefacts on screen when I drag it around. I suspect it could be some kind of graphics driver issue. The Focal Fossa default desktop background *does* display correctly on screen for a couple of seconds before it ends up in this useless black state. This computer is currently running Ubuntu 18.04 with no apparent problems and has been doing so for several years. I have been using Linux for more than twenty years and Ubuntu for about 10, so I am not quite a novice anymore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933649 Title: Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1933649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1933649] [NEW] Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install
Public bug reported: I am attempting to install Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 from a freshly downloaded Live image on a USB stick. My computer boots from the image and I get to the point where it displays an empty desktop with the Focal Fossa background image. After displaying the empty desktop for a few seconds, the screen switches to black with a white Ubuntu logo towards the bottom and a narrow vertical white rectangle which I suppose is an artefact of some menu that it fails to display properly. I would expect Ubuntu to either display the desktop to me, populated with various icons such as a shortcut to install, or display some install menu to me. Neither happens; it only displays this black screen where I cannot do anything. I attach an photo of this. This is quite a problem as it prevents me from installing Ubuntu 20.04.2.0. I am able to switch to a terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 and log in as "ubuntu", but I have no idea what I would have to do to initiate the install from the terminal or somehow fix the broken desktop environment from there. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: focal ** Attachment added: "Image of symptom of error on screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933649/+attachment/5507011/+files/Billede%2025.06.2021%2013.55.49.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933649 Title: Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1933649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have identified that the problem in my case also seems to be caused by the wrong 'install-info' being used: t...@tha-desktop:~$ which install-info /usr/local/bin/install-info t...@tha-desktop:~$ ls -l /usr/local/bin/install-info lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 51 2009-02-27 15:54 /usr/local/bin/install-info - /usr/local/texlive/2008/bin/i386-linux/install-info t...@tha-desktop:~$ So, the problem seems to be caused by my PATH containing paths in an order that uses /usr/local/texlive/2008/bin/i386-linux/install-info. I worked around the problem by specifying a modified PATH for apt-get as follows: sudo PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/game apt-get -f install menu There may be more elegant ways of working around this? [Bug 155811] printers print garbage after dist upgrade
Public bug reported: I have just upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy using a dist upgrade. Before the upgrade, I had two printers set up for my PC which worked perfectly. The printers are a HP LaserJet 4100dtn and a Color LaserJet 4600dn. I print to them using CUPS and they are both connected through IPP. The whole setup used to work flawlessly under Feisty. Having upgraded to Gutsy, the printers now print garbage. I have both tried printing from a document in kpdf and printing a test page from the printer management window in Gnome. When I say they print garbage, it looks as if they print the actual PS code as raw text. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cups gutsy ipp ** Tags added: cups gutsy ipp -- printers print garbage after dist upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
