[Bug 192055] [NEW] Failure when using getpwnam core function from perl

2008-02-14 Thread TiagoCruz
Public bug reported:

During tests of FAUS application
(http://faus.sourceforge.net), release 1.4.5, an issue was found by using
getpwnam function from Perl. This
release was already tested against Mandriva, Debian and Oracle Linux without
showing the same bug.

The bug happens when executing the script addsmb by using the web application.
Executing the script in a
shell as root does not shows the same behaviour, working as expected.

The script addsmb is a Perl script that execute the following tasks:

1 - Add an user in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow by using the Perl module
Passwd::Linux.
2 - Adds the user in the Samba database by using IPC::Open3 Perl module,
smbpasswd and pdbedit
programs.

The Passwd::Linux uses libc functions to manipulate the Linux user databases.
During step one of addsmb
Perl script, the user is added using Passwd::Linux module exported functions
and then calls getpwnam to
retrieve the ID created for the user.

When executed by the web application, the ID is not returned by getpwnam(),
that returns undef, making the
application to fail to create the user correctly.

The script addsmb is not suid: it's executed by faus.cgi by using Sudo
features. The CGI executes Sudo
with IPC::Open3, capturing STDOUT and STDERR. Sudo then invokes addsmb with the
given parameters.

We were unable to detect where the failure may be happening (libc and/or
getpwnam from Perl is our guess
because some advisory file locking should be published and respected) but we
could provide an workaround by
using "sleep 3" inside addsmb script, after calling Passwd::Linux and before
executing getpwnam().

Possible related packages:
1 - Perl core (includes IPC::Open3 and getpwnam())
2 - Sudo
3 - Apache
4 - Passwd::Linux

Please let me know what we could test to identify where is the cause of
the bug.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

[Bug 105697] Re: VMWare Player guest OS and Host Kubuntu cannot SSH into each other

2007-08-03 Thread TiagoCruz
I have this problem too, but only on ubuntu using vmware-player from
ubuntu repositories.

I have one VM running Mandriva, and I can't complete one ssh session
when I'm using Ubuntu 7.04 on host machine and using "Bridged"
connection. When I'm using NAT, I can complete SSH (sometimes...)

The same machine, works as well when I'm using VMware Player on Mandriva
Host, so I think that the vmware-player from Ubuntu have some problem.

My virtual netcard is one Intel 82455EM (using e1000 module) and the tip
of ethtool works here on my HOST Machine.

[Bug 104885] "Black Screen" when install WinXP

2007-04-09 Thread TiagoCruz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xen-image-2.6.19-4-generic

I have one Xen 3.03 running on Dell Optiplex 745 (Intel Core Due). I'm using
Ubuntu Feisty to do this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/XenVirtualMachine/XenOnUbuntuFeisty

I have configured just to test one domU ubuntu 'edgy', with fluxbox and
gnome, works as well.

After, I've tried trying to install WinXP, but don't works, always I got
one blank screen after hardware detection.

I've tried too install using qemu "on hand" and after just boot using
xen, but I got one "blank screen" again, after choice between "safe
mode" or "normal mode"...

However, I've got one tarball from xensource.com and works as well:
http://xensource.com/download/dl_304tarballs.html => 32 bit SMP

So, I think that Ubuntu packages have some problem with this...

I'm using Xen (/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.19-4-generic) and I've installed the

[Bug 46775] Re: [dist-upgrade] "not enough disk space" should mention amount needed

2007-03-09 Thread TiagoCruz
So... update-manager give one warning around disk space?

Good... because yesterday I did one remote upgrade (edgy/ festy) using
apt/dpkg and I think that it don't calcule the necessary disk space,
after download... when starts to install the packages.

My disk space was over when the new kernel was installing... so... the
machine don't got the successful reboot :)

I need to launch the 'clean' on apt cache, and start the upgrade
again... but inside of one chroot, using one live-cd to complete the
upgrade.

Thanks

[Bug 83543] Re: Generates Windows incompatible DVDs

2007-03-07 Thread TiagoCruz
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 68084 ***

This problem is only on dapper, I think.

On edgy, have had one upgrade to fix it.

But it's good to know that will not need some upgrade on festy ;)

[Bug 85751] Re: Distorted MP3 sound

2007-03-05 Thread TiagoCruz
Yeah Ulf, you are correctly, sorry about this...

In the true, I prefer do one global configuration, like this:
$ sudo echo "afm=ffmpeg" >> /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf

And, speaking in "how make mplayer more friendly" maybe we should
decrease the size of subtitle, because the default if very big :-)

$ sudo echo "subfont-text-scale=3" >> /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf

Thanks a lot!

Is not only for MP3, this problem affect movies .avi and .rmvb too.

This workaround works very well:

[Bug 72750] Re: Nautilus creating directory on NTFS partition

2006-11-25 Thread TiagoCruz
Hello Sebastien,

Yes, the ntfs-3g now can be able to write on this partitions :)
http://lunapark6.com/?p=1710

I think that the problem is, on edgy, the locale on fstab:

#/dev/hda1 /windows ntfs-3g auto,silent,locale=pt_BR.iso88591,umask=0 0 0
/dev/hda1   /windowsntfs-3g
silent,umask=0,silent,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0

Using english now works as well!

Thanks

My video card is:
Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML

And I'm using the driver i810 with 24 depht of color on my xorg 7.0.0.

On gmplayer, I'm using the xv driver, ok?

[Bug 68084] Re: Nautilus CD Burner does not enable joliet extensions when burning to DVD

2006-11-14 Thread TiagoCruz
I'm has this problem too, and this patch has been solved my problem very
well, but I need to do one little "workaround" to make possible this use
on my dapper.

Normal users can expect this patch on dapper (downgrade nautilus 2.17.1
-> 2.14.3)? to get this bugfix using apt/synaptic? :-)

PS: Saying on Windows compatibility, I have this problem too:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374922

Maybe some ubuntu guys can confirm this problem, and work together on
one solution :D

Many thanks!

[Bug 63053] Re: Upgrade from dapper drake to edgy beta breaks X

2006-09-29 Thread TiagoCruz
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 61247 ***

I had the same problem with two machines (32 and 64 bits, see lspci
output below)

After turn off "splash" of my kernel, I can get the console and run
'startx' manualy and works.

So, I can see two problems:

1-) splash is broken and the monitor was 100% black after startup
2-) gdm don't works, but startx works.
